This paper presents the results of analyzing a four-conductor modal filter under trapezoidal noise influence on the time response at the device output. Thus, the use of matched terminations loads at the ends of far conductors allows to obtain 2.5% lower amplitudes at the output of the device relative to closely located ones. For the case of closely spaced conductors, the smallest amplitudes at the device output are observed with a combination of short circuit terminations loads at the far end and open circuit at the near end. Such allows to obtain up to 36.5% lower amplitudes relative to the far ones. Using the outer conductors as active conductors further reduces the amplitudes at the output of the device by up to 16.8 per cent percent. The terminations loads of conductors located through the air gap have no effect on the signal amplitude at the output of the protective device. © 2024 IEEE.

The paper presents an analysis of the influence of the geometrical parameters of the cross-section on the characteristics of protection devices operating in differential and common modes. A protection device is defined as a structure comprising 6- and 8-conductor structures with inhomogeneous dielectric filling, connected in such a way that protection is provided in two modes. The study presents the dependencies of attenuation coefficients in differential and common modes, per-unit-delay delays and time intervals between decomposition pulses on parameter variations. It was found that the combined thickness of the dielectric substrate and the width of the conductors has the greatest influence on the attenuation coefficients in differential and common modes. Furthermore, the dielectric thickness has a significant impact on the time intervals and per-unit-length delays. The analysis of the obtained data enabled the key parameters of the investigated cross-sections and their ranges to be determined, which will inform further optimization. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates of the efficiency of using different ways of placing conductors with identical and unequal characteristics before and after switching under different types of pulse disturbances in differential and common modes of influence, obtained on the example of a four-wire modal filter (MF). The results show that the location of the main and redundant conductors in the MF and the type of the interfering signal significantly affect its efficiency. When a digitized interference signal C9-11 is used, an increase in the amplitude at the output of the structure is observed for two configurations in common (by 11.3% and 10.4%, respectively) and one in differential modes (by 18.7%). However, when a bipolar pulse is used, amplitude changes are observed for only one configuration, in differential mode (2.4 % increase). U sing the conductor configurations discussed above can help account for channel degradation due to aging or component wear, allowing prediction of performance degradation in different modes of operation. Switching to the appropriate configuration at the right time allows the performance changes to be compensated for. © 2024 IEEE.

In the paper, the design and Simulink implementation of a predictive current control structure in dq frame for a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) are presented. Starting from the multivariable model of the currents in the dq reference frame, first it is decoupled and through the rejection of the disturbance introduced by the back-EMF, two single-input single-output (SISO) systems result whose dynamics are generated by R-L circuits. For these SISO systems, the model predictive control (MPC) algorithms are designed that allow the consideration of physical limitations through constraints The performances of the current control structure with MPC algorithms are compared with those obtained with the conventional PI controllers. © 2023 IEEE.

In a modern society, driven by both economic interests and a concern for personal privacy, indoor occupancy, either at workspace or in other type of accommodation, became a matter of stressed research interest. Though various methodologies have been developed so far, the proposed solutions of a technical problem of occupancy estimation still suffer from narrow perspectives and partial solutions, usually formulated as an optimization of a chosen mathematized problem. This paper considers the broader context of the problem, particularly its physical background, basic assumptions for the effective use of the environmental variables in occupancy estimations and the viable frameworks, either conventional or modern machine learning ones, that are to meet those assumptions. The approach is experimentally verified in a case study. © 2024 IEEE.

Projection-based integrators are effectively employed in high-precision systems with growing industrial success. By utilizing a projection operator, the resulting projection-based integrator keeps its input-output pair within a designated sector set, leading to unique freedom in control design that can be directly translated into performance benefits. This paper aims to enhance projection-based integrators by incorporating well-crafted linear filters directly into its structure, resulting in a new class of projected integrators that includes the earlier ones, such as the hybrid-integrator gain systems (HIGS), as special cases. The extra design freedom in the form of two filters in the input paths to the projection operator and the internal dynamics allows the controller to break away from the inherent limitations of a linear control design. The enhanced performance properties of the proposed structure are formally demonstrated through i) a describing function analysis, ii) mitigation of the gain-loss problem (occurring in, e.g., HIGS), and iii) numerical case studies showcasing improved time-domain properties. The describing function analysis is supported by rigorously showing incremental properties of the new filtered projection-based integrators, thereby guaranteeing the steady-state responses to be unique and asymptotically stable. © 2024 IEEE.

The paper is devoted to corrective agents dispensing control systems for thermal power plants, namely, hydrazine dispensing control system and phosphates dispensing control system. The systems mentioned are single-loop systems with PI-algorithms and they do not work efficiently enough now. Traditional variants of these system and their improvements earlier offered are described. Some new improvements, are offered and analyzed. They are prediction module using and control algorithm tuning parameters optimization. The prediction module uses the linear prediction algorithm. The transient processes and Nyquist curves for the control systems are given and analyzed. The quality indexes for the control systems are calculated. All the calculations are based on experimental data given in the papers already published. © 2024 IEEE.

A methodology for the diagnosis of sensor faults in wind farms is introduced. Simulations are performed using a multi-domain model that integrates mechanical, electromagnetic, electronic control, and power grid components. The prevalent issue of intermittent sensor failures is addressed. The discrete wavelet transform is employed for feature extraction. The transient signals are processed effectively. Various wavelet families are evaluated to identify optimal candidates for fault diagnosis. Additionally, the methodology integrates three machine learning classifiers, achieving accuracy rates consistently exceeding 99%. The outcomes demonstrate the advantages of this approach in terms of enhanced accuracy. This research represents a significant advancement in sensor fault diagnosis, contributing valuable insights for the operation and maintenance of renewable energy systems. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2024.

In this paper, a new tool for system identification and model predictive control (MPC) has been developed. The mathematical approximation of the model identification was derived using the neural network theory. The emphasis of this paper is to employ a multi-layer recurrent neural network with three layers to match an autoregressive-moving average (ARMA) model in the identification stage to provide the mathematical model for the model predictive controller in the control stage. The tool was designed using LabVIEW software and the MathScript facility. The tool can be used to identify and control simulated or real systems using the stored input/output data of the system. © 2022, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

This paper considers computer modelling of a single-loop linear control system with an auto-tuning module. A short review of the modelling software is given, the advantages of SimInTech are shown. The modelling is carried out in SimInTech using the tool called the package of project, that contains several projects which have a common data base containing all the variables. The control system under consideration, the control plant identification method and the project of the package are described. The control plant model is the second order transfer function with a time delay, the control algorithm is PID. An example for testing the package is given and analysed. © 2024 IEEE.
