This study evaluates outdoor thermal comfort in Labban Square, El Mina, Lebanon, using ENVI-met, a microclimate simulation tool designed to support urban planning and outdoor environmental design. A pedestrian flow analysis was conducted to identify the primary walking path through the square, which guided the redesign of the urban greenery layout. The study includes a comparative assessment of thermal comfort before and after implementing the redesigned greenery plan. Results demonstrate the significant influence of urban greenery on improving the thermal comfort of the square, providing valuable insights into the role of vegetation in mitigating urban heat and enhancing outdoor spaces for pedestrians. By integrating pedestrian movement data with microclimate simulation, this research highlights the importance of green infrastructure in creating more livable and comfortable urban environments, especially in areas with hot climates. The findings also offer urban planners and landscape designers' practical guidance for optimizing outdoor thermal comfort through pedestrian-based urban greenery planning. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper is part of undergraduate coursework addressing the ecological impacts of urbanization and industrialization, with a focus on water pollution and diminishing water resources in Bahrain coastal areas. The study analyzes water samples from Tubli Bay, Al-Hidd Walkway, and Busaiteen Beach using methodologies such as pH testing, turbidity assessment, conductivity measurement, Total Solids (TS), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) analysis. Key parameters, including pH, temperature, and turbidity, were assessed against international standards from the World Health Organization and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Results indicated pH levels ranged from 7.15 to 7.44 and turbidity from 20.7 NTU to 22.1 NTU, suggesting suspended particles from sediment runoff and anthropogenic activities. Elevated TDS and conductivity measurements reflect significant salinity in the coastal areas studied. The objectives include monitoring water quality, evaluating compliance with regulatory standards, and assessing pollution impacts on aquatic ecosystems. © 2024 IEEE.

As malware becomes increasingly stealthy and more difficult to detect, behavioral malware detection has become the preferred method of detection, which uses representative run-time data from the device to determine if an infection has occurred. In this work, we collected kernel-level system calls from a router serving IoT devices during periods of benign behavior and periods of known malware infection. The system calls were processed using our custom-trained sys2vec model, which created contextual embeddings for each system call observed. We then subjected the data to a classifier using a Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) with an Attention layer. Although this pipeline performed well for noisy, easy-to-detect malware, it struggled with stealthier malware. To combat this, we trained a classifier that uses a custom-trained BERT encoder in place of the GRU/Attention layers, which results in much better detection at a usable false positive rate (FPR) ≤ 1 × 10-5,. © 2025 IEEE Computer Society. This paper describes modified robust algorithms for a line clipping by a convex polygon in E2 and a convex polyhedron in E3. The proposed algorithm is based on the Cyrus-Beck algorithm and uses homogeneous coordinates to increase the robustness of computation. The algorithm enables computation fully in the projective space using the homogeneous coordinates and the line can be given in the projective space, in general. If the result can remain in projective space, no division operation is needed. Natural Language Processing (NLP) is revolutionizing the legal domain, enabling tasks such as predicting legal outcomes, summarizing complex documents, identifying key entities, and assessing bail risks. This survey paper presents a comprehensive review of the existing research on NLP tasks applied to legal documents and judgments across various languages, with a special emphasis on low-resource languages. Despite the extensive work done in widely spoken languages like English, there remains a critical need to extend these advancements to languages with limited resources and data availability. This paper categorizes and analyzes the NLP tasks in the legal domain based on the languages they target. It highlights the methodologies employed, datasets utilized, and the performance of different models across diverse languages. Furthermore, it identifies the gaps in current research and proposes potential directions for future work, particularly in improving the accessibility and applicability of NLP solutions for legal texts in underrepresented languages. By providing a comprehensive overview of advancements and obstacles, this survey seeks to assist future research endeavors that bridge the disparity between high-resource and low-resource languages in legalAI applications. © 2025 IEEE.

The article compares, based on the exergetic analysis, the performances of a cogeneration system for heating and air conditioning that works with CO2 or NH3. The analyzed refrigeration schemes are in two stages. The most efficient scheme for NH3 was the one with flash intermediary cooling (COPNH3=5.79, ɳexNH3=0.42) and for CO2, the one with intermediary cooling through the injection of saturated gas at intermediate pressure in the gas stream discharged by the first compression stage (COPCO2 =3.56 and ɳexCO2=0.29). © 2025, Politechnica University of Bucharest. Hieizan-Enryakuji has played an important role in Japanese Buddhism. While there were once many temples and monks’ houses in the mountainous forests. But now, most of them are abandoned or moved. To unveil the location of temples and monks’ houses, Ultra-Fine Lidar data - average point density is about 7,000 points per square meter, was used for the detection of them focusing of Earth Mound and Foundation Stone. We could confirm that Ultra-Fine topographic roughness map and Ultra-fine ground surface roughness map could be the useful tools for the detection of them. © 2024 Architectural Institute of Japan. In response to the urgent need for coronavirus treatments, this research focuses on leveraging bioactivity data collection and processing for efficient drug discovery, employing computational methods to predict potential antiviral compounds. Exploratory data analysis was performed to identify patterns and trends, and various molecular descriptors were computed for the Mpro inhibitors in the descriptor dataset preparation step. A regression model was trained using the developed random forest algorithm to predict the bioactivity of new compounds against the standard value and compared with other regression models. Additionally, a web-based application was created using the random forest model to allow users to obtain predicted bioactivity values against Mpro by providing information about molecular structures. Machine learning-based bioactivity prediction offers an intriguing plan for drug discovery, and the proposed work provides a comprehensive workflow for COVID- 19 drug discovery. The web application provides a user-friendly interface for drug discovery researchers to evaluate the potential of compounds against the Mpro target quickly. © 2024 IEEE.

Conducting energy consumption of a design during the initial phases of architectural design has become vital for achieving sustainability. The research paper explores the energy usage in different settings of window-to-wall ratio (WWR). Three villas of a housing project in Bahrain are employed as case studies to investigate energy analysis. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of the case studies' energy analysis are conducted for different façade orientations. The research paper concludes to form basis to improve energy analysis through applying WWR in similar context and environment. © 2024 IEEE.
