This paper presents client-server mobile system for diagnosis of asynchronous motors. The system is created as a mobile application for smartphones and tablets. The system provides processing of the measured values of the currents and voltages of the stator phases of the asynchronous motor. According to the processing results, the results of diagnostics and forecasting of the current state of asynchronous motors are calculated. The software runs on the Android OS. The main purpose is to predict the current state of AD, which has a parametric electromagnetic asymmetry of the stator phases.

As vehicle automation advances, motion planning algorithms face escalating challenges in achieving safe and efficient navigation. Existing Advanced Driver Assistance systems (ADAS) primarily focus on basic tasks, leaving unexpected scenarios for human intervention, which can be error-prone. Motion planning approaches for higher levels of automation in the state-of-the-art are primarily oriented toward the use of risk- or anti-collision constraints, using over-approximates of the shapes and sizes of other road users to prevent collisions. These methods however suffer from conservative behavior and the risk of infeasibility in high-risk initial conditions. In contrast, our work introduces a novel multi-objective trajectory generation approach. We propose an innovative method for constructing risk fields that accommodates diverse entity shapes and sizes, which allows us to also account for the presence of potentially occluded objects. This methodology is integrated into an occlusion-aware trajectory generator, enabling dynamic and safe maneuvering through intricate environments while anticipating (potentially hidden) road users and traveling along the infrastructure toward a specific goal. Through theoretical underpinnings and simulations, we validate the effectiveness of our approach. This paper bridges crucial gaps in motion planning for automated vehicles, offering a pathway toward safer and more adaptable autonomous navigation in complex urban contexts. This paper describes the process of forming and selecting options for managerial decisions, including determining the problem situation from a set of indicators of a balanced scorecard and the presence or absence of similar situations in a set of typical situations. The structure of the management procedure is formalized, which includes the following blocks: preprocessing, state evaluation, managerial decision issuing, decision making. A situational model is built. The procedure for issuing managerial decisions is described, including the correction of a set of managerial decisions in terms of the composition and parameters, classification and parameterization of managerial decisions. This scorecard combines decision-making principles in fuzzy representations (assessing a problem situation) and in structured problem situations (issuing managerial decisions). The risk of not meeting the goals of the balanced scorecard decreased by an average of 76% and averaged 24% after implementing the recommended management decisions on the simulation model of the production systems. © 2020 IEEE.

The Electrical engineering undergraduate program of the Escola Politécnica of the Universidade de São Paulo has created an alternative innovative curriculum path for its freshmen students in 2024. The Competency-based Path emphasizes the development of competencies and skills for the unprecedented technological advancements that necessitate a holistic education for future electrical engineers, preparing them with practical skills for real-world challenges. The program was designed using an innovative methodology and centers around semester-long or year-long integrative projects. These projects bridge the gap between theory and practice, as students deal with real-world challenges while fostering social responsibility.

Robot audition, encompassing Sound Source Localization (SSL), Sound Source Separation (SSS), and automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), enables robots and smart devices to acquire auditory capabilities similar to human hearing. Despite their wide applicability, processing multi-channel audio signals from microphone arrays in SSL involves computationally intensive matrix operations, which can hinder efficient deployment on Central Processing Units (CPUs), particularly in embedded systems with limited CPU resources. This paper introduces a GPU-based implementation of SSL for robot audition, utilizing the Generalized Singular Value Decomposition-based Multiple Signal Classification (GSVD-MUSIC), a noise-robust algorithm, within the HARK platform, an open-source software suite. For a 60-channel microphone array, the proposed implementation achieves significant performance improvements. On the Jetson AGX Orin, an embedded device powered by an NVIDIA GPU and ARM®Cortex™-A78AE v8.2 64-bit CPUs, we observe speedups of 4645.1× for GSVD calculations and 8.8× for the SSL module, while speedups of 2223.4× for GSVD calculation and 8.95× for the entire SSL module on a server configured with an NVIDIA A100 GPU and AMD EPYC™ 7352 CPUs, making real-time processing feasible for large-scale microphone arrays and providing ample capacity for real-time processing of potential subsequent machine learning or deep learning tasks. © 2025, CC BY-NC-ND.

the article considers the actual problem of pedagogical diagnostics of the professional competencies' maturity on the example of students of engineering specialties. The initial data were obtained as a result of experimental studies while which various diagnostic tools for the assessment of students training quality were used. The authors have suggested a method for the diagnostics of professional competencies which is based on the principle of tasks being differentiated in accordance with the defined competencies, and which allows us to obtain more reliable information about the level of their maturity. Also, there have been presented the code fragments of the developed modelling software aimed at the creation of a visual image being the result of the competencies diagnostics. © 2021 IEEE.

Learning from data of past tasks can substantially improve the accuracy of mechatronic systems. Often, for fast and safe learning a model of the system is required. The aim of this paper is to develop a model-free approach for fast and safe learning for mechatronic systems. The developed actor-critic iterative learning control (ACILC) framework uses a feedforward parameterization with basis functions. These basis functions encode implicit model knowledge and the actor-critic algorithm learns the feedforward parameters without explicitly using a model. Experimental results on a printer setup demonstrate that the developed ACILC framework is capable of achieving the same feedforward signal as preexisting model-based methods without using explicit model knowledge.

Propagation Phase Contrast Synchrotron Microtomography (PPC-SRµCT) is the gold standard for non-invasive and non-destructive access to internal structures of archaeological remains. In this analysis, the virtual specimen needs to be segmented to separate different parts or materials, a process that normally requires considerable human effort. In the Automated SEgmentation of Microtomography Imaging (ASEMI) project, we developed a tool to automatically segment these volumetric images, using manually segmented samples to tune and train a machine learning model. For a set of four specimens of ancient Egyptian animal mummies we achieve an overall accuracy of 94-98% when compared with manually segmented slices, approaching the results of off-the-shelf commercial software using deep learning (97-99%) at much lower complexity. A qualitative analysis of the segmented output shows that our results are close in terms of usability to those from deep learning, justifying the use of these techniques.
