A discrete-analog filter of the second order with three frequency-setting capacitors has been developed, where the electronic keys are controlled by pulse sequences that do not intersect in time. It has been shown that in the proposed filter the pole frequency can be changed by changing the capacitance of the capacitor C1. In this case, the pole attenuation depends on the resistance of the resistor R5, the transmission coefficients are changed by resistors R1 or R2, and when changing one of the parameters, all other filter parameters remain unchanged. The performance of this filter is confirmed by the results of computer modeling in the Micro-Cap environment.

The development of automation is characterized by the increasing complexity of control tasks associated with various technical objects. However, this does not exclude the human element from the control process. Manual control has certain drawbacks that negatively impact the quality of management, primarily arising from the interaction between the operator and the nonlinear dynamics of the robot. This study examines a manual control system for a robotic manipulator, taking into account nonlinear constraints that may manifest as limitations on the power of the actuating mechanism or as part of a local regulator. The parameters of the operator's control actions exhibit a certain range due to individual characteristics of the human operator or the control technique employed. Additionally, signal transmission delays may be present in the control loop. Considering these system characteristics provides a more comprehensive understanding of control quality and allows for the establishment of acceptable control techniques for the human operator. Depending on the frequency of input disturbances, this work analyzes the closed-loop system comprising the operator and manipulator using methods based on harmonic linearization of nonlinearity and harmonic balance equations: locus of a perturbed relay system and harmonic stabilization. The results of calculations and simulations using these methods indicate that there exists a parameter space within which oscillations may arise. Thus, when designing manual control systems for robotic manipulators, it is essential to pay attention to the control techniques employed by the human operator and to overall delays in order to avoid undesirable operational modes of the system.

Modeling trajectories in cigarette smoking prevalence, initiation and quitting for populations and subgroups of populations is important for policy planning and evaluation. This paper proposes an agent-based model (ABM) design for simulating the smoking behaviors of a population using the Capability, Opportunity, Motivation - Behavior (COM-B) model. Capability, Opportunity and Motivation are modeled as latent composite attributes which are composed of observable factors associated with smoking behaviors. Three forms of the COM-B model are proposed to explain the transitions between smoking behaviors: initiating regular smoking uptake, making a quit attempt and quitting successfully. The ABM design follows object-oriented principles and extends an existing generic software architecture for mechanism-based modeling. The potential of the model to assess the impact of smoking policies is illustrated and discussed.

Modelling of Greenhouse using Parabolic Trough Collectors Thermal Energy

The paper proposes a system developed to provide heat for a greenhouse using parabolic trough collectors (GHPTC) thermal energy. In order to ensure perfect conditions of growth for greenhouse plants, the GHPTC control system regulates the internal temperature of the greenhouse and it monitors the temperature of the conducting fluid through collector pipes. The GHTPC model is composed of two subsystems: the greenhouse model and the parabolic trough collector model. Each of these models were validated using real data, considering as a validation index the maximum error between the real and simulated data on a period of one day (24 hours). The proposed GHTPC model shows an energy gain by increasing the greenhouse internal energy even with no control applied on ether of the subsystems. © 2015, IFAC (International Federation of automatic control) Hosting by Elsevier Ltd. Safety of closed-loop drug infusion systems is an issue often raised as a matter of concern. As a result, many closed-loop control systems are reported in the literature merely as computer simulation studies and few ever reach the stage of physical realisation and formal clinical evaluation. We address the safety issues involved with such systems by describing the development of a portable closed-loop control system for atracurium-induced muscle relaxation. This is a safety-critical system particularly when applied to brain and eye surgery where movement could have serious deleterious effects. The benefits of closed-loop muscle relaxation in providing stable surgical operating conditions over a wide range of patient sensitivities while infusing the minimum amount of drug makes this a worthwhile aim and serves to demonstrate safety issues which are generally applicable to other closed-loop drug infusion systems. It is hoped that the described methodology will facilitate and encourage the clinical application of closed-loop drug infusion systems so that clinical staff and patients may receive the benefits of closed-loop drug therapy.

The increasing complexity of man-made plants, safety requirements and economic constraints all require more autonomous plant operations, quick and efficient failure diagnosis algorithms. The analysis of the properties of large, often heterogeneous, compositional models is difficult due to the size and the complexity of the state space. The computational complexity of the design of supervisory controllers and failure diagnosers also grows very fast with the size of the model. The paper presents a partial solution of these problems by exploiting modular plant and controller concepts of T-time Petri nets and adaptive error recovery approaches to the controllers and supervisors design. © 2004 IEEE.

This paper is addressed at the difficulty of accurately modelling a two-flexible-link manipulator system, which is a necessary pre-requisite for future work developing a high-performance controller for such manipulators. Recent work concerned with the development of an accurate single-flexible-link model is first reviewed and then the expansion of a single-link model into a two-flexible-link system in a way which properly takes into account the coupling and interactions between the two links is discussed. The method of approach taken is to calculate the elastic and rigid motions of the links separately and then to combine these according to the principle of superposition. The application of the model developed is demonstrated in a simulated two-flexible-link system.

The problem of analysis and forecast of possible "mechanical conflicts" (collisions) between orbital objects such as satellites and catalogued object space debris is considered. A number of orbital objects are viewed as a system, which evolves from one state to another. For each state, adjacent segments of trajectories are determined as potentially dangerous of collisions with further evaluation of degree of the danger by analyzing the time of passing these segments by the objects. This provides a possibility of "quick" evaluation of the current situation and forecast for the nearest future. Approaches to transition from one state to another and modeling such systems of various complexity and formation are considered.

One of the problems of the modern theory of automatic control is the construction of verified mathematical models of objects of regulation. In some cases, obtaining such models is not possible. This paper discusses approaches to the use of neural networks as regulators. Due to the presence of the adaptivity property, neuroregulators in some cases show a better quality of control in comparison with classical ones. The most common architectures of neural networks and methods of their training are considered. A comparative analysis was carried out. The first stage in the design of neural network regulators is the creation of a neuroimitator. An example of the synthesis of a neural network simulator is given. The proposed scheme has been worked out on systems with saturation type limiters and a mechanical stop. © 2023 IEEE.

Autonomous electro-hydraulic actuators (AEHA) are widely used in industrial applications such as mobile manipulators, robotic exoskeleton, aerospace applications. AEHA has a number of significant advantages in relation to the electric drive: a high ratio of the developed force to the weight of the drive, compact dimensions of the autonomous drive, which are provided by the integrated layout of all elements of the electro-hydraulic system. However, the control of such systems becomes much more complicated due to the presence of significant nonlinearities in the control object. These include the non-linear characteristic of the switchgear, dry friction, and hard mechanical stops. All this makes it difficult to implement a control system based on classical controllers. The paper proposes a technique for synthesizing a controller that provides a sliding mode with compensatory neural network control for objects with an indefinite static characteristic. Using the direct Lyapunov method, we prove the stability of a feedback system. Numerical simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.
