The All-Electric of modern military equipment has become an important trend, in the field of aircraft the traditional servo control focus on the exact control of the motor. With the development of power electronics technology, a high-power motor has expanded into a multiphase kind which cast off the limitation of traditional three-phase motors. The multiphase motor has more control resources and fault-tolerant control ability under the fault condition, which has practical meaning for high safety and high-reliability applications in an airborne environment. The multiphase motor can be controlled by a series of phase-shift carriers, which can reduce DC current ripple more effectively than the traditional carrier-based pulse width modulation, but it needs to find the optimal phase shift angle. In this paper, the optimal carrier phase shift angle is analyzed mathematically which can be used for both under health and single open-phase fault of a dual three-phase motor, and the simulation result illustrates that the carrier phase shift method used in this paper has the DC current ripple optimization effect. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The early detection of anomalous behaviors from a production line is a fundamental aspect of Industry 4.0, facilitated by the collection of massive amounts of data enabled by the Industrial Internet of Things. Nonetheless, the design and validation of anomaly detection algorithms, mostly based on sophisticated Machine Learning models, heavily rely on the availability of annotated datasets of realistic anomalies, which is very difficult to obtain in a real production line. To address this problem, we introduce the Robotic Arm Dataset (RoAD), specifically designed to support the development and validation of Multivariate Time Series Anomaly Detection (MTSAD) algorithms. We collect and annotate a large number of data and metadata to characterize the motion and energy consumption of a collaborative robotic arm in a full-fledged production line and annotate a comprehensive set of healthy as well as realistic anomalies scenarios. To prove the significance of RoAD and encourage future developments, we benchmark several state-of-the-art anomaly detection algorithms on our newly introduced dataset, and we freely release it to the scientific community. © 2023 IEEE.

The scalability of control algorithms controlling industrial assembly lines either model-based or model-free is still a big barrier from the point of view of implementation. In this paper, various Deep Reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithms will be tested in a virtual environment of a generic industrial assembly line in terms of optimally with respect to optimal exact solutions, and computational time. The agents will take bigger rewards when they minimize the finishing time while maintaining constraints, such as time precedence between tasks. The control actions will be modeled as a task assignment matrix that assigns the tasks to be completed to specific workstations. Another control action is the resource allocation. Due to the big number of constraints, many actions will be unfeasible leading to a longer time of training of the agent to learn not to apply unfeasible actions, therefore action masking will be introduced to the DRL algorithms to reduce the action space only to the feasible actions, thereby significantly reducing training time. Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) agent shows faster and more stable convergence to the optimal solution over the Deep-Q Network (DQN) family, including the double DQN and Dueling one. © 2023 IEEE.

The paper addresses the problem of optimal control design in presence of singular solutions for single input dynamics. The dynamical extension for systems obtained adding an integrator on the input is addressed and analyzed. The possibility of computing the optimal control for dynamically extended systems from the solution of the initial ones is investigated, as well as the inverse procedure. These relationships are well evidenced for the singular solutions, showing the possibility of simplifying the optimal control computation. An example is introduced to better highlight the presented results. © 2024 IEEE.

A significant disadvantage of classical operational amplifiers with a complementary 'folded' cascode is that in the dynamic overload mode of the input differential stage, the maximum output current of the 'folded' cascode is tightly coupled to the currents of the current-stabilizing bipoles that establish its static mode. This prevents (under the static current consumption limitations of the operational amplifier) a fast recharge of the integrating correction capacitor, which limits the maximum slew rate of the output voltage. The paper discusses new circuit solutions of CBJT operational amplifier based on complementary 'folded' cascodes and input differential stage of dual-input stage subclass to increase slew rate from 215 V/μs to 8000 V/μs level. The problem solved here is to provide higher levels of 'folded' cascode output current during the transient edge. This effect is achieved by introducing three additional small capacitance correction capacitors into the circuit. It is possible to introduce a special current limiting resistor in series with the third additional capacitor to reduce overshoot during the transient edge. The proposed modifications of operational amplifier have significant advantages in comparison with the classical ones based on complementary 'folded' cascodes in terms of slew rate level. Results of computer modeling of the operational amplifier in LTSpice environment for silicon CBJT technological process with micron topological norms are presented. © 2024 IEEE.

Typical autonomous driving systems are a combination of machine learning algorithms (often involving neural networks) and classical feedback controllers. Whilst significant progress has been made in recent years on the neural network side of these systems, only limited progress has been made on the feedback controller side. Often, the feedback control gains are simply passed from paper to paper with little re-tuning taking place, even though the changes to the neural networks can alter the vehicle's closed loop dynamics. The aim of this paper is to highlight the limitations of this approach; it is shown that re-tuning the feedback controller can be a simple way to improve autonomous driving performance. To demonstrate this, the PID gains of the longitudinal controller in the TCP autonomous vehicle algorithm are tuned. This causes the driving score in CARLA to increase from 73.21 to 77.38, with the results averaged over 16 driving scenarios. Moreover, it was observed that the performance benefits were most apparent during challenging driving scenarios, such as during rain or night time, as the tuned controller led to a more assertive driving style. These results demonstrate the value of developing both the neural network and feedback control policies of autonomous driving systems simultaneously, as this can be a simple and methodical way to improve autonomous driving system performance and robustness.

A low frequencies filter of the second order on switched capacitors has been developed and studied, the distinctive feature of which is three-phase control of three electronic keys. In the proposed circuit, this allows, at constant parameters of the frequency-setting capacitors and a fixed switching frequency of electronic keys, to control the frequency of the filter pole by changing the ratio of the resistances of resistors in the general feedback circuit. The basic equations for the filter transmission coefficients at zero frequency and at the pole frequency are given, as well as formulas for calculating the pole frequency and pole attenuation at the second order. A simulation of the filter was made in the Micro-Cap environment, which shows that the considered circuit solution performs the functions of a low-pass filter. Considered filter on switched capacitors can be used to create new adaptive measuring systems and analog-digital signal processing devices. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a dynamic model of a magnetic levitation system (Maglev) and suggests a Fuzzy Tuning of a proportional—integral--derivative controller (PID) that uses a fuzzy approach system to determine the PID controller's settings. The controller allows a steel ball to be suspended in free fall in the chosen position in reference to the electromagnet bottom end. The electromagnet levitation system can be controlled with a traditional PID controller, however because of the highly nonlinear of this system, it is unpredictable in the case of load and air gap changes. The fuzzy rules are developed to fuzzy tune PID while considering the control response and behavior of the system to find a solution to this problem. This paper shows excellent stability, rising time, settling time overshoot, and robust response results. The results reveal that this fuzzy PID controller solution can stabilize the ball's location and has strong disturbance rejection. The real time platform is designed for educational laboratory and test all the proposed control systems. © 2022, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

A hierarchical and modular agent-oriented framework for power systems co-simulations

During the last decades, numerous simulation tools have been proposed to faithfully reproduce the different entities of the grid together with the inclusion of new elements that make the grid "smart". Often, these domain-specific simulators have been then coupled with co-simulation platforms to test new scenarios. In parallel, agent-oriented approaches have been introduced to test distributed control strategies and include social and behavioural aspects typical of the consumer side. Rarely, simulators of the physical systems have been coupled with these innovative techniques, especially when social and psychological aspects have been considered. In order to ease the re-usability of these simulators, avoiding re-coding everything from scratch, we propose a hierarchical and modular agent-oriented framework to test new residential strategies in the energy context. If needed, the presented work enables the user to select the desired level of details of the agent-based framework to match the corresponding physical system without effort to test very different scenarios. Moreover, it allows adding on top of the physical data, behavioural aspects. To this end, the characteristics of the framework are first introduced and then different scenarios are described to demonstrate the flexibility of the proposed work: (i) a first stand-alone scenario with two hierarchy levels, (ii) a second co-simulation scenario with a photovoltaic panel simulator and (iii) a third stand-alone scenario with three hierarchy levels. Results demonstrate the flexibility and ease of use of the framework, allowing us to compare several scenarios and couple new simulators to build a more and more complex environment. The framework is in the early stages of its development. However, thanks to its properties in the future it could be extended to include new actors, such as industries, to get the full picture. © 2022, The Author(s).

Among the various ways of self-expression and communication between people, communication by speaking prevails. Speech presents a significant challenge for some disabled people, such as the deaf, hearing impaired, wordless, and dumb persons. Therefore, these people rely on the use of sign language to interact with others. Sign language is a system of movements and visual messages that ensure the integration of these individuals into groups that communicate vocally. On the other side, it is necessary to understand the gestures and linguistic semantics of these individuals. The main objective of this study is to establish a new model that enhances the performance of the existing paradigms in use for the recognition of American Sign Language (ASL). Therefore, three enhanced deep-learning models of YOLOv5 for recognizing the alphabetic and numeric information conveyed by hand motions are presented in this paper. These models depend on using different attention approaches. The suggested models were evaluated using the MU HandImages ASL dataset. The proposed models yielded superior results compared to those achieved by the initial version of YOLOv5. The modified models have reached their maximum accuracy of 98.9%, maximum recall of 97.5%, maximum mAP 0.5 of 99.2%, and maximum mAP 0.5:0.95 of 98.9%. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
