In this study, we aim to evaluate a driver skill based on the driver behavior model generated by the operation and environment data under driving vehicle. When skill of driver is reduced, the operator behavior is delayed, it takes along time of operation, and execution timing of operation is no reproducibility. These mean that reducing skill of driver affects time information of the driver operation. Therefore, we study on the model structure incorporated time information expresses the execution timing of driver's operation to evaluate driver's skill. In particular, we propose a new model structure incorporated timing probabilistic distribution expresses the time until the execution of next operation. Moreover, we propose a modeling method of operator behavior according to proposed model structure. It is considered that the reaction time from the decision to execution of operation and ambiguity of the decision can be read from the timing probabilistic distribution. In this paper, the above usefulness is examined through some experimental results. Moreover, the applicability of the driving skill evaluation based on the proposed operation model is examined.

For robots to be productive co-workers in the manufacturing industry, it is necessary that their human colleagues can interact with them and instruct them in a simple manner. The goal of our research is to lower the threshold for humans to instruct manipulation tasks, especially sensor-controlled assembly. In our previous work we have presented tools for high-level task instruction, while in this paper we present how these symbolic descriptions of object manipulation are translated into executable code for our hybrid industrial robot controllers. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.

Wearable and handheld devices, such smart phones, have come a long way in a very short time as they are capable of providing an extremely vast number of services simply at the click of a button, or even automatically. The diversity of the different embedded sensors (accelerometer, light sensors, etc.) lay the required foundation for the emergence of specialized applications that are capable of serving all kinds of purposes. By taking advantage of this specialized hardware found in smart phones, not only it has become feasible to constantly sense and gather information from the device's environment, but it has also become an effortless task to transmit the collected data to any individual or organization in a plethora of forms. This paper serves as an evaluation method for a location based Android application, SeniorTracker, by presenting a comparison between two applications that are both used for tracking down a device. While both have quite a similar purpose, the way they go about it as well as the ways the application itself can be utilized, drastically differs. SeniorTracker's main purpose lies in the retrieval of the coordinates of a device in case it is located somewhere it is not expected to be, allowing monitoring of persons that potentially will be lost, otherwise. The comparison was mainly focused on the performance of both applications when it comes to location retrieval and energy consumption while keeping in mind the respective tasks that each of them were designed to fulfill.

The paper studies the max-min fair multicast multigroup beamforming problem in a multi-cell environment, with perfect (instantaneous or statistical) Channel State Information (CSI). We propose a new general distributed algorithmic framework based on INner Convex Approximations (INCA): the nonsmooth NP-hard problem is replaced by a sequence of smooth strongly convex subproblems, which can be solved in a distributed fashion across the cells, with limited communication overhead. Differently from renowned semidefinite-relaxation-based schemes, the INCA algorithm is proved to always converge to a d-stationary solution of the aforementioned class of problems. Numerical results show that it compares favorably with state-of-the-art algorithms.

In this paper, an adaptive control approach is proposed for performance of constrained robot end-effector movements in presence of uncertainty. In real-world scenarios, complex physical phenomena occuring at the place of interaction may introduce nonlinearities in the system dynamics, which have to be taken into account for proper system control. We currently propose an Extremum Seeking (ES) Model Reference Adaptive control (MRAC) approach for state tracking of multiple-input multiple-output systems which enclose nonlinearities in their dynamics and involve parametric uncertainty by employing Adaptive Dynamic Inversion (ADI). According to ADI, system nonlinearities are assumed known and are taken into account in the design of the system control law. The proposed scheme is based on MRAC and ADI while the unknown controller parameters are adapted by ES control. The system is shown to achieve global and asymptotic reference state tracking under the proposed control law by performing Lyapunov and averaging analysis. The approach is evaluated in simulation and in an experimental robot task.

This article presents the developments of a novel isolated/non-isolated quad inverter configuration for multilevel dual six-phase (twelve-phase) star-winding converter. The modular circuit consists of four standard voltage source inverters (VSIs). Each VSI is incorporated with one bi-directional switch (MOSFET/IGBT) per phase and links with the neutral line through two capacitors which allows symmetrical and asymmetrical operations. A modified single carrier five-level modulation (MSCFM) algorithm is developed and modulates each 2-level VSI as a 5-level output multilevel inverter. The entire AC converter is numerically modeled using Matlab/PLECS simulation software and the predicted behavior of the system is analyzed and presented. Good agreement is obtained between these results and the theoretical analysis. Suitable applications for the converter include (low-voltage/high-current) medium power systems, electrical vehicles, AC tractions, and `More-Electric Aircraft' propulsion systems.

This paper presents a novel carrier based multilevel modulation for modified dual three-phase open-winding inverter applicable for low-voltage/high-current applications. A standard three-phase voltage source inverter (VSI) is connected across the open-winding of both ends of the motor. Each VSI incorporates an additional bi-directional switching device (MOSFET/IGBT) per phase and all three legs link to the neutral of two capacitors in the power circuit. An original optimal double carrier zero-shifted five-level modulation (DCZ SFM) algorithm is also presented and is used to modulate each VSI in a similar way to a 5-level multilevel inverter. The complete model based system is simulated in Matlab/PLECS software's and set of results are presented which shows good conformity with the theoretical analysis.

The explosive growth of webpage number on the Web has brought up some problems in the search process. One of these problems is that the general purpose search engines often return too many irrelevant results when users are searching for specific information on a given topic. Another problem is the massive increase in the number of pages to be indexed by Web search systems. In this research, two steps for Web Crawling are used to decrease these difficulties. First step is the feature selection for the datasets used. A proposed algorithm of feature selection, which uses the Document Frequency technique for the term in the category, is presented. Second step is Web page classification. Two famous techniques of Web page classification are used: (i) Support Vector Machine and (ii) Naïve Bayes Classifier. It is concluded that the proposed algorithm, using Document Frequency technique, reduces the redundancy during feature selection and increases accuracy during Web page classification. Complete evaluation is performed, in JAVA, to indicate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm.

Traditionally in Web crawling, the required features are extracted from the whole contents of HTML pages. However, the position which a word is located inside the HTML tags indicates its importance in the web page. This research proposes two ideas concerning the Feature Selection stage in HTML web pages. The first idea reduces the features by simply extracting them from the important tags in an HTML page in order to achieve faster classification. The second idea gives weights for each of the important tags. Two algorithms are presented in this paper based on these ideas: i) Important HTML tags only algorithm, ii) Weighted Important HTML tags only algorithm. The selected features are classified using two famous classifiers in the literature: Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Naïve Bayes classifier (NBC). The accuracy of each algorithm is computed. Comparison between the accuracies of traditional feature selection method, which uses the whole contents of HTML page, and the proposed algorithms is performed. Complete evaluation is performed which indicates the effectiveness of using our technique. The experimental results show improved precision and recall with the proposed algorithms with respect to keyword-based search. The algorithms are implemented in JAVA and its extended packages.

An adaptive decentralized strategy for active queue management of TCP flows over communication networks is presented. The proposed strategy solves locally, at each link, an optimal control problem, minimizing a cost composed of residual capacity and buffer queue size. The solution of the optimal control problem exploits an adaptive optimization algorithm aiming at adaptively minimizing a suitable approximation of the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation associated with the optimal control problem. Simulations results, obtained by using a fluid flow based model of the communication network and a common network topology, show improvement with respect to the Random Early Detection strategy. Besides, it is shown that the performance of the proposed decentralized solution is comparable with the performance obtained with a centralized strategy, which solves the optimal control problem via a central unit that maintains the flow states of the entire network.
