To optimize the energy consumption during transmission in a secure remote fingerprint authentication system, most approaches have considered a fixed-rate compression of WSQ(Wavelet Scalar Quantization). To balance the energy consumption and the recognition accuracy, however, we need to consider the total energy consumption during compression/encryption/transmission and the quality of the given image. In this paper, we first develop an energy-accuracy prediction model. Then, from the given image, we can evaluate the quality of it. Finally, from the user's minimum requirement of the recognition accuracy, the energy-optimized compression rate under the requirement can be derived adaptively. Based on the experimental result, we show that total energy consumption of the fixed approach can be reduced by 29%. ©2010 IEEE.

This paper deals with a possibility of non-destructive diagnostics of solid objects by software analysis of vibration spectrum by accelerometers. By a use of MATLAB platform, a processing and information evaluation from accelerometer is possible. Accelerometer is placed on the measured object. The analog signal needs to be digitized by a special I/O device to be processed offline with FFT (Fast Fourier Transformation). The power spectrum is then examined by developed evaluating procedures.

Internet users rely on the good capabilities of TCP/IP networks for dealing with congestion. The network delay and the number of users change constantly, which might lead to transmission problems. Usually, these problems are solved following a data communication approach such as drop tail or random early detection (RED) algorithms. Recently, more involved techniques based on an active queue management (AQM) control system have been proposed. This paper presents a probabilistic methodology to test whether a given AQM feedback controller satisfies a predefined set of requirements when dealing with control congestion under a variety of network configurations with a certain degree of confidence. The proposed technique is demonstrated through simulation in NS-2.

Biometric template protection is becoming a hot research recently. Fuzzy vault is a key binding biometric cryptosystem scheme. It binds a key with the biometric template and obtains the helper data. The main problem of fuzzy vault is that it can not provide the diversity and revocability. In this paper we propose a face based fuzzy vault scheme for online authentication. At the user side, the user's identity, the transformed template and key generated from user's password are always provided to the server. At the registration stage, fuzzy vault encoding is implemented using both key and transformed template. And then the fuzzy vault is encrypted using digital signature. At the authentication stage, by the identity claimed by user, the corresponding fuzzy vault will be checked, If it has been changed, the authentication will be failed. Otherwise, the key is recovered from the transformed template using fuzzy vault decoding, in which the nearest distance is computed for point matching. If the recovered key is same as that provided by user, the authentication will be successful. Otherwise it will be failed. The contribution of this paper include: the transformed template instead of face template is used, which will enable the system to provide diversity and revocability. The nearest distance based matching algorithm tolerates the much intra-class variation. The digital signature can be used to check if the fuzzy vault has been changed. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme achieves promising results. © 2010 IEEE.

Node localization becomes an important issue in the wireless sensor network as its broad applications in environment monitoring, emergency rescue and battlefield surveillance, etc. Basically, the DV-Hop localization mechanism can work well with the assistance of beacon nodes that have the capability of self-positioning. However, if the network is invaded by a wormhole attack, the attacker can tunnel the packets via the wormhole link to cause severe impacts on the DV-Hop localization process. The distance-vector propagation phase during the DVHop localization even aggravates the positioning result, compared to the localization schemes without wormhole attacks. In this paper, we analyze the impacts of wormhole attack on DV-Hop localization scheme. Based on the basic DV-Hop localization process, we propose a label-based secure localization scheme to defend against the wormhole attack. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed secure localization scheme is capable of detecting the wormhole attack and resisting its adverse impacts with a high probability. © 2010 IEEE.

In this paper, an optimized fractional order conditional integrator (OFOCI) is proposed. The key feature of this OFOCI is that, the fractional order α and the parameter κ for the "hold" value in the course of integration can be tuned following the analytical optimality design specifications, to achieve the optimized performance not achievable using integer order conditional integrators. The proposed optimality specifications are given to satisfy the desired phase delay, and minimize the preferred magnitude ratio, which can be calculated from the high order harmonic magnitudes divided by the magnitude of the fundamental wave. The numerical solution of calculating the optimized parameters α and κ of the OFOCI is introduced. The phase delays and magnitude ratios of four designed OFOCIs are compared with the integer order conditional integrators. Simulation results with the FFT spectra are also presented to validate the theoretical analysis. © 2010 AACC.

Cyber-physical system (CPS) integrates physics with Internet to provide a timely, confidential and efficient interaction of physical appliances with people. However, as a CPS Application, Smart Home still has difficulties in building a centralized interaction for remote monitoring. The paper presents the interaction model of Smart Community Cyber-Physical System (SCCPS) with the name Net-in-Net. The proposed model interaction is organized as a Wireless Sensor Network with Zigbee and GPRS technologies. Furthermore, B/S and C/S mixed mode is used as the architecture of remote interaction. After that a Cyber Protocol of application layer is proposed. Such model is supposed to provide a smart home interaction of high Security, reliability, stability and timeliness. © 2010 IEEE.

In this paper, a hierarchical multirate control scheme for nonlinear discrete-time systems is proposed, composed of a robust model predictive controller (MPC) and a multirate integral sliding mode (MISM) controller. In particular, the MISM controller acts at a faster sampling time than the MPC controller, and reduces the effect of model uncertainties and external disturbances, in order to obtain, at the next sampling instant of the MPC controller, a value of the system state that is as close as possible to the nominal one. To obtain this result, the control variable is composed of two parts: one generated by the MPC controller, and the other by the MISM controller. The a-priori reduction of the disturbance terms turns out to be very useful in order to improve the convergence properties of the MPC controller.

In order to avoid routing overhead and reduce management fee for transmisson of routing information,we purposed two heuristic algorithms which are self-pruning algorithm and dominant pruning *** algorithm is more efficient than the aimless flooding in wireless networks,and redused unnecessary transmission of information and nodes switching by the movement between *** shows that the two kinds of flooding algorithms are obviously superior to the aimless flooding algorithm,particularly the performance of the dominant pruning could almost reach the limit. © 2010 IEEE.
