Genetic algorithms are one of the effective algorithms for hard optimization problems. They can escape from the local minima, however, the amount of their computation is often large. To decrease the amount of the computation and enhance the algorithms, the uniform design is combined into the genetic algorithm. The new genetic operator has the local-search property similar to that in traditional optimization techniques and needs a minimal amount of computation in certain meaning. Thus the new genetic algorithm can generate a diversity of population and explore the search space effectively. Moreover, the new algorithm is globally convergent. The numerical results also show the effectiveness of the new algorithm with its less computation, higher convergent speed for all test functions.

An adaptive target queue length (ATQL) adjustment algorithm proposed in this paper cooperates with certain Active Queue Management (AQM) controllers to achieve more efficient buffer management for Internet congestion control. ATQL algorithm which estimates the average traffic load and dynamically adjusts the target queue length in dynamic traffic environment can be easily embedded into a series of AQM controllers. By engaging ATQL, AQM controllers are more suited to random and unpredictable traffic scenarios. Simulations are applied to validate ATQL's ability in assisting AQM controllers in sustaining stable drop probability, minimizing unnecessary packet loss, guaranteeing the link utility and maximizing the exploitation of buffer spaces.

A practical route planning algorithm for vehicle navigation system is proposed in this paper, the shortest path algorithm with the restricted searching area. The algorithm takes advantage of the adjacent list data structure and the mechanism of restricted searching area, that is, the algorithm uses the spatial distribution feature of the real road network to restrict the searching area in reason. Finally, combining with its practical application in Real-Time Vehicle Navigation System (RTVNS), one example is given, the analysis in theory and the experimental results show that compared with the Dijkstra algorithm, the new algorithm can greatly approve the searching speed, and satisfy the needs of RTVNS.

To study the design problem of robust reliable guaranteed cost controller for nonlinear singular stochastic systems, the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model is used to represent a nonlinear singular stochastic system with norm-bounded parameter uncertainties and time delay. Based on the linear matrix inequality (LMI) techniques and stability theory of stochastic differential equations, a stochastic Lyapunov function method is adopted to design a state feedback fuzzy controller. The resulting closed-loop fuzzy system is robustly reliable stochastically stable, and the corresponding quadratic cost function is guaranteed to be no more than a certain upper bound for all admissible uncertainties, as well as different actuator fault cases. A sufficient condition of existence and design method of robust reliable guaranteed cost controller is presented. Finally, a numerical simulation is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
