Heat exchangers are utilized in various industrial applications such as power generation, petroleum refinery, coal plants, etc. It is essential to model and control these applications to meet the desired outputs. This paper takes the experimental values of the heat exchanger, uses system identification techniques to model it, and then develops control schemes to control the same. Initially, conventional feedback control is developed. A feedforward algorithm is then added to regulate the external disturbances. Subsequently, the advanced control algorithms such as Internal Model control and Linear Quadratic Gaussian are implemented. The control starts from developing a simple Feedback control, then adding a feedforward controller to regulate the external disturbances and then advancing to Internal Model control and finally a Linear Quadratic Gaussian control. The responses, namely: servo responses (reference tracking), regulatory responses (input and output rejections), noise rejection responses, robust responses, and sudden step test responses, are compared for all the mentioned control schemes. Finally, the paper compares the four algorithms and gives an insight into each of their characteristics. © 2021 IEEE.

A low frequencies filter of the second order on switched capacitors has been developed and studied, the distinctive feature of which is three-phase control of three electronic keys. In the proposed circuit, this allows, at constant parameters of the frequency-setting capacitors and a fixed switching frequency of electronic keys, to control the frequency of the filter pole by changing the ratio of the resistances of resistors in the general feedback circuit. The basic equations for the filter transmission coefficients at zero frequency and at the pole frequency are given, as well as formulas for calculating the pole frequency and pole attenuation at the second order. A simulation of the filter was made in the Micro-Cap environment, which shows that the considered circuit solution performs the functions of a low-pass filter. Considered filter on switched capacitors can be used to create new adaptive measuring systems and analog-digital signal processing devices.

A significant disadvantage of classical operational amplifiers with a complementary “folded” cascode is that in the dynamic overload mode of the input differential stage, the maximum output current of the “folded” cascode is tightly coupled to the currents of the current-stabilizing bipoles that establish its static mode. This prevents (under the static current consumption limitations of the operational amplifier) a fast recharge of the integrating correction capacitor, which limits the maximum slew rate of the output voltage. The paper discusses new circuit solutions of CBJT operational amplifier based on complementary “folded” cascodes and input differential stage of dual-input stage subclass to increase slew rate from 215 V/µs to 8000 V/µs level. The problem solved here is to provide higher levels of “folded” cascode output current during the transient edge. This effect is achieved by introducing three additional small capacitance correction capacitors into the circuit. It is possible to introduce a special current limiting resistor in series with the third additional capacitor to reduce overshoot during the transient edge. The proposed modifications of operational amplifier have significant advantages in comparison with the classical ones based on complementary “folded” cascodes in terms of slew rate level. Results of computer modeling of the operational amplifier in LTSpice environment for silicon CBJT technological process with micron topological norms are presented.

This paper addresses the problem of planning the motion of a mobile robot that has to visit some points of interest, each point having a specific time interval in which it can be reached. The robot is omnidirectional and it evolves with constant speed in an environment cluttered with polygonal obstacles. In the case of no obstacles, the problem would be a Travelling Salesman Problem with Time Window (TSPTW) constraints. Our solution is innovative by enabling obstacles for TSPTW scenarios, and it accomplishes this by coupling visibility graphs, graph reduction and mathematical programming. The method first constructs a visibility graph based on the obstacles and points to be visited, and then it maps this graph to another graph whose nodes correspond only to robot’s initial position and points of interest. Finally, a TSPTW problem is solved on the reduced graph by using a Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) mathematical formulation, and the solution is projected to the initial environment. The solution development is accompanied by illustrative numerical simulations.

To design linear control systems a new method is suggested on the basis of the principle of output and impacts control. The main difference of this principle consists in the use of only measurable variables and separate operators for each input signal of the control device. The design problem has a solution if the plant is completely controllable, and at least the controllable variable is measured. The suggested approach makes it possible to eliminate the well-known contradiction between the accuracy and stability of systems with control on deviation, and to provide the required astatism orders or selective invariance to the external actions. At the same time, the conditions of ensuring the direct indicators of the transient quality and the physical implementation of the control device are taken into account. The coefficients of the equation of the output and impacts control device are determined by solving a system of linear algebraic equations. The control device can be implemented on the basis of either operational amplifiers or sufficiently high-speed digital automation tools. The suggested method can be applied for designing high-quality linear control systems for various purposes.

This contribution describes the use of Natural Language Processing (NLP) methods for the lexical analysis of requirements for control, sensors, and information systems in the Agriculture 4.0 domain. The analysis is presented on an orchard 4.0 *** proposed orchard includes a sensor network (containing mainly measurements of hydrometeorological and soil variables), camera monitoring of conditions, and yield, support for autonomous robotic care and harvesting based on machine vision, prediction of appropriate times for interventions, etc. Requirements specification for mentioned system is written in natural language.A sentence splitting, Tokenization, Lemmatization, and POS (Part-of-Speech) tagging methods are applied to the mentioned structured requirements of the system and Use Case description. From these and by means of NLP, the candidates of classes, attributes, operations, and associations of the UML (Unified Modeling Language) class diagram are filtered and the UML model is synthesized. This paper presents the application of software engineering methods to support the development of complex heterogeneous sensors, information, and control systems.

The paper presents a promising method of increasing by more than an order of magnitude the maximum slew rate (SR) of integrated operational amplifiers (OpAmps) based on two-cycle “folded“ cascodes. This method is based on the introduction of special differentiating transient correction circuits into the classical circuits of OpAmps. Developed on the basis of the MH2XA031 array chip, the high-speed OpAmp is recommended for practical use in the subclass of so-called discrete-analog SC-filters on switched capacitors, for which (in some important cases) higher SR values are required. The effect of significantly improving the OpAmp’s speed is to provide higher output current levels of the two-cycle “folded” cascode that recharges the integrating correction capacitor during the transient edge. The OpAmp’s speed performance in the large-signal mode is increased from $248.7 \mathrm{~V} / \mu \mathrm{s}$ to $4148 \mathrm{~V} / \mu \mathrm{s}$ as a result of this.

Human gait analysis provides qualitative and quantitative information concerning different characteristics of walking of a certain person. Cloud computing proves to be a modern and valuable technology when dealing with data scalability, security and efficiency of processing and storage. Also, this paradigm has some key-benefits like real-time data sharing, fast computation as well as collaborative research. The applications gamut which uses cloud computing is getting bigger and bigger, and healthcare sector is an important domain in this respect. Our approach proposed a cloud-based service designed for the automated assessment of medical rehabilitation of human gait by using video processing. We have chosen this processing technology because it is marker-less, allows fast computation and offers a very good precision of the gait analysis. Cloud computing approach proved to be encouraging and underscores remarkable advantages in comparison with traditional on-site video processing. In this way the patient, after a short training session, can himself/herself make tests and assessments of his/her mobility status, avoiding many consultations of medical or kineto-therapeutic staff.

System identification (SysID) is the art and science of dealing with dynamic data modelling problems from systems science perspectives. It has been an active field and is still very active today, due to its wide range of applications, especially its basic principles of finding transparent, interpretable and parsimonious models for different purposes. The past decades have witnessed the explosive growth in machine learning (ML) and its applications in all areas of science and engineering. Meanwhile, there has been an increasing demand for the development of transparent, explainable and/or interpretable ML models. This paper proposes a new framework for developing System Identification-informed Transparent and Explainable MAchine Learning (SITEMAL) models. A case study, involving a real power consumption dataset, is presented to demonstrate the application of the proposed modelling framework and its performance for power consumption forecasting.

A Robust Observer with Gyroscopic Bias Correction for Rotational Dynamics

We propose an observer for rotational dynamics subject to directional and gyroscopic measurements, which simultaneously estimates the gyroscopic biases and attitude rates. We show uniform almost global asymptotic and local exponential stability of the resulting error dynamics, implying robustness against bounded disturbances. This robustness is quantified with respect to a popular nonlinear complementary filter in quantitative simulation studies, and we explore how the measurement noise propagates to the asymptotic errors as a function of tuning.
