This paper presents a study for optimizing a hot rolling mill. The paper is devoted to the study of ways to reduce the effect of shock loads of synchronous electric drives of the roughing mill group on the relative lengthening of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap of the rolling stands of the finishing mill group. The elasticity of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap of the rolling mill has a significant impact on the movement of intercoupled multi-motor electric drives of the finishing mill group. Another crucial route of exposure that influences the motion of the electric drives within the finishing mill group involves the electromagnetic connection between the drives in the roughing and finishing mill groups. The impact of the electromagnetically connected circuits is evident through the effect of shock loads from synchronous electric drives on the angular velocity of the direct current electric drives within the finishing mill group. The characteristics of the electromagnetic communication circuit are established by the power grid arrangement and equipment specifications. To assess the quality of work of electric drives of the finishing mill group, it is proposed to use the relative lengthening of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap, which is an important indirect indicator of the quality of rolling. The mathematical model of a hot rolling mill that takes into account both the elasticity of the metal strip that connects the DC electric drives of the finishing group, and the electromagnetic coupling circuit that takes into account the impact loads of synchronous electric drives of the roughing group on the example of the mill 1700 of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC was proposed in this paper. A two-channel Sallen-Key low-pass filter on three non-inverting amplifiers is studied, which has the property of unrelated digital set of the upper cut-off frequency at constant index of the transmission coefficient in the bandwidth range. The restructuring of the upper cutoff frequency and the attenuation of the pole is carried out by modify the resistors’ resistance of one in the upper channel of the low-pass filter. It is shown that a non-inverting amplifier in the lower channel of the low-pass filter can have a small value of the systematic zero bias voltage component, what is important for the operation of the low-pass filter at the input of analog-to-digital converters. It has been established that due to the construction of a low-pass filter according to a two-channel architecture, the requirement for the magnitude of the output static voltage of the upper channel is removed. The base equations of the new low-pass filter scheme are given and the summary modeling in the Micro-Cap was pictured.

The purpose of the work is to investigate the possibilities of soft-start devices with gate turn-off thyristors in electric drives of bow thrusters with adjustable propeller pitch to increase reliability, reduce mechanical shocks and currents, and improve electromagnetic compatibility with the ship’s electrical power plant. The characteristic features of these drives are operation on fan load and the need for a smooth start in a sufficiently short time to reduce impact torque in the mechanism. As a result of the analysis, a solution with a shunt capacitor is proposed, which provides high accuracy of regulation of the 1st harmonic of the voltage on the motor according to the given law. The minimum value of the capacitor capacity was found, which for the ABB/AMD710L8T motor with a capacity of 2.7 MW is 150-250 μF at switching frequencies from 500 to 1000 Hz. For the first time, the dependences of the GTO switching frequency on the capacitor capacity and the coefficient of harmonic distortion of the current in the stator phase of the selected motor were found. Frequencies are obtained that correspond to the actual physical characteristics of the GTO (500–1000 Hz). At such switching frequencies, the characteristics of the soft start device practically do not differ from the ideal regulator of the phase voltage of an asynchronous motor. This makes it possible to synthesize closed systems with stabilization of the main coordinates of soft starter electric drive, two-circuit systems with the formation of a given tachogram with torque limitation. All this makes it feasible to implement soft start devices based on gate turn-off thyristors.

Sleep apnoea is a common sleep disorder during human sleep. It is usually diagnosed by a doctor after recording one nights’ sleep signals. Patients have to go to the hospital to record sleep signals, which is time-consuming and resource-intensive. The study focused on two signals, pulse data and oximetry data, with the aim of detecting apnoea using a single signal. This paper introduced an anomaly detection approach using the adaptive cumulative sum (ACUSUM) change point detection algorithm to monitor outliers in the signal. In addition, the test results of ACUSUM will be compared with the test results of classical CUSUM. Besides, the threshold selection has been changed from an unchanging constant to a value related to the standard deviation of the selected signal based on a rational subgroup process. The results of the comparison confirm that ACUSUM is better than classical CUSUM in the accuracy of automatic detection.

A complex-variable sliding-mode control (SMC) algorithm is proposed to govern inverters interfacing renewable energy sources (RESs) with the electrical grid. It is conceived to control the instantaneous energy stored in the passive components of the system and its rate of change, as well as the instantaneous reactive energy and power exchanged with the grid. The stability of the resulting closed-loop system is analyzed, and tuning of the designed SMC algorithm is also tackled. In addition, the design and tuning of a nonlinear observer estimating the renewable power supplied to the DC link are addressed. The overall control scheme obtained by combining the proposed complex-variable SMC algorithm with such observer is assessed in simulation, demonstrating its outstanding tracking performance and high robustness in presence of large parameter variations.

Even if the electrical grid is subject to constrained disturbances, doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG)-based wind turbines should be able to synchronize their stator voltage with that of the grid to ensure a smooth connection to the electric power system. In order to face the synchronization task under simultaneously unbalanced and harmonically distorted grid voltages, a complex-valued sliding-mode control (SMC) algorithm, naturally chatter-free and phase-locked loop (PLL)-independent, is proposed. By accomplishing a stationary reference frame-based design, decomposition into positive- and negative-sequences and harmonic components is not required. The finite-time convergence of such algorithm is analytically demonstrated when subject to both parametric and unmodeled uncertainties, as well as disturbances. Simulation over a 2-MW DFIG model has been carried out in order to validate the performance and robustness of the suggested control structure under unbalanced and harmonically distorted grid voltage, variable speed wind profile, substantial parameter deviations and grid frequency variation.

Model predictive control (MPC) for linear systems with quadratic costs and linear constraints is shown to admit an exact representation as an implicit neural network. A method to "unravel" the implicit neural network of MPC into an explicit one is also introduced. As well as building links between model-based and data-driven control, these results emphasize the capability of implicit neural networks for representing solutions of optimisation problems, as such problems are themselves implicitly defined functions. © 2024, CC BY.

The paper proposes a control method for a high-voltage cascade frequency converter with H-bridges, based on Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation, regardless of the number of normal and damaged H-cells in phases. Analytical dependencies are given that explain the principle of balancing asymmetric base vectors, and tabular data are provided for the implementation of this method in most possible emergency modes in 4-6-level frequency converters. It was found that the formation of control laws for power switches only taking into account the change in length and phase shifts between the base vectors in emergency modes is not enough to exclude shock electromagnetic and electromechanical processes in an induction motor. Such shocks occur due to the appearance of an additional shift of the phase-to-phase voltages due to the asymmetry of the phase voltages on the half-period of the generated signal. Based on the expansion in a Fourier series, the necessary correcting phase shifts are calculated for all considered emergency modes. Modelling of electromagnetic and electromechanical processes in an electric drive 3.3 MW, 6.6 kV with a 6-level frequency converter has shown the effectiveness of the developed method - during transitions from a normal to an emergency mode, electromagnetic processes caused by phase shifts are excluded. At the same time, SVPWM in all modes increases the energy efficiency of power supplies by 15.6%, which makes it possible to increase the phase-to-phase voltage by 10... 26% in emergency modes in comparison with sinusoidal PWM. The proposed analytical dependencies and tabular data can be used in the synthesis of control systems with both scalar and vector control. © 2021 IEEE.
