In the field, unsupervised learning-based fault diagnosis is necessary due to the lack of fault data. However, conventional auto-encoder models face challenges in fault classification. To address this issue, this study proposes an unsupervised learning-based auto-encoder model enhanced with an ensemble approach. The proposed model performs fault classification using gear, bearing, and eccentricity fault data, and employs the Layer-wise Relevance Propagation (LRP) technique to improve fault classification. Through the LRP technique, the key frequency bands relevant to each fault are identified and incorporated into the learning process, allowing for frequency band-based training. As a result, the proposed auto-encoder model improves classification performance and effectively distinguishes between different types of faults. © The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers.

A hysteresis motor is a motor characterized by an increase in the efficiency of the output to input ratio during an over-excitation in which a higher voltage is applied at startup than when the rated voltage is applied, and the voltage is reduced over a period of time after entering synchronous speed. However, due to the specificity of the rotor material, finite element analysis of hysteresis motors is difficult, so the design was conducted by analyzing only the rated voltage application condition through an equivalent circuit. As a result, the improved efficiency and torque that can be achieved by over-excitation were not verified, which was confirmed by experiments after the design was completed. However, recently, finite element analysis simulation that can express the hysteresis loop behavior has become possible, so finite element analysis of hysteresis motors has become possible, and the improved efficiency and torque that can be obtained through over-excitation can be confirmed. Therefore, this paper compares the output and efficiency of hysteresis motors under over-excitation and rated voltage application, and confirms the necessity and feasibility of designing hysteresis motors considering over-excitation. Statement of the problem: for telemetry systems, among the variety of problems, we can distinguish a special class of problems related to the development of algorithms for continuous data processing. Their allocation into a separate class is due to the fact that within the framework of both the classical approach to compression and the spatial approach, this problem was considered strictly discretely, without taking into account deep correlations both in time between samples of the same source and between samples obtained in one point in time from different sources. Purpose of the study: development of effective adaptive and non-adaptive algorithms for continuous compression of measurement data frames. Results: algorithms for continuous compression of measurement data frames have been developed. A comparative analysis of the efficiency of their work and the work of a discrete compression algorithm based on the construction of prefix Huffman codes was carried out, which showed their significant superiority over this algorithm either in the compression ratio (adaptive algorithm) or in its speed (non-adaptive algorithm). © 2023 IEEE.

This paper introduces the Transient Predictor and describes how it can be used to estimate the Multistep Predictor, which can be applied to applications such as Data-Driven Predictive control (DDPC). The Transient Predictor has two desirable traits that differentiate it from other methods for estimating the Multistep Predictor, such as the standard Subspace Predictor method: 1) Causality-the Transient Predictor asserts a causal relationship between future inputs and future outputs;and 2) Bias-the Transient Predictor is a consistent predictor of future outputs. This paper provides an easy-toimplement algorithm for estimating the Transient Predictor and in turn the Multistep Predictor, and demonstrates its efficacy for DDPC. In experiments, we find that the Transient Predictorbased DDPC performs remarkably well with small lead-in data lengths, indicating that it is well-suited for tasks in which large amounts of data are not available. In addition, the Transient Predictor is not afflicted by the same bias as subspace-based methods when data is gathered in closed loop. © 2024 IEEE.

Space weather forecasting is of global interest, and its importance is well established in research community and recognized by government, industries and stockholders. Over the past years, many types of predictive models have been developed in the literature. There is a general agreement that forecasting models should not only provide point prediction but also inform the uncertainty associated with the prediction. This study presents a novel method bases on quantile regression and complex dynamic modelling for measuring uncertainties in space weather forecasting. The approach is implemented using Quantile regression and Nonlinear AutoRegressive Moving Average with Exogenous inputs (NARMAX) methods (for short the approach is called Q-NARMAX). The method is applied to Disturbance storm index (Dst) observations to examine its interpretability and capability for uncertainty analysis. Results show that the proposed Q-NARX model can produce excellent predictions of the Dst index, and meanwhile provides a measure for assessing the uncertainty in the forecast. The innovative integration of quantile regression, complex dynamic modelling and nonlinear system identification techniques enables the proposed work to have following attractive advantages and properties: 1) it can produce excellent prediction accuracy for space weather forecasting, 2) it uses transparent models to approximate (represent) black-box systems, enabling to interpret the dependent relationship between space weather indices (system outputs) and their drivers (system inputs), and 3) more importantly, it allows for uncertainty assessment and analysis of models and forecasts. © 2023 IEEE.

Fault monitoring and diagnostics are important to ensure reliability of electric motors. Efficient algorithms for fault detection improve reliability, yet development of cost-effective and reliable classifiers for diagnostics of equipment is challenging, in particular due to unavailability of well-balanced datasets, with signals from properly functioning equipment and those from faulty equipment. Thus, we propose to use a Bayesian neural network to detect and classify faults in electric motors, given its efficacy with imbalanced training data. The performance of the proposed network is demonstrated on real life signals, and a robustness analysis of the proposed solution is provided. © 2024 IEEE.

It has been revealed that in the conditions of small-scale production of discrete-analog filters on switched capacitors and ADC-drivers, it is most advisable to design high-speed operational amplifiers (OAs) based on the CBJT technological route and the MH2XA031 array chip, which allows operation in conditions of low temperatures and exposure to radiation. It has been established that most commercially produced O A s provide an average value of the slew rate (SR, up to 200 div 300 ~V / μ s). This is largely due to the limitations of the technologies used, and most importantly, to the irrational design of circuits. We study the maximum performance parameters of a CBJT OA with one integrating capacitor, which ensures the stability of the O A, and a differentiating transient correction circuit, which is implemented by connecting additional small capacitors to the original circuit. In this case, the S R of the O A increases by more than 500 times (up to 4000 ~V / μ s). © 2024 IEEE.

In the paper, the design and Simulink implementation of a predictive current control structure in dq frame for a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) are presented. Starting from the multivariable model of the currents in the dq reference frame, first it is decoupled and through the rejection of the disturbance introduced by the back-EMF, two single-input single-output (SISO) systems result whose dynamics are generated by R-L circuits. For these SISO systems, the model predictive control (MPC) algorithms are designed that allow the consideration of physical limitations through constraints The performances of the current control structure with MPC algorithms are compared with those obtained with the conventional PI controllers. © 2023 IEEE.

The All-Electric of modern military equipment has become an important trend, in the field of aircraft the traditional servo control focus on the exact control of the motor. With the development of power electronics technology, a high-power motor has expanded into a multiphase kind which cast off the limitation of traditional three-phase motors. The multiphase motor has more control resources and fault-tolerant control ability under the fault condition, which has practical meaning for high safety and high-reliability applications in an airborne environment. The multiphase motor can be controlled by a series of phase-shift carriers, which can reduce DC current ripple more effectively than the traditional carrier-based pulse width modulation, but it needs to find the optimal phase shift angle. In this paper, the optimal carrier phase shift angle is analyzed mathematically which can be used for both under health and single open-phase fault of a dual three-phase motor, and the simulation result illustrates that the carrier phase shift method used in this paper has the DC current ripple optimization effect. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

A methodology for the diagnosis of sensor faults in wind farms is introduced. Simulations are performed using a multi-domain model that integrates mechanical, electromagnetic, electronic control, and power grid components. The prevalent issue of intermittent sensor failures is addressed. The discrete wavelet transform is employed for feature extraction. The transient signals are processed effectively. Various wavelet families are evaluated to identify optimal candidates for fault diagnosis. Additionally, the methodology integrates three machine learning classifiers, achieving accuracy rates consistently exceeding 99%. The outcomes demonstrate the advantages of this approach in terms of enhanced accuracy. This research represents a significant advancement in sensor fault diagnosis, contributing valuable insights for the operation and maintenance of renewable energy systems. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2024.
