We investigate the conflict resolution problem in a self separation airspace. Using the recent advances in the fields of robotics and control, we use navigation functions to resolve conflicts arising in the Short Term, which guarantee conflict avoidance, while in Mid Term, a model predictive controller makes sure that the designed system respects the operational constraints of the situation and maximizes some performance for the system. Both algorithms operate in a decentralized scheme, following the autonomous aircraft concept investigated under the European project iFly. Priority issues are discussed and ways to take them into consideration in our setting are shown. The algorithm performance is demonstrated on simulations in planar configurations.

This paper presents the development of an active vibration control (AVC) mechanism for a flexible plate structure using a Genetic Algorithm (GAs) strategy. The global optimisation technique of GAs is utilised to obtain a dynamic model of a flexible plate structure and verified within the AVC system. The GA based AVC algorithm thus developed is implemented within a flexible plate simulation environment and its performance in the reduction of vibration of the plate is assessed. The validation of the algorithm is presented in both the time and frequency domains. An assessment of the results thus obtained is given in comparison to the AVC system using conventional recursive least squares (RLS) method. Investigations reveal that the developed GA based AVC system performs better in the suppression of vibration of a flexible plate structure compared to an RLS based AVC system.

In this paper, a sufficient condition of robust D-stability for discrete-delay perturbed singular systems is presented, and the robust stability sufficient condition is independent of the delay. Two classes of perturbations for systems are discussed: (1) highly structured parametric perturbations; (2) unstructured parametric perturbations. An useful technique for robust pole-assignment in a specified circular region is also proposed, the criterion is tested easily, and convenient for the application in the engineering. Two examples have been given to validate the proposed method.

The key to the wavelet based denoising teehniquea is how to manipulate the wavelet coefficients. By referring to the idea of Inclusive-OR in the design of circuits, this paper proposes a new algorithm called wavelet domain Inclusive-OR denoising algorithm(WDIDA), which distinguishes the wavelet coefficients belonging to image or noise by considering their phases and modulus maxima simultaneously. Using this new algorithm, the denoising effects are improved and the computation time is reduced. Furthermore, in order to enhance the edges of the image but not magnify noise, a contrast nonlinear enhancing algorithm is presented according to human visual properties. Compared with traditional enhancing algorithms, the algorithm that we proposed has a better noise reducing performanee , preserving edges and improving the visual quality of images.

The control synthesis problem involving Implicit Model Following (IMF) is considered in the context of Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) and H 2/H∞, theories. The well-known quadratic or nominal H2 IMF problem is first extended to encompass LPV system models with a Linear Fractional Transformation (LFT) structure. This problem is then embedded in the framework of LPV theory. Conditions for dealing with additional mixed H2/H∞ criteria are discussed. The solvability conditions are provided with little conservatism by a previous multi-channel LFT/LPV result in discrete time. Finally, an illustrative example is used to validate this new formulation. Also, we demonstrate through this example that the IMF formulation is an effective technique to achieve a desired transient behavior for LPV systems.
