A circuit design of a high-speed CBJT operational amplifier (OpAmp) based on an “folded” cascode is proposed, in which a differentiating transient correction circuit is introduced to increase the maximum slew rate of the output voltage (SR). The considered OpAmp is intended for use in a subclass of so-called discrete-to-analog SC filters on switched capacitors, where (in some important cases) higher SR values of the OpAmp are required. In addition, such high-speed OpAmps are in demand in drivers of high-speed analog-to-digital converters and other devices of automatics and computer engineering. Computer simulation in LTSpice environment shows that the proposed CBJT OpAmp circuit designs for micron silicon technological processes provide SR increase from 45.8 V/μs to 18000 V/μs.

A smart home allows automated technology to control systems and appliances to assist daily life activities. In the current work, a prototype of a designed smart home health-aware system is presented. Three predefined ruled agents have been used to gather data, communicate between themselves, interpret the data based on several machine learning algorithms to predict abnormality for cardiac conditions. The paper also compares results obtained by running five machine learning algorithms. The agents function in accordance with predefined dataset describing residents ’ age, gender, height, weight, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose levels, smoking and alcohol consumption habits, and lastly, physical activity. Our plan is to simplify ubiquitous health monitoring for smart home’s residents. The proposed solution aims to monitor parametric measurements to alert health specialists in case of emergencies.

This research explains the bandwidth verification and application of the VHF antenna for partial discharge measurement. Three different VHF antennas were used for the experiment. In the research, the measuring bandwidth of such antennas was evaluated using a network analyzer. The antenna properties such as return loss and voltage standing wave ratio were analyzed. Then, the partial discharge in the air was simulated using the surface discharge model. The physical phenomena of PD occur like pulse current transients and electromagnetic waves. The pulse current transients were detected using a coupling capacitor and HFCT sensor, while the electromagnetic wave was detected using a VHF antenna. five test positions of the VHF antenna were designated for partial discharge measurements namely 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 meters away from the partial discharge source. The PRPD pattern, PD magnitude, and waveform obtained from the VHF antenna were compared with coupling capacitors and HFCT sensors and presented in this paper. It is found that the VHF antenna, which has higher return loss and lower voltage standing wave ratio, provides high performance to detect the electromagnetic wave of partial discharge.

The relevance of the present research is related to the search for promising ideas for increasing the maximum slew rate of the output voltage ($\text{SR}_{\text{M}}$) of new-generation operational amplifiers (OpAmps). Proposed circuit techniques that provide (with simultaneous use) an increase in $\text{SR}_{\text{M}}$ by more than 2 orders of magnitude. Such high-speed operational amplifiers are in demand today for application in drivers of high-speed ADCs (AD9208, AD9691, etc.), and as active elements in circuits of analog-to-discrete filters on switched capacitors. It is proposed to introduce (according to the developed rules) a nonlinear differentiating RC-circuit realized based on an additional differential stage and a differentiating capacitor of small capacitance into the classical OpAmps with one integrating correction capacitance. Such circuit "additives" practically do not change the low-signal dynamic and static parameters of the OpAmp, and at a large signal during the transient front, when the input stage enters the nonlinear mode, form a large current overcharge of the integrating correction capacitor. Consequently, the $\text{SR}_{\text{M}}$ of the OpAmp is significantly increased.

Modeling trajectories in cigarette smoking prevalence, initiation and quitting for populations and subgroups of populations is important for policy planning and evaluation. This paper proposes an agent-based model (ABM) design for simulating the smoking behaviors of a population using the Capability, Opportunity, Motivation - Behavior (COM-B) model. Capability, Opportunity and Motivation are modeled as latent composite attributes which are composed of observable factors associated with smoking behaviors. Three forms of the COM-B model are proposed to explain the transitions between smoking behaviors: initiating regular smoking uptake, making a quit attempt and quitting successfully. The ABM design follows object-oriented principles and extends an existing generic software architecture for mechanism-based modeling. The potential of the model to assess the impact of smoking policies is illustrated and discussed.

Factory waste includes the incomplete combustion of industrial fuels that causes carbon to precipitate in vents. These carbons might be put to good use. Therefore, the impact of using waste carbon in factories to produce electricity is investigated in this study by evaluating electrical characteristics: the type of electrode material's suitability, the size of the electrode's carbon contact surface area, and the distance between the electrodes. According to the findings, the maximum open circuit voltage (V oc ) was 1.09 V for copper (+) and zinc (-) electrode materials, 1.11 V for the electrode's carbon contact surface area, and 1.29 V for the electrodes' spacing. The maximum of V oc was 1.11 V, maximum on-load voltage and current were 0.64V, 124.65 mA for optimum electrode carbon contact surface size 40 cm 2 . Optimum electrode distance at 2 cm that maximum open circuit voltage (V oc ) was 1.29 V. The maximum load voltage and current were 0.77V, 128.32mA. Factory waste carbon can be useful in some applications for producing electricity from waste carbon and assisting in the reduction of factory waste.

Security issues are of significant importance for cyber-physical systems (CPS), where the attack design is a major concern. Most related studies on attack design implicitly consider that the control period and detection period are the same. However, the two periods could be different in practical systems with remote detection such as supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, which could lead to new vulnerabilities for attackers. In this paper, we consider the design of innovation-based linear attack strategies for CPS when the control period and detection period are inconsistent. Specifically, we propose an attack framework that consists of attack strategies for detection and non-detection instants under the period discrepancy. On this basis, we design the optimal stealthy innovation-based linear attack strategies for state estimation and LQG control to maximize the estimation error or control cost, respectively. Simulations are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed attack strategies.

Preserving the topology from being inferred by external adversaries has become a paramount security issue for network systems (NSs), and adding random noises to the nodal states provides a promising way. Nevertheless, recent works have revealed that the topology cannot be preserved under i.i.d. noises in the asymptotic sense. How to effectively characterize the non-asymptotic preservation performance still remains an open issue. Inspired by the deviation quantification of concentration inequalities, this paper proposes a novel metric named trace-based variance-expectation ratio. This metric effectively captures the decaying rate of the topology inference error, where a slower rate indicates better non-asymptotic preservation performance. We prove that the inference error will always decay to zero asymptotically, as long as the added noises are non-increasing and independent (milder than the i.i.d. condition). Then, the optimal noise design that produces the slowest decaying rate for the error is obtained. More importantly, we amend the noise design by introducing one-lag time dependence, achieving the zero state deviation and the non-zero topology inference error in the asymptotic sense simultaneously. Extensions to a general class of noises with multi-lag time dependence are provided. Comprehensive simulations verify the theoretical findings. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

High-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems have developed rapidly in recent years. Continuous commutation failure is a serious malfunction in HVDC transmission systems, which results in the blockage of the converter station. Though commutation failure is inevitable when serious AC side faults occur, continuous commutation failure can be prevented by control methods based on a sensitive and accurate forecast. However, the HVDC transmission systems are complex and nonlinear when commutation failure occurs. Thus, analytical methods are limited. Hence, a new forecasting method based on machine learning is introduced. First, this paper analyses the physical process of commutation failures. Commutation voltage, direct current, and advancing firing angle are the main factors that affect the commutation failure of HVDC. Second, this paper realizes the training and evaluation of the continuous commutation failure classification and probabilistic forecasting model. Data processing and feature engineering methods have significantly improved the model performance. Finally, the proposed model is tested on the CIGRE benchmark system. The proposed model can predict whether a continuous commutation failure will occur within tens of milliseconds after the first commutation failure, where the risk of continuous commutation failure is greatly reduced. © The Institution of engineering and Technology.

The purpose of this paper is to show how to identify and handle suspension system vibrations using two different control strategies: Sliding Mode control (SMC) and a Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller. A four-degree-of-freedom (4DOF) half-car suspension model is used. Suspension performance factors such as ride comfort, suspension deflection, and vehicle handling necessitate a thorough control system. This control system, which is carried out with the MATLAB application, is made up of three components: the controller, the suspension system model, and input signals (road profile and actuator force). The simulation results illustrate a comparison between the uncontrolled suspension system and the half-car active suspension system's PID and SMC controllers. © 2023 IEEE.
