To better identify the objects in remote sensing images, the multispectral images with high spectral resolution and low spatial resolution, and the panchromatic images with high spatial resolution and low spectral resolution need to be fused. Many fusion techniques are discussed in the recent years to obtain images with high spectral resolution and also high spatial resolution. In this paper an image fusion technique, based on integrating both the Intensity-Hue-Saturation (IHS) and the Discrete Wavelet Frame Transform (DWFT), is proposed for boosting the quality of remote sensing images. A panchromatic and multispectral image from Landsat-7(ETM+) satellite has been fused using this new approach. Experimental results show that the proposed technique improves the spectral and spatial qualities of the fused images. Moreover, when this technique is applied to noisy and de-noised remote sensing images it can preserve the quality of the fused images. Comparison analyses between different fusion techniques are also presented and show that the proposed technique outperforms the other techniques.

In this paper a parametric lineal model of heading is obtained, using a remote experimentation platform for marine vehicles. This platform has an in-scale fast-ferry physical model, TF-120 which is autonomous and has all the elements required to emulate a real vessel. The physical model is controlled remotely from a PC using Wi-Fi communications. The tests for the data acquisition with the platform for marine vehicles were carried out in the surroundings of the Bay of Santander. The parametric model identified is used to design a PID controller for heading autopilot and a simulation of this system is performed in Simulink.

In this work, different relaxations applicable to an MPC problem with binary control signals are compared. The relaxations considered are the QP relaxation, the standard SDP relaxation and an alternative equality constrained SDP relaxation. The relaxations are related theoretically, and both the tightness of the bounds and the computational complexities are compared in numerical experiments. The result is that for long prediction horizons, the equality constrained SDP relaxation proposed in this paper provides a good trade-off between the quality of the relaxation and the computational time.

We demonstrate the feasibility to make a temperature-independent strain sensor by measuring the bandwidth of the reflected light from the tapered fiber grating (TFG). This simple and low-cost sensor approach has a considerable potential, particularly application to strain sensing in the smart structures. The experimental results show that the method is suitable for distribution measurement, and it can restrain the influence of source fluctuation.

This paper presents a design method of controlsystems such that a designer can flexibly take account of tradeoffs between evaluated uncertainty ranges and the level of control performance. The problem is reduced to a BMI problem and approximately solved by LMIs. The convergence of the proposed approximation is proved in a modified sense. A numerical example shows the effectiveness of the proposed method in comparison with the standard robust control.

In this paper the realization and implementation of a multi-controller scheme made of a finite set of linear multiple-input-multiple-output controllers, possibly having different state dimensions, is considered. The problem of bumpless switching between the active controller acting in closed-loop and another controller in the set of controllers waiting to take over the control loop is addressed. A non minimal parametrization of the set of controllers such that all controllers share the same state variables is presented, and it is shown that such a parametrization guarantees bumpless switching between any two controllers within the controller set.

According to the Gestalt principals, in this paper, we model features for measuring the attraction degree between couples of image components, and grouping areas in trademark images are recognized. This investigation would be used for content-based image retrieval from the view of mirroring human perception for images. The features of proximity, shape similarity, closure, and good continuation are extracted from every combination of two components in an image. After that, according to results of the judgments, a grouping pattern for the query is fixed. Besides, changing combination of the features, the proposed method can output plural grouping patterns. In the experiments, we have evaluated the proposed method on 74 test images comparing between outputs by the proposed method and grouping patterns for the test images obtained from results of questionnaires by 104 participants.
