We address the problem of sequential parameter estimation over networks using the Bayesian methodology. Each node sequentially acquires independent observations, where all the observations in the network contain signal(s) with unknown parameters. The nodes aim at obtaining accurate estimates of the unknown parameters and to that end, they collaborate with their neighbors. They communicate to the neighbors their latest posterior distributions of the unknown parameters. The nodes fuse the received information by using mixtures with weights proportional to the predictive distributions obtained from the respective node posteriors. Then they update the fused posterior using the next acquired observation, and the process repeats. We demonstrate the performance of the proposed approach with computer simulations and confirm its validity.

In order to guarantee the proper operation of grid-connected power converters, a correct synchronization with utility networks is required to extract quickly and precisely the fundamental signal. This paper presents an experimental verification of the performance of an architecture called Generalized filtering Enhanced Phase-Locked Loop, proposed in [1] to detect the amplitude, the frequency and the phase of a sinusoidal signal from a noisy measurement. The considered application regards the synchronization of the power converters with the utility network. The GEPLL scheme is characterized by an error filter and a phase-feed forward term that are embedded in the estimation algorithm for improved noise rejection and transient performances. By properly selecting the transfer function of the error filter the transient dynamic performance is improved. The presence of measurement bias and the effect of high frequency noise and harmonics are taken into account by suitably selecting the parameters of the Phase Locked Loop. Both the single and three phase grid connected power inverter systems are considered. The comparison with the original Enhanced Phase- Locked Loop shows the superior performances of the proposed Generalized filtering Enhanced Phase-Locked Loop.

This paper presents two novel heuristic algorithms for the design of wireless access networks (QoS-HWNDA-1, QoSHWNDA-2) adapted in the case of QoS networks, which is the prevalent situation in the evolution of 5G technology. Emphasis was given to the design of CDMA based wireless networks and Fixed Wireless networks considering QoS architectures. The objectives of these methods are first to place a number of access points/base stations in a number of candidate sites and then to assign a number of fixed wireless terminals to the selected access points/base stations, while ensuring QoS requirements. Both methods are based on Graph Theory and they are essentially greedy algorithms. Except from capacity constraints, wireless reception characteristics are also considered. The algorithms are capable of designing medium and large-scale networks at polynomial time. Both algorithms were compared with a rival optimization problem through a series of tests. The results indicate that as regards design costs the performance of the proposed heuristic algorithms is very close to this of the equivalent optimization problem. The solution times for the proposed heuristic algorithms are smaller especially when the number of the candidate access points/base stations becomes large. © 2016 IEEE.

There is a great attention on researches where possible alternatives to the CMOS chip based computer systems are examined, such as the computer systems based on the principle of magnetic spin waves. Theoretically these systems have low-loss, high speed and possibly non-volatile memories. By using simulations the positioning of the spin based structures and their consequences, the outputs can be tested, namely the operations on the input is determined by the topology. The result is affected by the shape and the distance of the cells which transmits waves. The question of how to get from a series of input to the desired output can be determined by using genetic algorithm. In micro magnetic simulations one of the hardest part of the simulation is the computation of the magnetic field, which is a long-range interaction. The goal is the acceleration of a magnetic-field simulator based on FPGA.

The paper prototypes one enabler of the Internet of Energy that is autonomous collaborative energy storage devices. The case study investigates an intelligent parking lot of electric vehicles, using them as home energy storages. The vehicles implement decentralized battery coordination, where batteries exchange their State of Charge data along with getting online information on price and electricity demand. The study proposes a decentralised cooperation mechanism for the electric vehicles, which assumes mutual access to the energy stored in every battery in order to reduce the costs for everyone. The effect of such cooperation is evaluated under assumption of random presence of vehicles at the parking lot. The results demonstrated feasible costs reduction under different parking lot occupancy scenarios for every member of such a proposed collaborative society.

The biggest challenge for existing offshore wind farms is the bulky and costly offshore substation. Series-connected offshore wind farm configuration, on the other hand, featuring no offshore substation, is getting increased attention in the research. In this study, a medium frequency transformer (MFT)-based configuration is proposed for such series-connected offshore wind farms. The proposed configuration consists of two parts, offshore and onshore. The modular multilevel converter (MMC) is employed at onshore, while the offshore part is composed of numbers of series-connected wind turbine-based systems. Each wind turbine-based system consists of a medium-voltage permanent magnet synchronous generator, a passive three-phase rectifier, and a modular MFT-based converter. By contrast to the commercial offshore wind farm, the proposed configuration features low cost thanks to the series-connected structure; by contrast to configurations in the literature, the present configuration features high power density, high reliability and flexibility thanks to the adoption of the modular MFT-based converter. Apart from fulfilling traditional control objectives (maximum power point tracking, dc-link voltage control, and reactive power regulation), this work endeavors to ensure evenly distributed power and voltage sharing among the constituent modules given the cascaded structure of the MFT-based converter. Finally, simulated results are provided to verify its performance.

This paper proposes a set of evolving Takagi-Sugeno-Kang (TSK) fuzzy models of the nonlinear dynamics specific to the azimuth and position of Multi Input-Multi Output (MIMO) twin rotor aerodynamic systems. Separate Multi Input-Single Output (MISO) fuzzy models of the azimuth and pitch positions are derived for this MIMO system. The rule bases and the parameters of the MISO TSK fuzzy models are evolved by an online identification algorithm (OIA) that belongs to the class of incremental OIAs, which implement adding mechanisms. The experimental results conducted on aerodynamic system laboratory equipment prove the performance of the TSK fuzzy models by good output responses and root mean square error values. A performance comparison with a set of MISO TSK fuzzy models evolved by another incremental OIA is included.

During physical synthesis, global placement and incremental optimization steps such as gate sizing, buffer insertion and timing-driven placement, produce placements where cells are overlapped or misaligned with respect to sites and rows predefined in the used standard cell library. Therefore, a legalization procedure must be used to keep the placement legality. In the case of incremental optimization techniques, the legalization step can be applied as a final step, after each optimization iteration or even after each primitive placement transformation. Although different legalization strategies are used by different works on incremental optimization techniques found in the literature, they do not present practical results on how those different strategies impact on the runtime and quality of the optimized placements. This work investigates such issue by comparing the runtime, timing degradation, density profile and wirelength resulted from using three legalization strategies on an incremental timing driven placement technique. Experimental results show that incremental legalization is from 22% to 71% faster than a single final legalization step and achieves similar density and wirelength profiles, but may increase timing violations up to 48% (9% on average). On the other hand, legalizing the circuit after each optimization iteration is the least interesting strategy, since it leads to similar quality results than a single final legalization, at the cost of a runtime about 3.2 times greater on average. Therefore, incremental legalization may be an interesting strategy for incremental optimization techniques due to its shorter runtime. Finally, we point out alternatives to improve the quality of incremental legalization techniques.

A simple exposition was carried out for the power train's structure of the electric vehicle. Based on this, another simple exposition was designing the electronic differential which was based on various control theories. And detailed exposition was made upon the structure, the object and the control strategy of the electronic differential. Then, the combined simulation of distributed driving electric vehicle with Carsim/Simulink is determined. Detailed exposition was interface settings of the distributed electric drive system and the properly configured vehicle, the setting of key parameters for modeling. The effectiveness of the electronic differential system is verified by the test results and the simulation platform for the study of electronic differential system of electric vehicle.

This paper describes DC link voltage control method of single phase back-to-back converter for medium voltage motor drive system. Cascaded H-Bridge (CHB) topology is widely used to achieve medium voltage operation and low harmonic distortion, simultaneously. Each power cell of CHB should have the isolated DC link voltage by using input transformer and rectifier. Instead of three phase Active Front-End (AFE) which is mostly used, using single phase AFE could make the structure of input transformer and power cell be simple. However, even in the same three phase windings of the input transformer, the DC link voltage of each single phase AFE might be different due to the power imbalance of each phase. In this paper, DC link voltage balancing control method that uses the negative sequence voltage of converter is described. The proposed method is verified with experimental results. The DC link voltage of each AFE has been controlled within 1% error of its reference value.
