This paper presents a case study on adaptive one pedal driving for a battery electric sport utility vehicle with in wheel based rear-wheel drive that is able to adjust the drive pedal curve automatically. In addition, a fuzzy logic observes the state of the electric machines to adapt the motor torque to the most efficient region. The control method was tested in a co-simulation using a validated vehicle model and a driver-in-the-loop strategy. Within the experiments, an improvement in energy recovery of up to 4.8 % was achieved compared to the classic brake blending. In addition, the total number of brake pedal applications is ten times lower, which translates into less driving stress and greater driving comfort, especially on long distance trips, proving the effectiveness of the controller. © 2025 IEEE.

Industrial maintenance is crucial for companies due to its significant impact on operational costs and efficiency. Many industrial firms find that a substantial portion of their expenses stems from equipment breakdowns, failures, or suboptimal performance over time. These costs can sometimes account for up to 50% of overall expenditures. Additionally, companies face various losses, including downtime from breakdowns, challenges in inventory and purchase management, and potential risks of injuries. The objective of this writing is to investigate how Predive maintenance is a footstep towards industry 5.0 where automation of predictive maintenance is evolved to autonomy in maintenance. In addition to it various machine learning algorithms are suggested to identify between healthy and poor data of a machine which is first step in Predictive maintenance then Deep learning algorithms to construct XAI (Explainable artificial Intelligence). Predictive maintenance, production scheduling, problem detection, predictive quality, and increased energy efficiency are highlighted in the typical use cases of the selected AI applications. Data from the real environment is transmitted to be virtually recreated. Efficient industrial maintenance helps mitigate these costs by reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and lowering the need for emergency repairs. By implementing a well-designed and optimized maintenance strategy, production plants can ensure their equipment operates as reliably as possible, minimizing disruptions and enhancing overall operational efficiency. Machine Learning (ML) methods have been appeared as a crucial tool in Predictive Maintenance (PdM) applications to prevent failures in equipment that make up the production lines. However, the performance of PdM applications depends on the appropriate choice of the ML method. To save expenses, find inefficiencies, duplicate tool tracking systems, and do other tasks, Digital Twin evaluates material utilization

Even though numerous ICT-based solutions have been put forth for the detection of accidents and rescue missions, they often suffer from compatibility issues with different vehicles and are accompanied by high costs. This paper introduces a cutting-edge intelligent system designed for accident detection and rescue, mirroring human cognitive functions through integrating the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence. A specialized kit for IoT has been created to identify accidents and gather comprehensive incident-related data, such as pressure, position, gravitational force, and speed. This information is then transmitted to the cloud for processing. A deep learning model is implemented in the cloud environment to verify the IoT module's output and activate the rescue mechanism when an accident is detected. The DL module, employing ensemble transfer learning with dynamic weights, aims to minimize false detection rates. Because there isn't an appropriate dataset available, a personalized dataset is generated from diverse online videos. To validate the proposed method, a comparative analysis is conducted on Yolo V4. Experimental results indicate that Yolo V4 outperforms, achieving training, validation, and test accuracies of 98.2% each. To assess the system's real-world applicability, it undergoes validation using a robot car model. Copyright © 2025 KSII.

When Industry 4.0 technology is applied, it can increase resilience in production systems with interconnected machines and workers. As it is still evolving, research and implementation gaps due to issues such as costs, security, and a lack of use cases and domain expertise for enabling Digital Twins, need to be bridged. This paper proposes a framework connecting an Internet of Things platform with Digital Twin-compliant software based on ISO 23247. The simulation software provides cognitive support for the user who is immersed in the Digital Twin through Virtual Reality, and provides applications such as remote control and exploration of what-if scenarios. Connectivity with an Internet of Things platform facilitates real-time bi-directional communication, collaboration, monitoring, and assistance. A proof-of-concept use case based on an assembly line for a lab-scale drone factory was used for validation of the deployed Digital Twin based on ISO 23347.

From theory to practice: Efficiently checking BGP configurations for guaranteed convergence

Internet Service Providers can enforce a fine-grained control of Interdomain Routing by cleverly configuring the Border Gateway Protocol. However, the price to pay for the flexibility of BGP is the lack of convergence guarantees. The literature on network protocol design introduced several sufficient conditions that routing policies should satisfy to guarantee convergence. However, a methodology to systematically check BGP policies for convergence is still missing. This paper presents two fundamental contributions. First, we describe a heuristic algorithm that statically checks BGP configurations for guaranteed routing convergence. Our algorithm has several highly desirable properties: i) it exceeds state-of-the-art algorithms by correctly reporting more configurations as stable, ii) it can be implemented efficiently enough to analyze Internet-scale configurations, iii) it is free from false positives, namely never reports a potentially oscillating configuration as stable, and iv) it can help spot troublesome points in a detected oscillation. Second, we propose an architecture for a modular tool that exploits our algorithm to process native router configurations and report the presence of potential oscillations. Such a tool can effectively integrate syntactic checkers and assist operators in verifying configurations. We validate our approach using a prototype implementation and show that it scales well enough to enable Internet-scale convergence checks. © 2011 IEEE.

Scan matching using line segment relationships for map-based localization of mobile robot

A new scan matching method for mobile robot localization is presented, which takes line segment as the feature and matches the real scans in the given reference map by relationships of the directional-defined line segments. The alignment was done by hierarchically identifying the multiple relationships and the result was recorded in a correspondence matrix, where the best match is defined and selected for localization. It is indicated that the searching algorithm of the best match can find the ambiguities and get rid of them. This method with less computational cost works well in occluded environment, and can correct the error in pose estimation without the need for the estimation itself. The efficiency, accuracy and robustness of this method were verified by experiments of localization in an occluded environment and a long-distance indoor navigation.

In this paper we discuss a parallel implementation of an artificial neural network for pattern association, the Bidirectional Associative Memory (BAM). The parallelism inherent in BAM has been exploited using various transputer-based architectures like hypercube, mesh and linear array. The speedup and utilization of the system are obtained for the architectures mentioned above and a comparative study is made. Simulation results show that the hypercube topology gives a better performance in terms of speedup and utilization when compared to other architectures.

The gender gap is a problem that affects all areas and regions in the world. The lack of females depends on different external and internal factors that make it a complex problem. In particular, this gap is most pronounced in engineering. Engineering and technical studies have a shortage of female vocations and a high dropout rate. In this paper, we present the pilot peer-mentoring programme, which has been carried out in the 2020-21 academic year at the University of Salamanca in the Higher Polytechnic School of Zamora. Mentoring has been given to first-year female students of engineering degrees. The implementation of the pilot programme has provided helpful information for implementing the mentoring programme from the 2021-22 academic year. © 2021 IEEE.

Superscalar processors currently have the potential to fetch multiple basic blocks per cycle by employing one of several recently proposed instruction fetch mechanisms. However, this increased fetch bandwidth cannot be exploited unless pipeline stages further downstream correspondingly improve. In particular, register renaming a large number of instructions per cycle is difficult. A large instruction window, needed to receive multiple basic blocks per cycle, will slow down dependence resolution and instruction issue. This paper addresses these and related issues by proposing (i) partitioning of the instruction window into multiple blocks, each holding a dynamic code sequence;(ii) logical partitioning of the register file into a global file and several local files, the latter holding registers local to a dynamic code sequence;(iii) the dynamic recording and reuse of register renaming information for registers local to a dynamic code sequence. Performance studies show these mechanisms improve performance over traditional superscalar processors by factors ranging from 1.5 to a little over 3 for the SPEC Integer programs. Next, it is observed that several of the loops in the benchmarks display vector-like behavior during execution, even if the static loop bodies are likely complex for compile-time vectorization. A dynamic loop vectorization mechanism that builds on top of the above mechanisms is briefly outlined. The mechanism vectorizes up to 60% of the dynamic instructions for some programs, albeit the average number of iterations per loop is quite small.
