This study evaluates outdoor thermal comfort in Labban Square, El Mina, Lebanon, using ENVI-met, a microclimate simulation tool designed to support urban planning and outdoor environmental design. A pedestrian flow analysis was conducted to identify the primary walking path through the square, which guided the redesign of the urban greenery layout. The study includes a comparative assessment of thermal comfort before and after implementing the redesigned greenery plan. Results demonstrate the significant influence of urban greenery on improving the thermal comfort of the square, providing valuable insights into the role of vegetation in mitigating urban heat and enhancing outdoor spaces for pedestrians. By integrating pedestrian movement data with microclimate simulation, this research highlights the importance of green infrastructure in creating more livable and comfortable urban environments, especially in areas with hot climates. The findings also offer urban planners and landscape designers' practical guidance for optimizing outdoor thermal comfort through pedestrian-based urban greenery planning. © 2024 IEEE.

Since plagiarism is a major problem in both academic and professional settings, it is crucial to create effective plagiarism detection methods. Accuracy evaluation for classical models such as SVM, Naive Bayes, and Random Forests usually involves cross-validation, where the dataset is split into training and testing folds, and the accuracy for each fold is then computed. These techniques lack the neural network-like loss functions, but they can still be used to analyze model performance by charting accuracy against the number of folds. But in CNNs and RNNs, training entails updating a loss function over epochs through iterative optimization;for classification problems, this is usually categorical cross-entropy. The values of the loss function are monitored during training, and the convergence of the model is shown by graphing them against the number of epochs. Accuracy metrics are calculated in parallel for the training and validation stages, and the model's classification accuracy throughout successive epochs is displayed in graphs. The plagiarism detector provides users with a complete report that highlights plagiarized portions together with their original sources which results in 97.99% of accuracy in order to aid educators, researchers, and other professionals in preventing plagiarism. © 2024 IEEE.

Ocean animals and plants are in danger because there is a lot of trash in the water. This old way of keeping an eye on trash made of plastic in the ocean is hard to do, takes a long time, and can't be used to check the whole ocean. In this plan, the new deep learning algorithms, called You Only Look Once version 8 (YOLOv8), are used to find and sort plastics in the ocean right away. There's a new way to handle this subject. Everyone knows YOLOv8 for how fast and well it can find things. It has been changed in this study to deal with the problems that only happen when taking pictures underwater, like changing light, cloudy water, and different kinds of plastic. A unique set of labeled underwater pictures are used to help it find different kinds of plastic very accurately and quickly. They are different sizes and shapes. Together, YOLOv8 and underwater robotic platforms make a useful and adaptable way to always keep an eye on the ocean. This collects useful information that can be used to protect the environment and lower pollution. Better tools for keeping an eye on the environment are made possible by the study. It also shows how cutting edge AI can be used to solve big environmental problems. © 2024 IEEE.

One of the helpful tool for measuring and managing home power consumption is one of the clever and creative tool for tracking the usage of Home Power Management System. The Goal of this system is to lower the power bills, also promote energy efficiency, and provide the users active control over how much energy they use. Smart meters, an intuitive and user-friendly smartphone app, and real-time energy monitoring sensors are some of the system's essential parts and these are the key parts of the system. Installing smart meters makes it possible to accurately track the power usage and provide data to the system. Users can be able to see their energy usage instantly and make smart decisions when real-time energy monitoring equipment is included. Further, the system uses advanced smart technology, analytics and machine learning algorithms to provide clients customized suggestions on how to save energy consumption. Homes may save a lot of money on electricity bills, help the environment, and have more control over how much energy they use by using our Smart Home Power Management System. © 2024 IEEE.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a chronic lung disease that constitutes one of the top 10 global causes of death. Timely and precise identification of TB is critical, as untreated cases can pose life-threatening risks. Traditional radiographic interpretation by trained professionals is subjective, time-consuming, and prone to human error. This study proposes an automated deep learning-based approach for TB detection from chest X-ray images, based on EfficientNet-B0 architecture. The Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) extracts discriminative features, allowing it to differentiate between normal and abnormal lung patterns indicative of TB. Our choice of the EfficientNet-B0 architecture played a pivotal role in the success of our TB detection model. Training and evaluation were conducted on three distinct datasets: Tuberculosis (TB) Chest X-ray Database, Shenzhen Hospital CXR Set, and Montgomery County CXR Set. The key breakthrough is attaining an accuracy of 99.29% on the Tuberculosis (TB) Chest X-ray Database and 98.50% on the combined dataset. This study presents a promising approach for automated TB screening using readily available chest X-ray images, potentially improving diagnostic accuracy and efficiency, especially in resource-limited settings. We compared our scores with those of other works and found that ours significantly outperforms them. © 2024 IEEE.

The need for intelligent traffic management solutions is crucial in the rapidly evolving fields of autonomous traffic control and navigation systems, particularly for minimizing traffic accidents and ensuring the efficient operation of traffic signals. Improving traffic safety is of paramount importance, as road accidents claim over a million lives annually worldwide, with a significant proportion of these fatalities occurring in developing countries like Bangladesh. This research aims to develop a smart assistant capable of identifying and categorizing traffic signs to enhance road safety, especially in areas where drivers may not be fully aware of traffic regulations. To achieve this, we generated a comprehensive dataset containing 5,540 distinct images of traffic signs collected from various regions across Bangladesh, including highways, rural and urban roads, and challenging locations such as steep curves. The dataset comprises 41 categories of traffic signs. The dataset includes challenges such as color variations, blurriness, occlusion, small sign sizes, and low-light conditions. To further enhance the dataset's diversity, data augmentation techniques such as random rotations, shearing, and zooming were applied. We trained the YOLOv8 deep learning model, renowned for its real-time object detection capabilities, on this dataset. The model achieved impressive results, with a mean Average Precision (mAP) of 0.80, a recall of 0.87, a precision of 0.92, and an F1 score of 0.89, demonstrating its effectiveness in real-world traffic sign detection and classification. © 2024 IEEE.

Workplace injuries are a critical concern, with millions occurring annually, leading to substantial human and economic costs. This study focuses on a qualitative analysis based on statistics from 2013 to 2017, with a specific emphasis on fatal and non-fatal workplace accidents within the European Union (EU) and Romania. The primary objective is to assess Romania's workplace safety status in the context of the EU and to propose strategic measures for improvement. To achieve this goal, four key indicators and statistical datasets are utilized, sourced from the National Institute of Statistics (NIS) of Romania, the Eurostat database of the European Commission, and the Romanian Labor Inspection. These indicators include the rate of incidence frequency index for occupational accidents, the average duration index, the frequency index for fatal accidents, and the severity index, enabling a comprehensive evaluation of accident frequency and severity. The rate of incidence, measuring injuries per 100,000 workers, is a pivotal indicator. Additionally, the study calculates the frequency index of non-fatal accidents (injuries per 1,000 employees) and the fatal accident frequency index (injuries per 1,000 workers). Statistical findings are rigorously validated through ANOVA analysis and T-tests. Following data evaluation, the study offers strategic recommendations informed by national and European strategies, including the National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Strategy for 2017-2020 and the "EU Strategic Framework on Health and Safety at Work"spanning 2014 to 2020. This paper is part of undergraduate coursework addressing the ecological impacts of urbanization and industrialization, with a focus on water pollution and diminishing water resources in Bahrain coastal areas. The study analyzes water samples from Tubli Bay, Al-Hidd Walkway, and Busaiteen Beach using methodologies such as pH testing, turbidity assessment, conductivity measurement, Total Solids (TS), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) analysis. Key parameters, including pH, temperature, and turbidity, were assessed against international standards from the World Health Organization and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Results indicated pH levels ranged from 7.15 to 7.44 and turbidity from 20.7 NTU to 22.1 NTU, suggesting suspended particles from sediment runoff and anthropogenic activities. Elevated TDS and conductivity measurements reflect significant salinity in the coastal areas studied. The objectives include monitoring water quality, evaluating compliance with regulatory standards, and assessing pollution impacts on aquatic ecosystems. © 2024 IEEE.

Medical imaging plays a pivotal role in diagnosing and monitoring various diseases, and accurate polyp segmentation is essential for early disease detection and treatment planning. However, the scarcity of well-Annotated medical imaging data hampers the development of effective segmentation models. Semi-supervised learning stands out as a critical approach to address this issue. Traditional semi-supervised medical image segmentation models leverage strong-weak perturbation consistency losses to provide supervision signals. While these losses are effective in promoting consistency, they often exhibit a drawback, that is the dominance of strong perturbations during early training stages. This dominance hinders the model's ability to extract meaningful features, ultimately impacting its overall performance. In response to these challenges, we introduce a novel training method applied to polyp segmentation. We employ a progressive approach, gradually introducing strong-weak perturbation supervision signals. This gradual guidance empowers the model to focus on learning relevant features from the beginning of training, mitigating the issue of early dominance and enhancing its performance. Our method is evaluated on two widely-used polyp segmentation datasets and surpasses state-of-The-Art methods, demonstrating substantial improvements in segmentation accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.
