Gas hydrates have been increasingly recognized as a potential renewable energy source for the last two decades. Additionally, various studies have shown that the formation of gas hydrates within sediments can enhance soil stiffness by reducing the permeability of sediments, suggesting usage as a ground improvement material, especially in marine sedimentary. Enhancing the formation rate of gas hydrates is crucial for practical applications. Much research has been done exploring substances known as promoters that could increase the forming rate of gas hydrates. This paper aims to review types of conventional and emerging promoters and introduces biopolymers, specifically xanthan gum, as a novel promoter. We have conducted a series of high-pressure, low-temperature condition experiments to see the effects of biopolymer on gas hydrate formation. Results showed remarkable CO2 gas consumption differences due to biopolymers, indicating the potential for biopolymers as an environment-friendly soil improvement material. © ASCE.

Creating an autonomous wheelchair system based on EEG (electroencephalogram) signals is a fascinating and challenging concept. In non-invasive Brain robot Interface (BRI), scalp EEG signals acquired from the multiple channels come with different artifact types, majorly as an electrooculogram (EoG). Also, all the channels don't carry equally important information regarding the particular motor activities. The primary contribution of this paper is to denoise the EEG signal and then find the optimal channels to achieve the most informative EEG signals for the motor activity recognition. Thus, this research proposes a model where firstly t he E oG a rtifacts h ave b een removed from EEG signals with the regression method and other noises with Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). Secondly, It proposes a model of selecting optimal channels using a hybrid feature selection process, which includes a filter a nd w rapper method using sequential floating forward search (SFFS). Maximum Class Separability (MCS) and Support Vector Machine (SVM), both have been used for evaluating the channels. Then again SVM has been applied for classifying the motor activities by the signals recorded from the optimal channels. A dataset with four classes of human motor activities has been used for evaluating the whole proposed model. This proposed model shows the highest accuracy of 84.15% for the optimal channel set with Standard Deviation (STD) feature among other optimal channel sets of features. © 2023 IEEE.

A data-driven application, Yelp has always served and will always serve as one. It is one of the first companies that allows local businesses to receive reviews from their customers. Communities have always developed it in cooperation with each other. According to Yelp, the data-set contains information regarding businesses, reviews, users, and check-ins, and has continuously been updated since 2015. A project titled "Analyzing Yelp Open-Source Data-set in Azure Data Bricks"will analyze this data-set which has been made available as an open source for sentiment analysis and descriptive analysis. This study analyzes local business performance, business distribution, review ratings, and other factors, as well as check-in rates in American business locations over time. This analysis shows that the Yelp is losing reviews, tips, elite users, and check-ins. © 2024 IEEE.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a crucial imaging modality in ophthalmology, offering detailed retinal images essential for diagnosing various retinal disorders. In this study, we investigate the application of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and transfer learning to classify retinal OCT images. We compare a custom CNN model with two pretrained models, MobileNet and VGG16, to explore their effectiveness in categorizing retinal diseases. Our study focuses on improving classification accuracy through image enhancement techniques, training methodologies, and model evaluation using confusion matrices. The results highlight the VGG16-based CNN model as the most effective, demonstrating its potential for accurate classification of retinal disorders based on OCT images. Furthermore, we delve into strategies to further enhance the performance of these models, such as data augmentation, finetuning, and hyperparameter tuning. We discuss the importance of these techniques in optimizing model performance and reducing overfitting. Additionally, we emphasize the significance of evaluating models using confusion matrices to gain insights into their performance across different classes. Overall, our findings suggest that CNNs, particularly the VGG16based model, hold promise for improving the automated diagnosis of retinal diseases using OCT imaging, which could lead to better patient outcomes in ophthalmology. © 2024 IEEE.

The limited autonomy of flight has long been considered a significant constraint in drone systems. In the context of drone inspections of power lines, this study focuses on a drone equipped with a coil designed for autonomous battery charging. Positioned atop the drone is a charging coil, and on the upper surface, there is an upward-facing camera with a restricted field-of-view (FOV), serving the crucial role of aligning the drone with power lines. This research introduces a wireless power transfer strategy to facilitate the self-charging process of the drone while maintaining its position beneath power lines. To enable the drone's autonomous approach to power lines, a method is devised to guide the drone from below. As the drone approaches the power lines, it monitors the current induced by these lines and gradually adjusts its altitude until a sufficiently high induced current is achieved. The proposed approach ensures safety, as the drone avoids direct contact with high-voltage power lines, setting it apart from other existing methods that require such contact. To the best of our knowledge, this study offers a novel approach to precisely controlling drone movements, and establishing reliable wireless power transfer from power lines. The effectiveness of the developed wireless transfer strategy has been verified through MATLAB simulations. © 2024 IEEE.

Security in healthcare systems based on blockchain technology is the subject of ongoing research. Block Chain technology has the potential to revolutionize many different sectors since it provides a decentralized, incontestable, and publicly verifiable record of every transaction activity. Bitcoin's foundational mechanism is referred to as 'block chain technology.' This technology allows for completely decentralized transaction processing. Healthcare aims to diagnose, treat, relieve, and cure any and all bodily and mental health issues, as well as to promote health and prevent sickness. Since all transactions in a blockchain are encrypted, it provides the highest level of security possible. Blockchain networks provide the same assurance of security for medical records. The integrity of the network's ledgers may be checked by checking file signatures on each node to make sure no alterations have been performed. The signature will no longer be valid when the record has been modified. The future of blockchain and big data applications is promising. Big Data technology can manage any kind, amount, or speed of data, while blockchain enhances efficiency across all industries. It has been noticed that medical records are maintained on a blockchain for reasons of security. Proposed system has evaluated healthcare data for security. When compared to the results of cutting-edge research, however, the scalability and adaptability of traditional methods are clearly lacking. Better performance and security utilizing blockchain technology is essential, hence developing such a system is a priority. © 2024 IEEE.

Hypertension and stroke are significant worldwide health issues with high prevalence and complex health hazards. Hypertensive state implications include death or major complications such as myocardial infarction. This study leverages data from the Internet to foresee the prognosis for individuals with hypertensive strokes. There are two main components to the clinical outcome prediction in this study. The value of various variables is ranked by our model through the use of cross-validation techniques, recursive feature disposal, and classification algorithms such as Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest (RF), and Logistic Regression (LR). Our empirical cross-validation results demonstrate the remarkable predictive reliability of both LR and RF once repetitive features are removed, even with a smaller set of features and classifiers. Particularly in terms of accuracy, F1 score, and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), logistic regression performs better than the other two classifiers. Likewise, we conducted independent prediction analyses for hypertension, hypertensive stroke, and stroke. The highest result of 96.15% is obtained using logistic regression for stroke prediction. The random forest classifier has an accuracy of 91.25% for hypertension, and combining stroke with a hypertension support vector classifier gives 91.72% accuracy. This demonstrates how well it might provide patients with hypertensive strokes with precise and trustworthy projections. Finally, our study illuminates the potentially useful prediction powers of particular algorithms in determining the prognosis of patients with hypertensive strokes. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper describes modified robust algorithms for a line clipping by a convex polygon in E2 and a convex polyhedron in E3. The proposed algorithm is based on the Cyrus-Beck algorithm and uses homogeneous coordinates to increase the robustness of computation. The algorithm enables computation fully in the projective space using the homogeneous coordinates and the line can be given in the projective space, in general. If the result can remain in projective space, no division operation is needed. Accurate road extraction from Remote Sensing Imagery (RSI) is crucial for various applications, including urban planning, navigation, and disaster response. This study investigates automated road extraction in rural, semi-urban and urban regions using deep learning architectures, specifically UNet and Deep Residual U-Net (ResNet) models. We leverage High-Resolution Satellite Imagery (HRSI) to train and validate our models, focusing on the distinct characteristics and challenges presented by urban and rural environments. Our methodology involves comprehensive data preprocessing and augmentation techniques to enhance model robustness. We evaluate the performance of both architectures using metrics and achieved an accuracy of 90.29%, recall of 80.95%, precision of 74.89%, and F1- score of 77.80% for the Deep Residual U-Net. Experimental results demonstrates that while both models perform well, the Deep Residual U-Net exhibits superior accuracy and generalization, particularly in complex urban landscapes. © 2024 IEEE.

To address these challenges, there is a growing need for automated attendance management systems. This research paper presents the design and implementation of an Automated Attendance Management System (AAMS) using modern technologies. The AAMS utilizes various technologies such as biometric recognition, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), and computer vision to accurately and efficiently track attendance. The system aims to simplify the attendance recording process for both students and instructors, reduce administrative burden, and improve overall efficiency. The proposed AAMS incorporates biometric recognition techniques, such as fingerprint scanning or facial recognition, to identify and verify the identity of individuals. © 2023 IEEE.
