This paper presents a mathematical modeling technique that allows for formulating a farmer decision problem. We use fuzzy logic and binary integer programming respectively to represent the factors and decision utilities in the problem. We will briefly look at the data requirements for this model. The techniques used in determining the fuzzy rule base will be discussed. We will show the application of artificial neural networks for determining the rule base in our model. A mathematical representation of the system will be created, which can act as an approximation for any problem formulation. Finally, we will use all these techniques on a sample problem, which uses simulated data.

Real-time mirror reflection is employed in many virtual reality applications to achieve visuo-haptic collocation. Its use, however, necessitates adjustments to the original model as well any used input devices to compensate for changes due to image reversion. This paper introduces a design and implementation of a generic configuration component for virtual environments that adjusts image characteristics and haptic interfaces to accommodate such setups while preserving the properties and features of the original model. Furthermore, this work executes running multiple display viewports for the same virtual environment synchronously. This work accomplishes a significant step in the development of a surgical simulator for the Nuss Procedure surgery performed to correct Pectus Excavatum, a congenital deformity of the anterior chest wall.

Crop growth programs and crop optimizers act as important decision support tools in selecting crops and influencing farmer decision process. However the crop optimizers do not always include the crop growth models while selecting the best possible crops. In this paper we will present the equations used to model a generic crop growth model and couple it with an optimal crop scheduler, to select the best possible sequence of crops. The scheduler aims to achieve various objectives like maximizing performance, maximizing economic gain and minimizing environmental impact. Each objective has three different configurations with regards to the crop rotation and crop growth period. The results will be visualized using a Gantt chart to show the scheduling of the crops.

Complexity associated with the design of experiments for simulation models can be reduced through visualization. DEVS-Suite, a new generation of the DEVS Tracking Envi-ronment which itself was extended from DEVSJAVA, sup-ports visual design of experiments and introduces simula-tion data visualization. Data generated by the selected models can be collected dynamically and displayed as time-based trajectories. These capabilities complement animation of DEVS model components and their interactions. A ser-vice-oriented software system is modeled to illustrate the novel modeling features for DEVS simulations. Another ex-ample is developed in Ptolemy II and SimEvents to show the reduced visual complexity afforded by DEVS-Suite.
