The World Health Organization report states that nearly 1.25 million people lose their lives due to an increasing number of road accidents every year. The majority of accidents are reported due to driver errors, which include distractions like the use of mobile phones and fatigue, which causes drowsiness. This study aims to address these issues by performing a comparative analysis between different deep learning models representing two types of learning mechanisms: Traditional deep learning and transfer learning. This study portrays the use of two datasets to accomplish this task. These two datasets are the Driver Drowsiness Dataset DDD and the State Farm Distracted Drivers Dataset. The purpose of this investigative research is to explore the execution and efficiency differences between three deep learning algorithms, the traditional convolutional neural network, ResNet50, and VGG16, in classifying driver behavior by training these models individually on both datasets. This study also targets developing an alarm system that sounds an alarm based on a threshold by using an ensemble of all the models trained for comparative study and averaging their predictions to classify driver behavior. VGG16 achieved an accuracy of 99.74% on the driver drowsiness dataset, whereas Custom CNN Architecture achieved an accuracy of 98.70% on the driver distraction dataset. © 2024 IEEE.

In this article, a new interconnecting modular full-bridge step-up LLC resonant converter for PV energy applications is proposed. The proposed converter module is capable of regulating power flow between modules through the use of pulse-width modulation (PWM) control on a new active voltage doubler based voltage balancer (VD), where an auxiliary switch is connected to the output VD. The input full bridge switches can be regulated with phase-shift control to achieve maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for all modules. Zero-voltage switching operation is realized on all module switches. This allows each of the converter modules to achieve a high efficiency while simultaneously achieving MPPT and balanced output voltage. The steady-state and dynamic performance of the designed system is validated on a four module 6kW, 8kV-output simulation and a scaled-down 500W, 700V-output two module laboratory prototype. © 2024 IEEE.

Cochlear Implant (CI) procedures involve performing an invasive mastoidectomy to insert an electrode array into the cochlea. In this paper, we introduce a novel pipeline that is capable of generating synthetic multi-view videos from a single CI microscope image. In our approach, we use a patient's pre-operative CT scan to predict the post-mastoidectomy surface using a method designed for this purpose. We manually align the surface with a selected microscope frame to obtain an accurate initial pose of the reconstructed CT mesh relative to the microscope. We then perform UV projection to transfer the colors from the frame to surface textures. Novel views of the textured surface can be used to generate a large dataset of synthetic frames with ground truth poses. We evaluated the quality of synthetic views rendered using Pytorch3D and PyVista. We found both rendering engines lead to similarly high-quality synthetic novel-view frames compared to ground truth with a structural similarity index for both methods averaging ∼0.86. A large dataset of novel views with known poses is critical for ongoing training of a method to automatically estimate microscope pose for 2D to 3D registration with the pre-operative CT to facilitate augmented reality surgery. This dataset will empower various downstream tasks, such as integrating Augmented Reality (AR) in the OR, tracking surgical tools, and supporting other video analysis studies. © 2025 SPIE

As Internet of Things (IoT) technologies are inves-tigated to support key 5G services, significant research efforts are being made to enable machine-type communication (MTC). Cell-free IoT (CF-IoT) systems, characterized by favorable prop-agation and macro diversity, are being studied in conjunction with grant-free random access (GFRA) as a potential enabler to achieve massive connectivity for MTC. However, existing GFRA schemes in CF-IoT transmit preambles at a fixed power level resulting in severe preamble collisions at nearby access points (APs). In this paper, we analyzes the analysis of preamble collisions in massive connectivity scenario and proposes a sim-ple power control scheme to address preamble collision. The proposed scheme mitigates preamble collisions by transmitting preambles only to the nearest AP in high-density access scenes. Simulation results show that the proposed method improves the random access success rate compare to existing GFRA method by 10%. © 2024 IEEE.

The emergence of bias in deep neural models represents a significant reliability concern, which may lead to overoptimistic results on seen data while compromising the model's ability to generalize effectively on unseen datasets. Recent studies conducted on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), which is a publicly available repository of histopathology images, reveal that the TCGA cancerous features extracted by deep neural networks surprisingly are able to discriminate slides based on their origin sites. This finding undoubtedly indicates the existence of site-specific patterns embedded in the extracted features learned by deep networks rather than focusing on histomorphologic patterns. Consequently, this biased behavior raises concerns about the reliability of these networks. This observation motivates us to conduct a series of experiments in which we present two distinct evolutionary feature selection strategies, each differentiated by its objective function evaluation. The primary goal is to select the features with a minimized foot-print of data source signatures, thereby ensuring a more accurate and site-independent cancer classification. We have conducted nine comprehensive independent experiments across nine cancer types, employing each evolutionary strategy. The comparison between results obtained through evolutionary strategies and the original feature sets highlights the substantial impact of feature selection methods on bias reduction while maintaining accuracy in cancer-type discrimination. Furthermore, the comparison of the two strategies with each other demonstrates the intricate nature of bias and its integration with cancerous features during the training process. © 2024 IEEE.

Cranioplasty is a surgical method that restores the aesthetic and protecting function of a damaged skull by implanting material into the damaged *** and accurate design of patient specific cranial implants is very much required in the process of *** time consumption for designing and manufacturing of patient specific cranial implant has become an obstruction for cranioplasty procedures. Hence, a fully automatic and fast design of cranial implant becomes very important. The cranial implant design processmainly comprises of two steps. The former step concentrates on the automatic skull shape completion of defective skulls to fill the gaps and the cracks created in the skull. While the second step computes the difference between defective input and the completed skull for generating the implant. Currently computer aided design is used for the skull shape completion task which is a time consuming process. The application of deep learning techniques may result to faster and accurate skull shape completionwhich can be used for the design of patient specific cranial implants. This work proposes a novel approach combining 3D U-Net with Transformers for the automatic skull shape completion *** are using a vision transformer in the encoder section of the 3D U-Net architecture to consider the volumetric skull reconstruction as sequence- to-sequence prediction problem and to efficaciously grasp the global contextual information. The work also compares its performance with the famous variants of 3D U-Net deep network model namely, 3D U-Net and 3D U-Net with attention. From the values resulted for the dice coefficient metric it is clear that the proposed 3D U-Net with transformer approach performs better than the other two models on test images. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. Twitter is the one of the biggest social media sites, where users may share their thoughts, ideas, and opinions as well as discuss current events and live tweets. In the subject of opinion mining, creating reliable and effective algorithms for sarcasm detection on Twitter is an intriguing task. Sarcasm is the use of positive language to convey depressing emotions while speaking in opposition to one's own intentions. Sarcasm is frequently employed on social networking and micro blogging platforms, where users can offend others and find it difficult to express their true feelings. The deep learning technique utilised in the current algorithms to identify these sarcastic tweets has the limitation of not being able to predict continuous variables. A novel deep learning algorithm is proposed to identify both positive and negative terms as well as sarcasm in comments. Deep neural networks are used to classify the comments into positive and negative word categories. Customers' opinions are mined using sentiment analysis to find and extract information from the text. Sarcastically stated statements from social networking sites can be quickly categorised and recognised by using VADER (Valence Aware Dictionary and Sentiment Reasoner). © 2025 The Authors.

Food is crucial in our life. Despite food manufacturers' efforts to meet consumers' needs with manufactured food, it cannot attain the identical level of quality and flavor as natural food. Some fruits and vegetables are classified as food that cannot be manufactured. Also, they play an essential role worldwide. This paper focuses on how farmers can protect their farms from an object that might threaten the crops and cause damage to them. It proposes a framework that farmers may utilize to safeguard the crops against any species of birds. Considering the adverse impact of bird attacks on crop production, this system effectively addresses this problem and consistently enhances the quality and quantity of them. It utilizes computer vision technology to establish a secure environment for the crop. This system is called Quality of Crop Device (qCrop), and it works with a You Only Look Once (Yolov8m) model to detect birds with high accuracy to protect farms. © 2024 IEEE.

The widespread deployment of deep nets in practical applications has lead to a growing desire to understand how and why such black-box methods perform prediction. Much work has focused on understanding what part of the input pattern (an image, say) is responsible for a particular class being predicted, and how the input may be manipulated to predict a different class. We focus instead on understanding what internal features computed by the neural net are responsible for a particular class. We achieve this by mimicking part of the net with a decision tree having sparse weight vectors at the nodes. We are able to learn trees that are both highly accurate and interpretable, so they can provide insights into the deep net black box. Further, we show we can easily manipulate the neural net features in order to make the net predict, or not predict, a given class, thus showing that it is possible to carry out adversarial attacks at the level of the features. We demonstrate this robustly in MNIST and ImageNet with LeNet5 and VGG networks. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.
