The goal of this research is to create an optimized hybrid coupler structure for a PIN diode reflection type phase shifter (RTPS) operating at microwave frequencies. To date, no phase shifter has been reported with the proposed technique, compactness, minimum phase error and balanced amplitude. Another limitation of designing such structures at such high frequency range, is that the 50Ω impedance lines' width approaches its length for given substrate thickness, that is undesirable. This study introduces a new method of developing a module at 100 Ω and translating it back to 50 Ω at the input and output terminals. Moreover, the proposed design is highly resilient to manufacturing constraints owing to the addition of radial stubs instead of lumped components, as reflective loads. Its performance with respect to its bandwidth coverage is better with 15% bandwidth enhancement, insertion loss around 3dB, and reflection co-efficient at all ports is better than -15dB over the whole operating bandwidth. The simulated and measured results validate the proposed design effectively. © 2024 IEEE.

As the modern life is highly dependent on the modern transport system, road safety became a high priority. Most of the systems are aiming for very less reporting time to reduce the severity of the accidents. This paper presents an in-dept. analysis of crash detection on roads using deep learning(DL). We have use one of the mechanisms of deepening i.e. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to detect the same. These DL models are used to classify the traffic accidents and it automatically recognize accidents with minimum effort. We have integrated automatic SMS alert with the system, which send SMS automatically after detecting the crash. This feature enhances the acceleration of emergency response, which makes the system more robust. We have achieved an accuracy of 96.3% which relatively good compared with the existing baseline methods. © 2024 IEEE.

The current work provides the roadmap towards the advent of Very High Throughput Satellite Communications. The key enabler will be the envisioned and presented in detail placement of the Direct Radiating Arrays vision into the reach of the technology. Such an endeavor entails the proper choice of the multi-element electrically large array's geometry as well as the choice on the element radiator. Those choices should support and implement the overlapping concept in hardware. At the same time, they should leave room for advanced array synthesis techniques to unfold their full potential. Those issues are treated in detail, and proper emphasis is given both on the state of the art as well as to the innovations needed to increase the current relative technological readiness level. © 2024 IEEE.

Modular multilevel converters have developed into a door opener for a variety of energy applications. Enabling parallel connectivity between modules can offer several advantages to systems, including sensorless balancing, module-to-module energy exchange, reduced impedance, low-frequency operation down to dc output, and a larger effective capacitance. Existing module circuits, however, require many individual switches or offer only very limited parallel functionalities. We propose a new module topology, which we name the direction-selective parallel structure, which requires only a minimum of transistors. A combination of only four active switches and four diodes enables bidirectional equilibration, bipolar module output, and inter-module switched-capacitor features. The topology is highly attractive for existing converters working with cascaded H-bridge elements as the addition of only four diodes enables the key features of more complicated module topologies, particularly their superior balancing, such as sensorless estimator-free balancing, and module-to-module energy exchange. The diodes furthermore well match the insulated gate bipolar transistors implemented in most larger systems. We elaborate on the working principle of the direction-selective parallel module and demonstrate its operation. © 2024 IEEE.

Several aspects of library usage in C++ are explored. A framework is proposed for analyzing the C++ code base of Linux distributions that employ the DNF package manager, such as Fedora Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. This framework is used in conjunction with a C++ source-code analysis tool (developed by the authors) to study library usage with a fine level of granularity, considering instances of uses of types, type aliases, member/nonmember functions, variables, and enumerators. The effectiveness of our proposed framework and C++ analysis tool is demonstrated by applying them to the C++ code base of Fedora Linux 37. Using this approach, we were able to analyze library usage in the C++ source code of over 2300 software packages. Numerous observations are made about various aspects of library usage that can facilitate improved teaching of C++, allow more effective design/implementation of C++ libraries, and help to direct the future evolution of the C++ standard. © 2024 IEEE.

Climate refers to the long-term weather patterns of a region. Variations in the weather have a lot of implications on our daily lives. Explore the application of deep learning techniques in climate prediction and related fields. It focuses on Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models for forecasting air quality, greenhouse temperature control, and urban flood water accumulation using Gradient Boosted Decision Trees (GBDT). The analysis concludes that deep learning, particularly LSTM, offers promising accuracy for various climate-related predictions. Challenges such as data scarcity, non-stationarity, and high dimensionality are addressed, highlighting the need for advanced models to capture complex climate system dynamics and human influences. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a comprehensive comparative analysis of image partitioning and compression mechanisms, two fundamental techniques in image processing and data compression. Image partitioning involves dividing an image into smaller components, while compression aims to reduce the size of digital images while preserving visual quality. The analysis encompasses various aspects of both techniques, including methodologies, algorithms, and performance metrics. For image partitioning, segmentation methods such as block-based, region-based, and hierarchical partitioning are examined, along with their respective advantages and limitations. Additionally, the paper explores compression mechanisms such as transform coding, quantization, entropy coding, and predictive coding, highlighting their roles in achieving efficient compression. Furthermore, the comparative analysis evaluates the tradeoffs between different partitioning and compression techniques in terms of compression ratio, image quality, computational complexity, and applicability across different types of images and applications. Various compression standards such as JPEG and PNG are also reviewed to provide insights into real-world implementations. Microservice Architecture is quickly becoming popular for building extensive applications designed for deployment in dispersed and resource-constrained cloud-to-edge computing settings. Being a cloud-native technology, the real strength of microservices lies in their loosely connected, autonomously deployable, and scalable features, facilitating distributed deployment and flexible integration across powerful cloud data centers to heterogeneous and often constrained edge nodes. Hence, there is a need to devise innovative placement algorithms that leverage these microservice features to enhance application performance. To address these issues, we propose extending Kubernetes with a load-aware orchestration strategy, enhancing its capability to deploy microservice applications within shared clusters characterized by dynamic resource usage patterns. Our approach dynamically orchestrates applications based on runtime resource usage, continuously adjusting their placement. The results, obtained by evaluating a prototype of our system in a testbed environment, show significant advantages over the vanilla Kubernetes scheduler. © 2024 by SCITEPRESS – science and Technology Publications, Lda.

Early and automated fault detection is necessary for proper condition monitoring and operation management of electric motor and drive systems. This paper investigates fault detection of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) using Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA), d-q Transform and Isolation Forest (iForest). This approach utilizes statistical indicators for feature extraction from dq-transformed current measurements and Isolation Forest, for outlier and fault detection. The proposed methodology is tested in a PMSM test bench under multiple operating conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

This study explores methods for improving energy efficiency in wastewater treatment facilities to address the pressure of rising electricity tariffs. As the energy consumption by water treatment facilities accounting for about 50% of the total electricity consumption in wastewater treatment facilities, particular attention is paid to the energy utilization of blowers within water treatment facilities [1], [2]. The aim is to achieve appropriate control of aeration equipment based on the facility’s conditions and environment, without relying on plant models but using data-driven control. This approach addresses the problem of excessive electricity consumption in current scenarios that rely on manual control or simple control loops. By employing VRFT for the PID controller parameter tuning, a successful improvement in the target response performance was achieved. The proposed method achieved an error in the DO response comparable to that of conventional methods and reduced the operating costs of aeration at wastewater treatment plants by about 12%. © 2024 IEEE.
