A concept of a two levels distributed processing model for local area networks is proposed. The level 1 concerns analysis of current workload of each workstation. Dynamic task distribution in order to achieve load balancing of a whole network is determined on the level 2. To estimate the required parameters two experiments are proposed. They determine relative speeds of workstations and normalized tasks processing time. The proposed approach is the base of the model implementation in a Unix local area network.

Electromaj netically shielded rooms always have joints between the shielding materials. The simplest configuration is a lap joint in which overlapping sheets are fastened at regular intervals by screws or by other types of fasteners. The shielding effectiveness of such joints with slit-shaped apertures has riol been evaluat ed 'quant i tat i vely. Measurements of electi omagnetic wave leakage from slit shaped aoertures were made with the intent of determining the relationship between the joint configurations and shielding effectiveness. The results indicated that the shielding effectiveness is dependent on the wavelength and the dimensions of the constituent parts. Numerical analysis using the FDTD method whs carried out in order to explain the phenomena observed in the experiments. The data obtained through this study will be utilized in the future for quantitative evaluation of I he shielding effec: I i veness of slil shaped apertures.

In this paper we present a study about time-frequency distribution of acoustic-phonetic information for the Spanish language. This is based on a large Spanish database automatically labeled, and we conclude that results are similar to those obtained for hand-labeled english databases. We use bidimensional LDA [1] to extract discriminant features in time-frequency domain (TF) that are more robust in noise than the standard ones based on MFCC and time derivatives. We show that TF domain and its corresponding transformed domain (CTM) are equivalent from the point of view of LDA analysis and use this fact to reduce the dimensionality of the problem. Finally, cascade unidimensional LDA (CLDA) is applied first in frequency and then in time. This gives better estimates of projection vectors and better recognition performance. The proposed techniques are evaluated in a connected digit recognition task. Utterances have been artificially corrupted with additive real noises.
