This paper proposes an approach to algorithmically synthesize control strategies for discrete-time nonlinear uncertain systems based on reachable set computations using the ellipsoidal calculus. For given ellipsoidal initial sets and bounded ellipsoidal disturbances, the proposed algorithm iterates over conservatively approximating and LMI-constrained optimization problems to compute stabilizing controllers. The method uses first-order Taylor approximation of the nonlinear dynamics and a conservative approximation of the Lagrange remainder. An example for illustration is included.

We chose data whose stock price showed steadiness and used as the training data and test data. Test was performed while varying the number of hidden layer and hidden nodes each time. As the result shows, the satisfied result was obtained and the use of the backpropagation neural network model improved the performance of the stock price prediction for system trading in KOSPI.

This paper presents the results of static lateral loading test performed on a traditional timber farmhouse in Japan. The aim of this research is to understand the horizontal load carrying capacity and the failure mode of this type of house using a full-scale experiment. In the experiment, the maximum horizontal load was 45 kN. The results of this test are discussed in comparison with results of other previous research. Static analysis using a theoretical model considering the structural performance of joints and the deterioration of timber is also performed.

This paper describes an automated algorithm for shadow region detection in Intra Vascular Ultrasound images, using an adaptive threshold method for threshold selection and contour approach for border detection. As shadow appears behind the calcification plaque, it makes it difficult or impossible for the dark region to process automatically around these regions. The acoustic shadow usually follows the hard plaque in IVUS images and it can distinguish calcification regions from other bright regions. Therefore we propose to use Otsu. Threshold for calcification plaque segmentation and the Active contours without edge method for shadow region separation of the image. Results show that the proposed meth efficiently detected shadow regions even in complicated images. This proposed algorithm presented specificity of 86% and sensitivity of 93%.

In Japan, the planning and design of drainage and vent systems for 2-3-storey low-rise houses is not clearly defined, even by SHASE-S206 "Standard for Plumbing and Sanitary systems" by the Society of Heating, Air-conditioning and Sanitary eng.neers of Japan. Hence, house development companies and building and construction companies use their own devices to design and execute plumbing work. Considering this current situation, this study aims to develop a model of a fitting having a swivel air admittance function, which is specifically for drainage systems for detached houses;verify the effectiveness of the fitting by means of carrying out evaluations on its influence on drainage performance;and provide experimental data which can contribute to the planning and design of drainage systems for detached houses.
