Air pollution is a global issue of concern. Accurate prediction of the air quality index (AQI) plays a crucial role in understanding pollution patterns and implementing effective mitigation strategies. This research paper presents a comprehensive study on the application of ensemble learning techniques for AQI prediction, aiming to enhance prediction accuracy and provide insights into the driving factors behind pollution levels. The primary objective is to conduct a comparative analysis of homogenous ensemble method, namely, bagging in conjunction with individual base models, such as multiple linear regression, support vector regression, decision trees, and artificial neural networks. In total we have created 4 non-ensembled models and 4 ensembled models. Additionally, the research investigates the importance of different features in AQI prediction models, aiming to identify the key factors influencing air pollution. Hyperparameter tuning is done to optimize the models. © Grenze Scientific Society, 2024.

During the last few decades there is a tremendous growth in the information and communication technology wherein many organizations are making use of the hardware and software for various applications. Marking the attendance of a student in the school or college as well as the presence of the employee in the workplace is to be either captured or manually marked in the registers. Performing various analyses by taking the manual input is cumbersome because the number of students in the class or number of employees in the organizations are increasing. To overcome the difficulties of managing the things manually in this paper we are proposing an automated tool to capture the presence of the student in the specific location. This paper proposes a novel approach to mark the presence of a student in the college premises. The tool developed here is an Android Application (App) wherein the students can send the details to the App. Two modules are proposed here, one for the student and another for the Administrator. Through the student module, each student can login to the App and capture the self-image and send it to the Administrator Module. The captured image comprises the GPS details like Longitude, Latitude, Time, and date information. The information sent through the App determines the location of the student whether the student is in the college premise such as Class room, Laboratory and Library. The application which is managed by the teacher or the administrator or proctor will get the details about the student's image, GPS locations such as latitude, longitude, date and time. The mobile app verifies the GPS location and image of the student and compares it with the database. If the captured information matches with the appropriate GPS location then the students attendance is marked as present in that particular duration and appropriate files are updated. © Grenze Scientific Society, 2024.

Cancer disparities are adverse differences in cancer measures that exist among certain population groups. Given that the role they play not only in the disease prognosis but also in therapy response, there is an urgent need to understand what causes them. Most studies investigate these disparities by analyzing transcriptomic data and in particular miRNAs for their regulatory role, but only focusing on expression levels. To face this challenge we propose MIRROR, a new method which analyzes a differential co-expression network of miRNAs between patients' cohorts, to study the role they play at the target genes' level. Doing so, we can study the altered molecular mechanism that are linked to cancer disparities. The application of MIRROR to two different cases of cancer disparities has demonstrated its efficacy in identifying molecular players involved in the considered disparity, presenting itself as a viable option to approach this challenge. © 2024 IEEE.

As of 2023, more than 2.2 billion people worldwide are visually impaired. Among them, more than 36 million people are totally blind, meaning they cannot perceive light, and about 217 million have moderate to severe visual impairment. This group faces a variety of difficulties on a daily basis. With this paper we strive to introduce a software solution that would help the visually *** technologies including object detection, optical character recognition (OCR), cash identification, voice commands, and navigation aid are all integrated into our suggested solution. This article covers the software's architecture, development methodology, user-centric features, results from impact assessments and usability evaluations, and emphasis on promoting autonomy, accessibility, and empowerment. By means of a modest analysis, the research illuminates the possibility that the program could have a beneficial effect on the lives of visually impaired users, so promoting inclusivity and empowerment within the digital sphere. © 2024 IEEE.

The Domain Algorithm visualizations are multimedia-based representations of algorithms that help students learn how they operate and behave. Algorithm visualizations provide numerous benefits to instructors and students, including an improved understanding of difficult algorithms in programming. By stripping down the complexities of algorithms and presenting them in simplified visual ways, students can obtain a more thorough knowledge of how they perform. Instructional approaches, such as guided instruction or discovery learning, are critical to the pedagogical effectiveness of algorithm representations. Guided instructions can considerably boost learners' overall performance in problem-solving activities that incorporate visualizations. At the same time, discovery education promotes exploration and experimentation, yet it may result in longer learning times and increased mental demands. A combination of these approaches is required for optimal effectiveness of instruction. In this paper, we investigate how the pedagogical effectiveness of algorithm visualizations should be determined by a variety of elements, including student characteristics, visual and cognitive processing ability, algorithm representation, and instructional context based on a literature review and interviews with field experts, and a bunch of recommendations is provided that has witnessed by authors during their long teaching periods. © 2024 IEEE.

Optimal Scheduling in Multiserver Queues

Scheduling theory is a key tool for reducing latency (i.e. response time) in queueing systems. Scheduling, i.e. choosing the order in which to serve jobs, can reduce response time by an order of magnitude with no additional resources. Scheduling theory is well-developed in single-server systems, where one job is processed at a time. However, little is known about scheduling in multiserver systems, where many jobs are processed at once. Results are especially limited in stochastic multiserver scheduling theory. Today’s data-centers have thousands of servers, and scheduling theory is unable to analyze such systems. My thesis proves the first optimality results and first closed-form bounds on mean response time for scheduling policies in stochastic multiserver models which reflect the behavior of modern computing systems. My thesis proves novel optimality results in each of three areas: I start by studying one-server-per-job multiserver models, and prove the first results on optimal scheduling in that setting. Next, I study the multiserver-job (MSJ) model, where different jobs require different amounts of resources to be served. I prove the first characterization of mean response time for any scheduling policy in the MSJ model, as well as the first optimality results. Finally, I study the effects of scheduling on the tail of response time, rather than mean response time. I invent a novel scheduling policy, Nudge, which I prove to be the first policy to outperform FCFS’s asymptotic tail of response time. This extended abstract briefly outlines the main contributions of my thesis, describing my novel performance bounds and optimality results in each of these three areas. © 2024 Association for Computing Machinery. Data collection and analysis are critical aspects of various business processes. However, these tasks can be time-consuming, prone to errors, and delays employee productivity when done manually, especially when we have to deal with huge data. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technologies offer a promising solution in form of a BOT, by automating tedious tasks related with data handling. A survey by The Economist corporation believe that automation kick launches digital transformation, robotic process automation (RPA) has evolved from an emerging technology to a must-have digital transformation tool for enterprises to compete globally. An increasing number of companies are now using RPA to automate normal business processes in a non-intrusive and cost-effective way. On the other hand, decision-making, pattern recognition, and many other business-related tasks benefit greatly from the use of big data and analytics. This paper explores the application of RPA in data collection and analysis, examining its functionalities, benefits, and limitations. In practical, Bot produces error-free work and takes 94.44% less time for data collection compared to a manual process, which encourages all firms to adopt to RPA technologies. © 2024 IEEE.

Project managers often use Effort Estimating strategies to manage the human resources of current or upcoming software projects. Prior to project implementation, cost, time, and personnel estimation are basically necessary. For every project of software, getting an accuracy in Effort Estimation has always been difficult. In case of this study, estimating the labor involved in developing software determined using a Back Propagation Model. This model's goal is to investigate the capabilities and potential uses of utilizing Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) as a tool for forecasting the effort required for software development. In order to estimate the software work, we are attempting to implement a machine learning technique in this research. Out of all machine learning methods, we are applying an algorithm based on Artificial Neural Networks that is Back propagation. The Desharnais dataset, a well-known publicly available dataset for estimation of software effort, is used to test the approach. The performance and accuracy of the tested model have been evaluated using three metrics: MMRE, MRE, and Pred (0.25). In the sections below that follows, I explain the algorithm and its results. © 2023 IEEE.

The recent availability of consumer head-mounted displays (HMDs) for virtual reality (VR) provides an immersive and affordable platform to study sound perception and action outside laboratory settings. While traditional perception-action studies rely on complex systems like motion capture, HMDs integrate dynamic sound delivery and real-time movement tracking. In this study, we adapted the experimental protocol from Geronazzo et al. (2023) to test the feasibility of measuring user behaviour with a consumer-grade HMD. Instead of muscular activity measured from surface electromyography, we analysed reaction times using kinematic data from the HMD's onboard sensors and controllers. Data from ten participants showed that spatial properties of looming sounds influence auditory perception-action loops, aligning with findings from the original study. Our results demonstrate that reaction time is a scalable and meaningful measure for studying space perception through sound, providing a possible alternative to muscular activity measurements and showcasing the potential of consumer-grade VR for accessible and robust experimental research despite current limitations. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper presents a signal processing framework for automatic anxiety level classification in a virtual reality exposure therapy system. Two types of biophysical data (heart rate and electrodermal activity) were recorded, pre-processed and passed through a feature extraction procedure that provided input for the real-time anxiety level classification algorithm. We showcase the mathematical and engineering techniques behind the procedures and conclude with the challenges encountered in our research and future development ideas. The proposed method provides a good estimate of the level of anxiety while having at the same time a reduced level of complexity, allowing implementation on equipment with limited computing resources. © 2024, Politechnica University of Bucharest.
