Analysis of complex systems such as hierarchically structured network systems that are employed in modelling and analysis various aspects and issues of control and management in telecommunications is investigated. Theory of graphs and binary matrices appear to be most suitable tools for modelling the overall structure of complex systems, in general, and of systemic hierarchies, in particular. A systematic methodology has been developed for computer simulation analysis and detecting general hierarchies in communications networking as well as for synthesis of system hierarchies. This methodology is an improved extension of Warfield's technique.

Identification of certain system needs search for class of functions or model forapproximation of the system input-output behavior in the "best" possible way. In most situations, as in dynamic systems identification, pattern recognition etc., the value of the output of the mode ling system is function of the previous values of outputs and inputs. In the current circumstances almost all efforts for using neural networks for identification and control are based on feed-forward networks. If the system order or the upper limit of the order is known, all the necessary previous values of the inputs and outputs of the mode led system can be put as input in the network. The network can learn non-memory transformations that include thesystem output dependence on specified previous inputs and outputs.

In this paper, a sufficient condition of robust D-stability for discrete-delay perturbed singular systems is presented, and the robust stability sufficient condition is independent of the delay. Two classes of perturbations for systems are discussed: (1) highly structured parametric perturbations; (2) unstructured parametric perturbations. An useful technique for robust pole-assignment in a specified circular region is also proposed, the criterion is tested easily,and convenient for the application in the engineering. Two examples have been given to validate the proposed method.

The problem of adaptive state feedback exponentially practically stabilizing a class of composite system with uncertainty and disturbance is considered. The uncertainties of the system can be non linear or time-varying. The bounds of the uncertainties exist, but are unknown. A designing scheme of exponentially stable adaptive controller of the system, which can guarantee the state of the system to reach the prescribed equilibrium point's nearby region in limited time, is given. Finally, the simulations performed show the validity of the new result derived.

A class of generalized interconnected systems, possessing similar linear structure and non linear unmatched interconnections, is studied in this paper. Hence a new topic of similarity systems research is presented. Dynamic compensators are designed so that the closed-loop systems of the original systems and the compensators are asymptotically stable and have no impulse effect. Compensators also possess similar structures and are realized easily, so that a destroyed compensator is easily reproduced.

The problem of networking supervision and traffic rate control in multi-service network systems is studied by using concepts of Nash equilibrium and Stackelberg strategy under assumption of two-level system architecture. Models of users, network provider and overall system in game-theoretic setting are presented. Linear Stackelberg incentive strategies are derived for both elastic and non-elastic traffic, and verified using Kelly's example. Outlines of the two-level integrated control and supervision architecture, and of the proposed fuzzy-Perti-net supervisor are given.

Application of projection pursuit learning in ship motion extreme short time prediction was presented. Relations among pitch time, roll, and vertical acceleration of ship was studied for top waves, longitudinal waves and roll waves. It was found that parametric projection pursuit achieved better accuracy with fewer parameters than a one hidden-layer sigmoidal neural networks.

This paper presents a novel watermarking technique for digital audio signals. A visually recognizable binary image served as a watermark is embedded into an audio signal in discrete cosine transform domain. In order to enhance robustness and make good use of masking characteristics of the audio signal, the techniques of pseudo-random permutation and energy-based permutation are used during watermarking. The experimental results show that the proposed watermarking technique is robust to several signal manipulations, such as filtering, compression, and so on.
