This paper focuses on the nano-scale analysis of the mechanical properties of polymer and carbon nanotubes (CNT) embedded MEMS devices using the probe tip of the atomic force microscope (AFM).The mechanical properties of the surfaces of layered materials were investigated by using nanoindentation produced with the tips of an AFM. Experiment results indicated the bending characteristics of the device and also the Young's modulus of the CNT embedded micro structure. Our objective was to determine the nano-scale mechanical properties and piezoresistivity of bulk carbon nanotubes using the local probe manipulation.

The computing continuum combines computational resources and services from edge to cloud, promising enhanced efficiency and resilience with respect to the traditional siloed-based approach. This study presents the REAR (Resource Advertisement and Reservation) protocol, which tackles the complexities of managing resources within this continuum. REAR establishes standardized interfaces to enable interoperability, enhances resource allocation efficiency, and maintains security measures for workload execution. The paper details the protocol’s design, key components, operational workflows, and potential uses, contributing to the optimization of resource use across the computing continuum.

The current Grover quantum searching algorithm cannot identify the difference in importance of the search targets when it is applied to an unsorted quantum database, and the probability for each search target is equal. To solve this problem, a Grover searching algorithm based on weighted targets is proposed. First, each target is endowed a weight coefficient according to its importance. Applying these different weight coefficients, the targets are represented as quantum superposition states. Second, the novel Grover searching algorithm based on the quantum superposition of the weighted targets is constructed. Using this algorithm, the probability of getting each target can be approximated to the corresponding weight coefficient, which shows the flexibility of this ***, the validity of the algorithm is proved by a simple searching example.

Due to their reduced maintenance costs, increased power efficiency and reduced power consumption, the Magnetic Levitation (Maglev) system make a significant contribution to the industrial application. Maglev's production of electricity (e.g. wind turbines), maglev trains and medical devices (e.g. artificial heart pump magnetically suspended) are typical applications. This paper suggests designing a nonlinear control for the Maglev system model which represented by a third-order model consists of the mechanical (ball position and velocity) and electrical (the current) subsystems. The controller is designed utilizing the Integral Sliding Mode control (ISMC) and based on the Backstepping approach. The tracking accuracy of the ball position to the desired reference is determined by computing the ultimate boundedness as a function to the controller parameters and that using the Lyapunov function. The numerical simulation results showed the robustness and the efficiency of the proposed controller where the tracking error limited by the computed bound.
