The article describes an algorithm for developing predictive models for a digital twin of a feedstock enrichment plant. The main results are summarized in this paper. The results obtained include: a generalized algorithm for the development of forecasting models, which can be used to create predictive models for digital twins using machine learning methods; the result of applying mathematical methods of preliminary selection of features for predictive models; the main results of the conducted experiments on the creation of predictive models based on linear regression without regularization, Lasso regression and random forest for regression; as well as predictive models obtained on a reduced feature space. The results of the experiments showed that the reducing number of features method taking into account the degree of their contribution to obtaining the predicted indicator, leads to a slight decrease in the quality of the model in accordance with the selected quality metrics; after screening out more than 70% of the initial features, it is possible to obtain interpreted models with a different composition of parameters and high accuracy.

This paper presents an unconventional structure of an motor with two stators and a unique rotor with radial air-gap. The fundamental idea behind the solution presented in this paper was to use the broadest possible parts (especially plates) from standard motors, with which, incidentally, can be made technico-economics comparisons. Originally we studied an asynchronous variant and later our attention was directed to a synchronous machines with permanent magnets placed on the both sides of the rotor.

The increase of the need for image storage and transmission in computer systems has increased the importance of signal and image compression algorithms. The approach involving vector quantization (VQ) relies on designing of a finite set of codes which will substitute the original signal during transmission with a minimal of distortion, taking advantage of the spatial redundancy of image to compress them. Algorithms such as LGB and SOM work in an unsupervised way toward finding a good codebook for a given training data. However, the number of code vectors (N) needed for VQ increases with the vector dimension, and full-search algorithms such as LGB and SOM can lead to large training and coding times. An alternative for reducing the computational complexity is the use of a tree-structured vector quantization algorithm. This paper presents an application of a hierarchical SOM for image compression in which reduces the search complexity from O(N) to O(log N), enabling a faster training and image coding. Results are given for conventional SOM, LBG and HSOM showing the advantage of the proposed method.

In modern complex manufacturing always rely on skilled workers. But training new specialists in complex tasks is an actual problem. In virtual simulation training can be done multiple times and without life risk. Nevertheless, training on the computer is not the same as in the physical world. Blend both ways of training can Mixed Reality. In this paper one of the variants of developing application-instruction for industrial unit maintenance in the form of Mixed Reality application is shown in detail. Used instruments and platforms, where key components were created, are presented. Software structure of the application is described as well as implementation of The State Machine design pattern. This pattern was adapted for application needs, code snippets are shown. The application software was written in the C sharp programming language. The instruction is an immersive training for future specialists. Operator is following the steps of the instructions using the user interface - main virtual panel. Virtual panel design prototype, its features and realization in application are demonstrated. To create an interface related design task was solved including functional components. The connection between essential components is described. Operator's work in application is also demonstrated.

Motion sickness is a common affliction that affects nearly half of the global population and poses challenges to comfortable travel experiences, necessitating diverse intervention strategies. Pharmacological interventions have shown promise but present limitations due to side effects. To date, there is no non- pharmacological alleviation method for motion sickness that has been proven effective in a large population. In this study, we developed a novel mindfulness brain-computer interface (mindfulness BCI) for alleviation of motion sickness. Thirty-one subjects who were susceptible to motion sickness participated in our experiments in a real-world car motion environment. The experimental results demonstrated that the proposed mindfulness BCI can effectively alleviate motion sickness symptoms, where more than 90% of subjects reported the effectiveness of the mindfulness BCI system and a significant reduction of Motion Sickness Susceptibility Questionnaire (MISC) scores was obtained when comparing the BCI-based meditation state with the resting state for the subjects (t30=4.968, P © 2024 IEEE.

We show a method to detect accurate 3D position of people from multiple views, regardless of the geometry of the ground. In our new method we search for intersections of 3D primitives (cones) to find positions of feet. The cones are computed by back-projecting ellipses covering feet in input images. Instead of computing complex intersection body, we use approximation to speed up intersection computing. We found that feet positions are determined accurately, and the height map of the ground can be reconstructed with small error. We compared our method to other multiview-detectors - using somewhat different test methodology -, and achieved comparable results, with the benefit of handling arbitrary ground. We also present accurately reconstructed height map of non-planar ground. Our algorithm is fast and most of steps are parallelizable, making it possibly available for smart camera systems.

This paper presents a new and novel controller for dynamic image-based trajectory tracking of a robot manipulator in uncalibrated environments. The controller is designed to cope with the case when the homogenous transformation matrix between the root and the vision system is unknown. A new adaptive algorithm, different from the Slotine and Li's method, has been developed to estimate a set of parameters corresponding to the unknown transformation matrix. With a full consideration of dynamic responses of the robot manipulator, we employed the Lyapunov method to prove the convergence of the image errors of the trajectory to zero and the convergence of the estimated parameters to the real values up to a scale. Simulations and experiments have been conducted to demonstrate good convergence of the trajectory errors of the robot and the estimated parameters under the control of the proposed method. © 2005 IEEE.

Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) have become indispensable tools for marine scientists to study the world's oceans. Real time examination of mission data can substantially enhance the overall effectiveness of AUVs in oceanography. However, current AUV technology only allows a detailed analysis of data after completion of a mission. The ability to perform onboard analysis of real time data is computationally intensive, requiring an energy efficient programming infrastructure that can be adapted to battery operated, energy constrained vehicles. Intel's 48-core SCC system exposes a collection of performance and energy/power knobs that can be refined for dynamically changing computation vs. energy tradeoffs. In this paper, we illustrate the potential benefits of these knobs for environment modeling and path planning. These applications are important for any autonomous cyber-physical system. Our experimental case study targets AUVs, particularly the Slocum glider. The results show that selecting different core, network, and memory controller speeds have a significant impact on the overall performance and energy requirements of our applications. Furthermore, the best selection is non-trivial and will depend on the available energy and computational needs of other mission critical tasks executing concurrently with modeling/path planning applications. © Proceedings of the 6th Many-Core Applications Research Community Symposium, MARC 2012. In this paper, we propose a new reflectance separation model to separate the diffuse and specular reflection components. The model is based on a two-dimensional space called Ch-CV space, which is spanned by maximum chromaticity (Ch) and the coefficient of variation (CV) of RGB color. The space exhibits a more direct correspondence to diffuse and specular reflection components than the RGB color space, as well as the HSI color space. Under the whitened illumination, the surface points with the same diffuse chromaticity have the same slope in Ch-CV space. Based on these properties, we propose a slope-based region growing method to implement an image segmentation in the specular regions, and to separate the reflection components for each segmented region. The comparison experiments with several state-of-the-art algorithms show its superior capability to separate the specular and diffuse reflection components. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

This paper is concerned with the generation of a balancing trajectory for improving the walking performance. Balancing motion has been determined by solving the second-order differential equation. However, this method caused some difficulties in linearizing and approximating the equation and had some restrictions on using various balancing trajectories. The proposed method in this paper is based on the GA (genetic algorithm) for minimizing the motions of balancing joints, whose trajectories are generated by the fifth-order polynomial interpolation after planning leg trajectories. Real walking experiments are made on the biped robot IWR-III, which was developed by Intelligent Robot Control Lab., Inha University. The system has eight degrees of freedom: three pitch joints in each leg and two joints (one roll and one prismatic joint) in the balancing mechanism. Experimental result shows the validity and the applicability of the newly proposed algorithm. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2004.
