Extended playing techniques are a crucial characteristic of contemporary double bass practice. Players find their voice by developing a personal vocabulary of techniques through practice and experimentation. These player-idiosyncratic techniques are used in composition, performance, and improvisation. Today’s AI methods offer the opportunity to recognize such techniques and repurpose them in real-time, leading to new forms of interactions between musicians and machines. This paper is the result of a collaboration between a composer/double-bass player and researchers, born from the musician’s desire for an interactive improvisational experience with AI centered around the practice of his extended techniques. With this aim, we developed Esteso: an interactive improvisational system based on extended technique recognition, live electronics, and a timbre-transfer double-bass model. We evaluated our system with the musician with three duet improvisational sessions, each using different mapping strategies between the techniques and the sound of the virtual double bass counterpart. We collected qualitative data from the musician to gather insights about the three configurations and the corresponding improvisational duets, as well as investigate the resulting interactions. We provide a discussion about the outcomes of our analysis and draw more general design considerations. © 2024, International Conference on New Interfaces for Musical Expression. Multicore fibers (MCF) promise high capacity benefits to sustain future broadband traffic growth while deploying additional optical equipment like spatial multiplexers and hierarchical optical cross-connects. Therefore network operators will need to exercise usage of additional link margins (LM) as a precaution against equipment degradation that may prevent lightpaths operating at high capacity. However, LM can be reduced by deploying in-line optical performance monitoring (OPM) equipment while incurring additional costs. This paper accounts for the capacity benefits of operating with lower LM while accounting for the cost-per-bit-sec (cpbps) incurred in each LM operation region. Our results indicate that MCF fibers can provide 4.5 times the capacity compared to the traditional single-mode fiber (SMF) network at LM 0 dB while incurring an additional cost of 375 OPMs with a channel launch power of 0 dBm. However, similar capacity benefits can be achieved while reducing channel launch power to -1.5 dBm at LM 2 dB with a lower cost of 309 OPMs. Hence in this paper, we comprehensively correlate the effect of operating with a lower LM, and channel launch power while elaborating upon its trade-offs with cpbps metrics. © 2024 IEEE.

Social media platforms have become essential tools for communication, collaboration, and exchanging information, ideas, and knowledge among users worldwide. Despite their benefits, the anonymity offered by these platforms has unfortunately led to a rise in hate speech and cyberbullying, causing concern across the globe. This issue has drawn the attention of researchers and scholars now focused on devising methods for automatically detecting cyberaggression and hate speech. The goal is to mitigate these harmful behaviors and create safer online environments [1]. This study specifically aims to identify and analyze the usage of cyberbullying language within the English Tweet corpus, focusing on distinguishing between bullying and non-bullying language. This research contributes to developing more effective cyberbullying detection models by examining the frequency and patterns of cyberbullying words. These findings are vital for enhancing the efficacy of cyberbullying detection on social networks in future research efforts. The conclusions of the experiments indicate that the SVM achieved the highest average accuracy, approximately 84 %. © 2024 IEEE.

Among the most deadly and complex illnesses in the world, pancreatic cancer is typified by its early asymptomatic stage and subsequent discovery of the disease when it has progressed to an advanced stage. Getting the patients in a correct treatment path at the earliest point is important for suitable intervention and patient outcomes in the long run. We utilized advanced algorithms and model prediction techniques includes, feature extraction, hyperparameter tuning and explainability methods which aims to enhance both the comprehension and predictive accuracy of models employed. The goal is to assess patient health status and diagnose pancreatic diseases (cancer vs. non-cancer) by developing a learning algorithm. We obtained a dataset containing demographic information and urine biomarkers to start the investigation. First stage of our analysis employs a single classifier and later we apply bagging and boosting algorithms to achieve ensemble models. Hyperparameter fine-tuning has got a positive outcome, which has Gradient Boosting and Cat Boosting as its top performing models. The ensemble model produced excellent results (92.02 %), demonstrating the usefulness of the suggested approach. LIME and SHAP techniques play the key role in model outcome interpretability providing an insight of algorithmic decision-making process. Such a wide range of combinations of biomarkers have a potential of pancreatic cancer detection in early stages and thus will help shape diagnostics strategies in near future. © 2024 IEEE.

This review explores recent advancements that are made in remote sensing, enabling detailed analysis of our ecosystem through high resolution and multispectral imaging. The recent advancements in remote sensing includes developments useful for generation of synthetic images using GAN such as StyleGAN3 and for estimation of carbon stocks in forest using OBIA. Ecotones like mangroves and saltmarsh are crucial for carbon sequestration but mapping them accurately was challenging due to spectral similarity and seasonal variations. Focusing on coastal protection by this review examines the mapping methodologies such as random forest classification, OBIA and FID for habitat distinction, canopy area assessment and analysis. Through these technologies data accuracy can be enhanced for better monitoring. This review concludes with a discussion of AI-powered image synthesis and classification. © 2025 IEEE.

The advent of electronic voting (e-voting) systems has promised greater accessibility, efficiency, and transparency in the process of electoral. However, by adopting e-voting systems, they bring forth significant challenges, primarily related to security and scalability. Old e-voting systems encounter threats such as vote manipulation and denial-of-service attacks, making it imperative to design robust and secure solutions. This research focuses on addressing these challenges through a collaborative approach utilizing sharding technology with interoperability enabling it to handle a vast number of votes simultaneously without compromising performance or security. Recognizing the importance of seamless data exchange, our e-voting system places a strong emphasis on interoperability. The consensus mechanism providing rapid transaction finality, enhanced security, and resilience against malicious actors. It ensures the integrity in the process of voting and safeguards against alterations. We present a pioneering approach to reduce all kind of challenges in existing model by giving a secure e-voting that harnesses the power of sharding blockchain, interoperability, and a novel consensus mechanism. The analysis of blockchain structure that provide blockchain as a service initiates the article. Then, based on blockchain technology, we suggest a unique electronic voting method. That resolves all the issues we found. This reduces the cost of holding a national poll and enhances security. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent years, people have been confronted with unprecedented emerging infectious diseases. Medical institutions typically manage high-risk infectious diseases, which are transmitted via droplets or airborne routes, by using negative pressure isolation rooms to house patients and provide medical care. These isolation areas and rooms are specially designed to effectively prevent the spread of pathogens, with the goal of protecting healthcare personnel and preventing large-scale hospital-acquired infections. As most medical institutions have already completed the installation of hardware, wired network construction is not ideal for hospital environments, as it would require modifications to existing infrastructure, indirectly affecting the quality of the hospital environment, such as noise from construction and the layout of piping systems. Therefore, this study proposes an "Intelligent IoT Platform for Real-Time Monitoring of Indoor Air Quality in Healthcare Institutions." The system leverages smart sensors integrated with the Internet of Things (IoT), utilizing the small size and ease of deployment of the sensors as part of the overall technical framework. The platform also incorporates health and safety indicators relevant to hospital hygiene, enabling the monitoring of various environmental factors to ensure the safety of healthcare personnel. © 2024 IEEE.

A critical feature of vehicle movement applications is the detection and identification of a vehicle's License Plate (LP). Despite technological and algorithm developments, differences in LP properties by nation, such as number system, colors, character language, fonts, and size, necessitate more study to enhance detection and recognition. Despite substantial study, many systems function in well-defined contexts, necessitating the use of expensive equipment to capture photos from slow-moving vehicles or generate high-quality shots. This study describes a deep learning-based automated approach for LP detection and recognition, which is further separated into detection and character recognition. Yolov8 (You Only Look Once Version-8) was utilized for automatic pixel separation and gradient computation, making complicated model training easier. Using deep learning, Easy OCR (Optical Character Recognition) was utilized to retrieve text from number plates. Easy OCR (Optical Character Recognition) was utilized to extract text from license plates, with deep learning algorithms employed to effectively read text in difficult settings. For image and video processing, OpenCV (Open-Source computer Vision Library) was employed. The project titled 'Automatic Number Plate Using YOLOv8 Model' leverages the advanced capabilities of the YOLOv8 model to develop a robust system for automated number plate recognition, serving as the core component for real-time object detection and number plate localization within images and video streams. © 2024 Bharati Vidyapeeth, New Delhi.

Data mining technology plays a crucial role in the area of data analysis. Mining frequent episodes stands out as a pivotal task within this domain, enabling users to forecast future events based on present occurrences. Conventional methods for discovering frequent episodes typically follow a hierarchical approach, involving the generation of candidate episodes and subsequent scanning of sequence data to count their frequency, which can be quite time-consuming, as it necessitates repeated scans of the sequence data and the search for candidate episodes. In this paper, we introduce a novel approach for episode mining in a data stream. Our method distinguishes itself by scanning newly added data to update existing frequent episodes, all without the need for scanning the original data or searching for candidate episodes. The experiments also show that our approach is more efficient compared to other existing methods. © 2024 IEEE.

In today's world, skin diseases are caused by various factors and affect a person's mental and physical wellbeing. Particularly in private areas, there is considerable reluctance to disclose skin diseases, especially among female patients, which further intensifies the challenge of early detection and treatment. To tackle this issue, the study proposes the implementation of eDermaCare, a novel approach leveraging the advanced Residual Network-50 (ResNet-50) convolutional neural network architecture. Several convolutional neural network (CNN) architectures were explored, but unsatisfactory results were obtained. ResNet-50 has the ability to capture complex features from skin images. The goal is to improve skin disease classification using ResNet-50's deep learning capabilities. This model uses the rest of the course to explain training and retention issues. Block balances allow training deep networks without suffering from degradation in performance. As a result, the model achieves a classification accuracy of 76.07%. The proposed system wm help improve early detection and treatment of skin diseases, address societal challenges, and support effective healthcare. © 2024 Bharati Vidyapeeth, New Delhi.
