An essential part of computer vision, lip reading, has grown significantly and is now used in autonomous driving, public safety, and hearing-impaired communication. This work provides an in-dept. analysis of both conventional and deep learning-based lip reading systems, examining their development over time, difficulties encountered, and critical role in human communication. The suggested LipNet model, which leverages the complementary abilities of Long Short-Term Memory networks (LSTMs) for temporal modelling and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for spatial feature extraction, is a central focus of this research. When LipNet is tested using the GRID Corpus dataset, it outperforms baseline models in terms of performance. Saliency maps and viseme analysis highlight LipNet's ability to capture phonologically relevant areas in lip motions, providing insight into the network's attention processes. Apart from examining the importance of datasets such as OuluVs2and GRID Corpus, this study presents GhostNet, a lightweight model that tackles the requirement for effective network designs. The testing results highlight LipNet's competitive Character Error Rate (CER) and Word Error Rate (WER) in comparison to baseline models, proving that it is the best method for real-world use. The research ends with a summary of potential future developments in lip reading technology, such as modal integration, realtime applications, personalisation, ethical issues, and the goal of creating a communication environment that is more inclusive. This study highlights the effectiveness of LipNet and paves the way for future developments in the ever-evolving area of lip reading by examining a variety of methodologies. © 2024 IEEE.

In this study, we address the challenge of predicting air quality indices (AQIs) by leveraging Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks. Recognizing the dynamic nature of air quality data, we explore the efficacy of three LSTM variants - standard LSTM, LSTM with an attention mechanism, and Bidirectional LSTM (BiLSTM) - in capturing temporal dependencies and improving forecast accuracy. Our methodology involved preprocessing a comprehensive dataset of air quality measures, followed by an experimental design that tested each model variant under different sequence lengths (30 and 365 days). The models were evaluated based on their mean squared error (MSE), root mean squared error (RMSE), and mean absolute error (MAE) across three response variables: Nitrogen Oxides (NO), Particulate Matter up to 10 micrometers in size (PM10), and Particulate Matter up to 2.5 micrometers in size (PM2.5). Notably, when comparing the RMSE values across the three models, the LSTM with the attention mechanism consistently outperformed the standard LSTM and BiLSTM models, particularly with a sequence length of 30 days, indicating a superior ability to capture the intricacies of temporal dependencies in environmental data. Moreover, the shorter sequence length generally yielded better predictive performance, suggesting that longer sequences might introduce unnecessary complexity or overfitting. These indications of our study suggest a promising direction for the deployment of attention-based models in real-time AQI prediction systems, which could enhance the accuracy of environmental forecasts and inform public health decisions more effectively. Future work will explore the integration of additional environmental factors, the refinement of model frameworks, and the expansion of the dataset to include multi-city comparisons. © 2024 IEEE.

Specific Language Impairment (SLI) in children, a neurodevelopmental disorder presenting significant hurdles in language acquisition. Motivated by the prevalence and complexity of SLI diagnosis, this article introduces an methodology using Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) and chroma features combined with the XGBoost algorithm for classification. By analyzing a diverse dataset encompassing both SLI-diagnosed and non SLI children, the proposed model achieves efficiency of 99.3% accuracy on unseen data. Notably, the model’s strategic feature selection and utilization of XGBoost demonstrate superior performance compared to existing methods, highlighting its importance in SLI diagnosis and intervention planning. This work significantly advances machine learning-based diagnostic tools and holds promise for improving the quality of life for individuals impacted by SLI. ©2024 IEEE.

In the automotive industry, accurate and efficient vehicle damage detection is crucial for reducing the cost of claims and improving assessment procedures. This paper presents an automated method for vehicle damage detection using deep learning based You Only Look Once models, specifically YOLOv3, YOLOv5, and YOLOv8, in conjunction with two optimizers, AdamW and SGD. The COCOtoYOLO dataset contains pictures with six damage kinds. Gaussian Blur, Median Blur, Grayscale conversion, and Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) improved picture quality and feature visibility. The results reveal that YOLOv8, optimized with SGD over 200 epochs, achieved the highest mean Average Precision (mAP-50) of $72 \%$, surpassing other configurations. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of YOLOv8 and SGD in vehicle damage detection. The highest F1-score of ${9 3 \%}$ for glass shutter class claims the model's robustness for different types of car damages. © 2024 IEEE.

Ocean animals and plants are in danger because there is a lot of trash in the water. This old way of keeping an eye on trash made of plastic in the ocean is hard to do, takes a long time, and can't be used to check the whole ocean. In this plan, the new deep learning algorithms, called You Only Look Once version 8 (YOLOv8), are used to find and sort plastics in the ocean right away. There's a new way to handle this subject. Everyone knows YOLOv8 for how fast and well it can find things. It has been changed in this study to deal with the problems that only happen when taking pictures underwater, like changing light, cloudy water, and different kinds of plastic. A unique set of labeled underwater pictures are used to help it find different kinds of plastic very accurately and quickly. They are different sizes and shapes. Together, YOLOv8 and underwater robotic platforms make a useful and adaptable way to always keep an eye on the ocean. This collects useful information that can be used to protect the environment and lower pollution. Better tools for keeping an eye on the environment are made possible by the study. It also shows how cutting edge AI can be used to solve big environmental problems. © 2024 IEEE.

Dealing with missing data and class imbalance is a necessity for the development of a solid predictive model in medical research. This work presents a novel hybrid dynamic method devoted to addressing these dual challenges, specifically focusing on medical datasets. In this work, we investigate the incompleteness and imbalance of the dataset using two sophisticated measures: the Incompleteness Factor and the Imbalance Ratio. These metrics are used to guide customized approaches. A transformer-based imputation method is employed to learn complex data dependencies to impute missing data. Second, the oversampling method of Self-Attention Enhanced Conditional Generative Adversarial Network is implemented. This technique generates better model training results by accommodating self-attention mechanisms that create fake samples that follow the actual data distributions as well as class distributions. This paper introduces one potential solution to obtain model-level accuracy increase for tasks like disease prediction, patient prognosis, etc., over medical datasets. The proposed method aims to remove the measurement biases caused by incompleteness and class imbalance and preprocess the data to enhance the credibility and clinical relevance of the experimental results. © 2024 IEEE.

Oral carcinoma affects millions of individuals globally and is a major public health problem due to its high fatality rate. Treatment effectiveness depends on early detection and improves survival rates. An effective method for automated oral cancer screening is deep learning. The paper's primary goal is to use deep learning techniques to advance the state of oral cancer diagnosis, specifically YOLOv5 and YOLOv7. We aimed to achieve accurate detection by leveraging bounding box annotations for both two distinct types of data: collected clinical data and benchmark data of oral carcinoma. The proposed methodology encompasses data collection, preprocessing, expert-driven bounding box annotation and the use of cutting-edge deep learning models for lesion identification, YOLOv5 and YOLOv7. Bounding box serving as expert annotations are meticulously added to pinpoint cancerous regions within the images. Subsequently, a comprehensive evaluation is conducted, measuring the performance of both models based on precision, recall rate (sensitivity) and mean average precision (mAP). Our findings reveal that YOLOv5 outperforms YOLOv7 in terms of oral cancer detection, demonstrating superior precision and recall rates. In the evaluation of this research, the YOLOv5 model demonstrated strong performance metrics on both clinical and lip and tongue cancer datasets. For the lip and tongue cancer dataset, the YOLOv5 model achieved a precision of 97.2%, a mAP (mean Average Precision) of 97.7% and a recall of 96.3%. © 2024 IEEE.

This study introduced a system of multi-point capacitive sensing smart garment designed for posture detection. This smart garment utilized multiple capacitive sensors placed at different positions to monitor changes in body posture movements. Since plagiarism is a major problem in both academic and professional settings, it is crucial to create effective plagiarism detection methods. Accuracy evaluation for classical models such as SVM, Naive Bayes, and Random Forests usually involves cross-validation, where the dataset is split into training and testing folds, and the accuracy for each fold is then computed. These techniques lack the neural network-like loss functions, but they can still be used to analyze model performance by charting accuracy against the number of folds. But in CNNs and RNNs, training entails updating a loss function over epochs through iterative optimization;for classification problems, this is usually categorical cross-entropy. The values of the loss function are monitored during training, and the convergence of the model is shown by graphing them against the number of epochs. Accuracy metrics are calculated in parallel for the training and validation stages, and the model's classification accuracy throughout successive epochs is displayed in graphs. The plagiarism detector provides users with a complete report that highlights plagiarized portions together with their original sources which results in 97.99% of accuracy in order to aid educators, researchers, and other professionals in preventing plagiarism. © 2024 IEEE.
