In this paper we propose a low-bandwidth two-level inter-frame/inter-view cache architecture for a view scalable multi-view video decoder, which adopts two decoder cores to decode multi-view videos in parallel. The first level L1 cache is developed for the single video decoder core, which is able to reduce 60% bandwidth in doing inter-frame prediction in average. Moreover, we develop the second level L2 cache architecture to reuse the same reference data for doing inter-view prediction among different decoder cores, which can further reduce 35% bandwidth. By adopting the proposed two-level cache architecture for doing inter-frame/inter-view prediction, we can reduce 80% bandwidth through a view scalable multi-view video decoder implementation, which achieves real-time HD1080 dual-view video decoding.

In order to improve the interoperability and reusability of future defense models and simulations, the Conceptual Models of the Mission Space-Korea (CMMS-K) is being developed. CMMS-K is an ontology-based conceptual modeling framework for military mission spaces. This paper proposes a semantic language for describing a mission space model (MSM) as a main component of CMMS-K. A MSM is a conceptual model for military business processes and scenarios. Compared to previous approaches, the proposed MSM description language is designed to maximize the interoperability and reusability of MSMs. Specifically, it provides a scheme to represent military scenarios meaningfully with domain ontologies, which consist of entity and task ontologies. A MSM may be composed of an atomic process (action) and/or a composite process. The proposed method identifies and reuses military actions and tasks, which play a critical role in military scenarios, through the proposed task ontology. A task is defined as a composition of actions conducted by the same subject. To show the expressivity of the proposed MSM description language, a case study on a close air support scenario is illustrated.

In today's society, information security and hiding is a key mechanism to protecting one's identity. Image morphing can hide a secret image in a morphed image using a second, reference image. One of the primary methods to make the morphing based information hiding technology practically useful is interactive evolutionary algorithm (IEA). When using IEA, however, the user who is rating the images for their naturalness must rate a large amount of images. During this period of time, it is possible for the user to subconsciously shift the rating criteria, thus skewing the results of the algorithm. To help solve this problem, we propose a k-nearest neighbor (k-NN) reminder, which analyzes the user's previous inputs and creates an estimated fitness rating for images to aid the user in grounding his or her ratings. We ran experiments testing the differences in using the IEA with and without the k-NN reminder, looking to see what impact the algorithm had on the speed of the analysis and the ease of the user's rating ability. Results show that in many instances, the k-NN makes it easier for the user to maintain a standard criterion for the rating of images, with no noticeable impact on the speed of the process.

The function of the parahippocampal place area (PPA) is a matter of debate. We investigated this issue in fMRI experiment by 36 normal subjects using two types of tasks: figure and text. Furthermore, the figure tasks contain two kinds of contextual associations: one is among items;the other is among items and their locations which refers to the spatial contextual associations. In contrast, the text tasks contain only item contextual associations - they do not have any spatial information. The results showed that the right PPA located at anterior lingual gyrus and left anterior parahippocampal gyrus nearby amygdala were significantly activated during both figure and text tasks, which indicate that the PPA is more involved in associative information processing. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

This paper presents the real time implementation of genetic algorithm (GA) based PI controller tuning for position control of DC motor. Here the initial value of proportional gain and integral gain of PI controller are selected from well recognized Ziegler Nichols tuning formula and then optimized by GA to achieve the best speed response. After observing the controller response in simulation, the overall control system is implemented on dSPACE DS1104 board to a real Maxon DC motor. The experimental results in testing the Maxon - 2332.968-51.236-200 15W 24V- DC motor show the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme. This paper will also give a clear idea that how to implement a controller with real time DSP system like dSPACE.

In this paper, we present a novel approach for the design of rate-maximizing channel shortening detectors with soft feedback side information for frequency-selective channels. The detector is a soft-input soft-output detector and constitutes one of the components of an iterative receiver. The design optimization is performed from an information-theoretic perspective where we maximize the achievable rate during each step of the iterative process. Our proposed detector consists of a front-end filter whose coefficients are given in closed form in addition to a convex optimization procedure which provides the branch labels of the trellis and the feedback filter coefficients. The detector can be implemented as a BCJR-type algorithm operating on a trellis where the number of states is a user-defined parameter.

K-nearest neighbor (k-NN) classification is one of the most fundamental classification methods and should be one of the first choices for a classification study when there is little or no prior knowledge about the distribution of the data. In addition, nearest neighbor analysis is a method for classifying cases based on their similarity to other cases. In this paper using k-NN method some factors that affect on customer trust in online transactions, were classified. Raw data gathered from customers when they were buying as customer in B2C websites. One questionnaire was developed and data was gathered from online customers. After organizing data, k-NN method was applied and desired results were obtained. Results showed that in which positions customer can trust to B2C websites and which factors are more significant. Accordingly, in this paper k-NN enable us to predict role of factors on trust level in five levels. © 2005 - 2012 JATIT & LLS.

The work presented in this paper has been carried out with the aim of interpreting the data of a GNSS Reflectometer (GNSS-R) over land. The problem involves the analysis of bistatic scattering of the incoming signal collected around the specular direction. This requires to model the coherent component associated to the mean surface but at the same time the diffuse incoherent component due to roughness at wavelength scale. In presence of vegetation, both components will be affected, the former mainly because of the canopy attenuation and the latter for the combined effect of attenuation and volume scattering. The paper reviews the problem and presents the approach followed to develop a simulator of GNSS-R data over land, aiming to support potential applications of GNSS-R for soil moisture and biomass retrieval.

Text classification is an important research topic for managing numerous electronic documents. Feature reduction is the key issue for text classification with high dimensional keywords. A document analysis method called discriminant coefficient was proposed to reduce features and achieve high precision text classification. However, the main problem of the discriminant based feature reduction method is that the final number of reduced features is exactly equal to the number of document classes. Although the precisions of classification are high in such a method, the recalls are relatively low. In this paper, we propose an improvement on the analyzing method indiscriminant coefficients. We apply a simple clustering method to distinguish the documents in each document class to reserve hidden differences among keywords in the same class. The clustering results can help to adjust the number of reduction features flexibly. The experimental results show that the proposed clustering mechanism supports adaptive features reduction and both of the recall and F1 measurements are improved.

The volume of published scientific literature available on Internet has been increasing exponentially. Some of them reflect the latest achievement of the specific research domain. In recent years, many projects have been funded aiming to online scientific literature mining, especially in biomedical research. Scientific literature covers most of the hot topics in the research field and has a very large domain-specific vocabulary. The exploitation of domain knowledge and specialized vocabulary can dramatically improve the result of literature text processing. To evaluate the discriminating capability of vocabularies automatically constructed from domain and non-domain specific corpus, the concept of discrimination index defined by Cosine similarity and Jicard distance was introduced. To validate the effectiveness of domain-specific vocabulary, a large-scale corpus was built from abstract content in IT security literature retrieved from open literature database and annotated manually by experts. Domain vocabularies of single word-vocabulary and co-occurrence phrase-vocabulary were constructed from positive and negative corpus with TF/IDF-like schema. The paper firstly carried some discussion on soundness of its customized seed keywords submit to do "AND"-mode search by retrieval efficiency analysis, it also presented yearly distribution analysis on the retrieved paper and ranked phrases in different vocabularies. The discrimination index values between these vocabularies show that domain vocabulary is more representative and the experimental result of document classification confirms the effectiveness of domain-specific vocabulary although there is no much difference in performance between single word -vocabulary and bi-lexical co-occurrence domain vocabulary.
