Performance on multi-hop networks suffers from limited throughput capacity and poor scalability problems as the network size or density increases (Gupta and Kumar, 2000). One way to alleviate these problems is to equip each node with multiple radios. As hardware cost drops, this approach becomes more and more appealing and feasible. By tuning radios into non-interfering channels, the wireless spectrum can be more efficiently utilized, thus enhancing the whole network performance. This work extensively evaluates Dynamic Source Routing Protocol(DSR) (Johnson and Maltz, 1996) for multi-radio multi-hop networks. Through simulations, DSR with multi-radio extensions exhibits an overall performance improvement for throughput, packet delivery rate and latency.

Even though many approaches for reuse have been introduced, software engineers are still hesitating to reuse existing software components. Two problems are the root cause of this situation. One is the difficulty in knowing whether the required software components are available. The other is the lack of information as to how to reuse the acquired components. To solve this problem, we introduce an extension to Reusable Asset Specification (RAS) and a process for supporting efficient reuse. This paper presents the contribution of CINDI group to the ImageCLEF 2007 ad-hoc retrieval tasks. We experiment with multi-modal (e.g., image and text) interaction and fusion approaches based on relevance feedback information for image retrieval tasks of photographic and medical image collections. For a text-based image search, keywords from the annotated files are extracted and indexed by employing the vector space model of information retrieval. For a content-based image search, various global, semi-global, region-specific and visual concept-based features are extracted at different levels of image abstraction. Based on relevance feedback information, multiple textual and visual query refinements are performed and user's perceived semantics are propagated from one modality to another with query expansion. The feedback information also dynamically adjusts intra and inter-modality weights in linear combination of similarity matching functions. Finally, the top ranked images are obtained by performing both sequential and simultaneous retrieval approaches. The analysis of results of different runs are reported in this paper.

In this paper, we present a prototype tool that automates the process of detecting, gathering and visualizing multi-language software metrics at an intermediate-language level. More specifically, the current version of our tool focuses on code written using the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET software development environment. It facilitates the process of locating and extracting software metrics found at the MSIL (Microsoft Intermediate Language) level. We illustrate the basic functionality of our tool and we discuss a preliminary case study performed in order to verify its functionality and validate its usefulness. Based on the results of this study, we continue improving the tool. Our broader research goal is to show that complexity analysis of multi-language software, when it is done at an intermediate language level, it can be as effective as when conducted at the level of each individual language. This will eventually eliminate the need for developing different syntax parsers for each programming language used to develop multi-language software. The prototype tool described in this paper is the first step towards accomplishing such an objective.
