We present ANEMONA: a language for distributed network management programming. The compilation of an ANEMONA program generates code for configuring DisMan MIB's thus automating a complex task that is prone to errors if done manually. The language allows the definition of expressions of managed objects that are monitored, as well as triggers that when fired may indicate the occurrence of associated events, which are also defined by the language. A translator for the language was implemented that generates code for configuring the Expression MIB and the Event MIB. Experimental results are presented, including an ANEMONA program that detects TCP Syn Flooding attacks, and a program for detecting steep variations on the utilization of monitored links.

In this paper, a novel scheme for testing LC-tank CMOS Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs) is presented. The proposed test circuit is capable of detecting soft and hard faults in a percentage that can guarantee safe overall fault coverage. It has been realized that the proposed technique is capable of detecting open and short circuits as well as process variations outside the specified limits in the passive components of the VCO in a percentage that exceeds 93%. The test result is provided by a digital Fail/Pass signal. Simulation results reveal the effectiveness of the proposed circuit, which additionally presents negligible silicon area requirements in the design process.

A systematic methodology for generating software-based self-tests for microprocessor cores is introduced in this paper. The produced software tests emulate the functionality of a scan path design, and can be applied during the normal-operation mode of the microprocessor, thus enabling at-speed testing. A major advantage of the proposed approach lies in the fact that the generation of the software tests does not require any knowledge about the low-level implementation of the microprocessor and is only based on its RT-level description and its instruction set architecture.

Presented theoretical paper concerns the structure investigation of Si/SiGe/Si heterojunction bipolar device by the extremely sensitive Grazing-angle Incidence X-ray Backdiffraction (GIXB) technique. The silicon cap layer and the silicon substrate have the same value of the spacing period along the growth surface according the proposed model of heterostructure. However, a longitudinal space shift exists between their lattice space periods. Appearance of the space shift is stipulated by the interface misfit dislocations. The magnitude of the space shift is one of the important characteristics of crystalline layers and substrate interface quality, and can be used for the non-destructive control of device parameters during the growth and fabrication processes.

This paper describes an experimental stereo vision based motion planning system for humanoid robots. The goal is to automatically generate arm trajectories that avoid obstacles in unknown environments from high-level task commands. Our system consists of three components: 1) environment sensing using stereo vision with disparity map generation and online consistency checking, 2) probabilistic mesh modeling in order to accumulate continuous vision input, and 3) motion planning for the robot arm using RRTs (Rapidly exploring Random Trees). We demonstrate results from experiments using an implementation designed for the humanoid robot H7.

One central goal of the AMITIÉS multilingual humancomputer dialogue project is to create a dialogue management system capable of engaging the user in human-like conversation in a specific domain. To that end, we have developed new methods for the manual annotation of spoken dialogue transcriptions from European financial call centers. We have modified the DAMSL dialogic schema to create a dialogue act taxonomy appropriate for customer services. To capture the semantics, we use a domain-independent framework populated with domain-specific lists. We have designed a new flexible, platform-independent annotation tool, XDMLTool, and annotated several hundred dialogues in French and English. Inter-annotator agreement was moderate. We are using these data to design our dialogue system, and we hope that they will help us to derive appropriate dialogue strategies for novel situations.

Herein, we propose a novel multilayer Markov random field (MRF) image segmentation model which aims at combining color and texture features: each feature is associated to a so called feature layer, where an MRF model is defined using only the corresponding feature. A special layer is assigned to the combined MRF model. This layer interacts with each feature layer and provides the segmentation based on the combination of different features. The model is quite generic and isn't restricted to a particular texture feature. Herein we will test the algorithm using Gabor and MRSAR texture features. Furthermore, the algorithm automatically estimates the number of classes at each layer (there can be different classes at different layers) and the associated model parameters.
