Food waste is a major issue in students' hostel or dormitories, where uneaten food often ends up in the garbage, resulting in economic losses as well as reducing the food sus-tainability. Although Machine Leaning (ML) has emerged as a promising tool for predicting future events in several files, but a very few has been focused to generate accurate predictions and reducing food waste by analyzing read data for a particular context or a country. Therefore, the objective of this research is to explore the factors of affecting food waste in students' hostel or dormitories and to develop an ensemble ML-based food waste prediction system for the student hostel or dormitories. In order to attain these objectives, this study firstly find out the 18 key features that ensure a comprehensive understanding of food waste patterns;then collected the data against these features over the last six months from various mess records of a students' hostel of an engineering university situated in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Secondly, six classification models were developed and analyzed their results and found that Random Forest and Decision Tree performed best accurate prediction (75.41%). Thirdly, the all possible combinations of the studies ML models were explored to find out the best possible ensemble combination;as such, the proposed ensemble ML model showed the highest F1-score of 86.88% that considers the Random Forest and AdaBoost;while all other possible combinations showed around 80-82% F1-score. This research thus contributes to the broader goal of reducing food waste and promoting sustainability in students' mess and other food service settings;as well as may assist the management team in making data-driven decisions about food production, purchasing, and resource allocation. © 2023 IEEE.

Biomedical literature lacks integration of dynamic drug interaction data for personalized prescriptions. This proposed work is a new hybrid model that enhances drug safety prescriptions by taking into account individual patient features and drug interactions. It does this by hybrid attention mechanisms with Bayesian Decision Theory (BDT), which employs Bayesian statistical thinking instead of the dot-product approach. This approach is driven by the growing complexity of patient profiles and the limitations of current algorithms, which often fail to dynamically change the relevance of individual aspects. This method seeks 94% accuracy, effectively prioritizing safer drug combinations and personalizing drug recommendations. This integration leads to more consistent and customized drug prescriptions, which ultimately improve patient outcomes and advance the field of personalized healthcare. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper focuses on the runtime verification of hyperproperties expressed in Hyper-recHML, an expressive yet simple logic for describing properties of sets of traces. To this end, we consider a simple language of monitors that observe sets of system executions and report verdicts w.r.t. a given Hyper-recHML formula. We first employ a unique omniscient monitor that centrally observes all system traces. Since centralised monitors are not ideal for distributed settings, we also provide a language for decentralized monitors, where each trace has a dedicated monitor;these monitors yield a unique verdict by communicating their observations to one another. For both the centralized and the decentralized settings, we provide a synthesis procedure that, given a formula, yields a monitor that is correct (i.e., sound and violation complete). A key step in proving the correctness of the synthesis for decentralized monitors is a result showing that, for each formula, the synthesized centralized monitor and its corresponding decentralized one are weakly bisimilar for a suitable notion of weak bisimulation. © Luca Aceto, Antonis Achilleos, Elli Anastasiadi, Adrian Francalanza, Daniele Gorla, and Jana Wagemaker.

Water is vital for all life, serving as the foundation for plants and aquatic creatures and promoting abundance among all living beings. This study introduces an innovative approach by combining the Internet of Things (IoT) with advanced sensing techniques to assess water quality. The IoT-powered water quality testing raft has been developed to significantly enhance the monitoring capabilities. Equipped with sensors measuring key parameters such as turbidity, pH, and temperature, the raft provides a comprehensive understanding of water quality. Its GPS module enables real-time tracking and maintains location history, ensuring precise sampling. The collected data undergoes robust processing by a Raspberry Pi, ensuring integrity before being showcased on the Thingsboard. The system's uniqueness lies in its capacity to promptly issue alerts via LINE Notify upon detecting water quality abnormalities, ensuring timely intervention. This IoT-powered raft represents a paradigm shift in water quality assessment, characterised by its precision, remote capabilities, and user-focused approach. Practical applications have been demonstrated through real-world testing in a private lake in Cha-choengsao province, Thailand. The seamless integration of IoT into environmental monitoring marks a significant advancement in ensuring water quality and ecosystem health. © 2024 IEEE.

This research introduces an innovative method for forecasting cardiomegaly, a common heart condition marked by an enlarged heart, by combining deep learning and machine learning methods. Using the ResNet50 architecture, we examine chest X-ray images to identify cardiomegaly indications. At the same time, a Random Forest algorithm analyses clinical data in a table format, such as age, gender, and different cardiac indicators, to improve prediction accuracy. Our approach combines these models to use unstructured images and structured health data, resulting in a comprehensive diagnostic tool. The data, collected from public health databases, was carefully labelled to guarantee accurate training and validation. Preliminary results showed the promising accuracy of the hybrid model, surpassing individual approaches, and demonstrating the potential of integrated models to improve diagnostic capabilities in cardiology. This study helps improve medical imaging and predictive analytics in healthcare, providing a productive solution for early detection and management of cardiomegaly. The results highlight the promise of combining AI models to change diagnostic methods and enhance patient results. © 2024 IEEE.

Neurodegenerative diseases (NDGs) can slowly damage the brain as well as the central and peripheral nervous systems. Parkinson's disease (PD) is a sensitive sensory disease that causes a malfunction of dynamic equilibrium. PD causes certain brain neuronal cells to gradually split or die. There are certain significant characteristics of PD that may increase the risk of acquiring deferent NDGs including Alzheimer's disease (AD), Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Huntington's disease (HD), and Multiple sclerosis disease (MSL). We conducted a transcriptomic analysis to find connections between PD and NDGs. To explore how PD may affect the advancement of NDGs, we employed a quantitative framework to analyze the gene expression microarray dataset. To obtain genomic associations between PD and NDGs, we performed gene expression profiling by identifying dysregulated pathways, gene ontologies, PPIs, and phylogenetic analysis. We found 15, 11, 28, and 24 significant genes are shared between PD and AD, ALS, HD, and MSL respectively. We also identified a significant number of functional and ontological pathways, hub proteins and phylogenetic associations that indicate PD may have a link to develop NDGs (AD, ALS, HD, and MSL). We validate our findings through gold benchmark databases. This systematic approach is highly beneficial in understanding the causes and progression of NDGs owing to the effect of PD. © 2023 IEEE.

Large Language Models (LLMs) are increasingly utilized for software engineering tasks, including code generation. While prior research has primarily focused on code completion, there remains a gap in understanding LLMs' ability to generate code from Natural Language Processing (NLP) descriptions. In this study, we investigated three LLMs' performance in generating code from scratch based on NLP task descriptions. We employed three evaluation levels, Accuracy, Quality, and Performance, to assess the LLMs' results. Accuracy metrics focused on error types and counts, quality assessed code readability and maintainability, and performance measured the models' ability to generate optimized solutions. Codex, Copilot, and PaLM2 exhibited error rates of 9.68%, 32.25%, and 48.38%, respectively. Copilot showed the best performance with a higher maintainability index. However, all LLMs struggled with tasks of high complexity, with time complexities of O(m•n•log(n)), as evidenced by their performance metrics. © 2024 IEEE.

Modern expectations for efficiency and sustainability are sometimes not addressed by the existing approaches in the continually changing environment of agricultural activities. In order to fully address these difficulties, research investigates how precision farming practices may be integrated while utilizing technological improvements. Study attempts to estimate optimal crop choices by assessing important characteristics including area, rainfall, temperature, and district-specific data, giving farmers the power to make well-informed and data-driven decisions. Precision farming lowers risks related to climatic unpredictability, increases output, and minimizes resource waste. By using the strategy, encourage resilience and innovation in the agricultural industry while bridging the gap between current farming practices and the sustainable agriculture of the future. Employing advanced algorithms including LR, Ridge Regression, DTs, and classifiers, achieved a remarkable 96% accuracy rate. Additionally, the proposed system offers real-time alerts via email or SMS, delivering timely advice and actionable insights to enhance agricultural sustainability and productivity. © 2025 IEEE.

Deep visual detectors are known to be vulnerable to adversarial attacks, raising concerns about their real-world applications (e.g., self-driving perception). We argue that this vulnerability arises from the spurious dependency of final detections on irrelevant/loophole latent dimensions. The greater the number of such dimensions, the higher the likelihood of the detector being compromised by adversarial attacks, making it more susceptible to input perturbations. To enhance detection robustness, we propose Detection-related Discriminant Maximization and Reorga-nization (DDMR), condensing the detection utility to a compressed number of relevant dimensions while deactivating the influence of irrelevant ones. This approach also alleviates the misalignment issue between the two task domains in visual detection and, consequently, their gradients. This enables the generation of more potent adversarial attacks and defenses for visual detectors within the adversarial training framework. Extensive experiments conducted with four cutting-edge visual detectors on the KITTI and COCO datasets showcase the efficacy of the proposed approach in improving the adversarial robustness of deep visual detectors against both white-box and black-box attacks. For example, on the KITTI dataset, our method demonstrates an increase in robustness of up to 12.4% and 28.0% without and with adversarial training, respectively. © 2025 IEEE.

One major problem that contributes to many traffic accidents that cause injuries and fatalities all over the world is drowsy driving. This research introduces the novel approach for detecting driver drowsiness using deep networks and computer vision techniques aims to solve this issue and improve road safety. The Proposed system employs an InceptionV3-based Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model to precisely determine whether the driver's eyes are open or closed. A sizable dataset of eye images taken in actual driving situations is used to train the CNN model. Whenever the indicators of drowsiness are detected, the proposed system will identify them in real time and promptly notify the driver. The proposed model not only has strong real-time capabilities but also exhibits superior accuracy based on stringent evaluation metrics, which makes a significant contribution to efforts aimed at promoting road safety. The performance and adaptability of the system are improved and further integrates alarm activation for drowsiness detection in a variety of driving conditions. © 2024 IEEE.
