This paper explores the evolving concept of digital sustainability, emphasizing its growing importance as digital technologies become essential to addressing global sustainability challenges. Through a thematic literature review focused on computer science, we analyze papers from Scopus-indexed journals to identify key themes in the discourse on digital sustainability. Additionally, we map the identified topics to the traditional three-pillar model of sustainable development, noting areas of alignment and divergence. The study offers insights into how digital sustainability is framed within the computer science literature and its implications for future research. © 2025 IEEE.

Our research aims to investigate how machine learning techniques can be applied for efficient image retrieval based on content. It is a very difficult process to obtain accurate images from vast digital image collections. CBIR has been particularly interested in this area. It has been shown that content- or feature-based approaches are more effective than text-based query techniques. Research has shown that the performance of these methods varies depending on the type and size of the data set analyzed, with some algorithms performing well for specific small data sets and others for larger data sets. This article provides a comprehensive and systematic review of effective methods for obtaining the image. The paper's objective is to examine different ML classifiers that are applied via the researchers and compare their results based on accuracy and performance. These algorithms include SVM, KNN, random forest, BoVW, Naive Bayes, and LDA. This review paper can assist researchers in selecting the best classifier for their research, as well as in improving existing classifiers by combining them with other algorithms. © 2024 IEEE.

As the use of machine learning continues to expand, the importance of ensuring its safety cannot be overstated. A key concern in this regard is the ability to identify whether a given sample is from the training distribution, or is an "Out-Of-Distribution" (OOD) sample. In addition, adversaries can manipulate OOD samples in ways that lead a classifier to make a confident prediction. In this study, we present a novel approach for certifying the robustness of OOD detection within a 2-norm around the input, regardless of network architecture and without the need for specific components or additional training. Further, we improve current techniques for detecting adversarial attacks on OOD samples, while providing high levels of certified and adversarial robustness on in-distribution samples. Urban environments face significant challenges due to deteriorating road pavements, affecting all transportation modes' safety and comfort. Traditional methods of road assessment are costly and infrequent, but advancements in mobile technology and crowdsensing offer real-time, large-scale data collection solutions. This paper introduces 'ShakeSensing', a mobile application that uses Android device sensors to measure vibrations experienced by cyclists and scooter users, providing insights into road quality. The collected data, analyzed to assess road conditions, can benefit both users and municipal authorities, promoting safer and more comfortable travel. © 2025 IEEE.

Cybersecurity safeguards computer systems, net- works, and digital information from a wide variety of cyber-attacks. Its major purpose is to protect the privacy of users' data and resources while maintaining their integrity and making them accessible in the digital world. Cybersecurity is an area that receives investment from businesses, individuals, and governments all around the world in order to secure sensitive information, key infrastructure, and digital assets. Protection of Sensitive Information Both individuals and businesses store huge amounts of sensitive information digitally, including personal data, financial records, intellectual property, and trade secrets. This information must be protected in order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure. The protection provided by cybersecurity prevents this information from being stolen, exposed, or accessed without authorization. Cyberattacks can result in severe financial losses, including theft of funds, fraud, and the expenditures associated with recovering from a cyber incident. It is possible to prevent these types of losses by taking preventative measures. Implementing these strategies helps prevent losses of this nature. In this paper, we propose a system architecture of a generic secure system, which can be deployed for various applications, i.e., smart healthcare, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), smart city, etc. We discuss the threats and attacks in cyberspace. Then, we explain the requirements of cybersecurity. Further, we discuss the devastation in the absence of cyber security. We also explain the cybersecurity deployments and techniques under cybersecurity. Then, in the end, some future research directions for cybersecurity are provided. © 2024 IEEE.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a crucial imaging modality in ophthalmology, offering detailed retinal images essential for diagnosing various retinal disorders. In this study, we investigate the application of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and transfer learning to classify retinal OCT images. We compare a custom CNN model with two pretrained models, MobileNet and VGG16, to explore their effectiveness in categorizing retinal diseases. Our study focuses on improving classification accuracy through image enhancement techniques, training methodologies, and model evaluation using confusion matrices. The results highlight the VGG16-based CNN model as the most effective, demonstrating its potential for accurate classification of retinal disorders based on OCT images. Furthermore, we delve into strategies to further enhance the performance of these models, such as data augmentation, finetuning, and hyperparameter tuning. We discuss the importance of these techniques in optimizing model performance and reducing overfitting. Additionally, we emphasize the significance of evaluating models using confusion matrices to gain insights into their performance across different classes. Overall, our findings suggest that CNNs, particularly the VGG16based model, hold promise for improving the automated diagnosis of retinal diseases using OCT imaging, which could lead to better patient outcomes in ophthalmology. © 2024 IEEE.

Human activity recognition (HAR) is crucial for real-world applications such as healthcare, surveillance, and smart homes. Among sensing technologies, millimeter wave (mmWave) sensors stand out due to their contactless nature, high sensitivity, and ability to operate in low-light environments while preserving privacy. However, the scarcity of mmWave sensing data limits the generalizability of mmWave-based HAR systems. To address this, we propose mmAP, a data augmentation and pretraining framework that synthesizes a large mmWave dataset using human mesh data, followed by pretraining a robust and general mmWave heatmap encoder using a multi-modal masked autoencoder framework using the synthesized data. We enhance the model's robustness with heatmap-specific data perturbations and perform task-specific fine-tuning on a small real-world dataset. The experiment results over the baseline demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed mmAP framework. © 2024 IEEE.

We propose an improved method to generate high-quality distributed representations of words. In our previous paper, we introduced a novel method to obtain distributed representations of words with BERT using Wiktionary as semantic sources of words. The previous method outperformed a Wrd2Vec model in a word similarity task, while there still had to be some room to improve in term of semantic accuracy. In this paper, our new method introduces one of Sentence-BERT models to text-embed the semantic sources instead of the original BERT model. We demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms both our previous method and the Word2Vec model in the tasks. © 2024 IEEE.

The DDoS attack stands as Distributed Denial of Service attack refers a harmful effort to intercept on the regular traffic of a targeted web service or server. DDoS attack interferes with the normal network flow of the targeted server, potentially causing significant disruption to its *** send an incoming packet to every node except the arrived node,it used a non-adaptive routing algorithm. DDoS attacks are executed by using multiple compromised systems, which included combination of multiple computers system and other IoT device resources to make a large traffic on targeted network, rendering it inaccessible to legitimate users. In our study we experimented with various machine learning model like as RandomForest, DecisionTree, Xgbbost etc. with a high accuarcy of 99.99% to predict the DDoS attack with publicly available ALDDoS (Application-Layer DDoS) dataset by Warda (Owner). © 2024 IEEE.

This paper describes modified robust algorithms for a line clipping by a convex polygon in E2 and a convex polyhedron in E3. The proposed algorithm is based on the Cyrus-Beck algorithm and uses homogeneous coordinates to increase the robustness of computation. The algorithm enables computation fully in the projective space using the homogeneous coordinates and the line can be given in the projective space, in general. If the result can remain in projective space, no division operation is needed.
