Self-∗ systems focus on optimizing systems regarding adaptation goals, e.g. availability, that relate to properties of the managed system. While these adaptation goals are important, the feedback loop must also be considered. It is problematic if systems adapt too often, make too time-consuming changes that involve insecure transition states, or react too slowly when planning adaptations. Current approaches do not allow to enforce requirements on the adaptation loop - including sensitivity, sta-bility, and transition states. When planning adaptations, those meta-adaptation goals need to be considered and potentially traded off against traditional adaptation goals. Such a tradeoff might entail, for instance, that it may be worth it to adapt a system less frequently, although the overall availability of the system could be higher with more adaptations. We propose to explicitly consider feedback loop requirements for self-adaptive systems. Concretely, we propose using machine learning to predict quality measures based on the state of the feedback loop and the managed system. This information is used to plan for better adaptations that consider the adaptation goals and the meta-adaptation goals of the feedback loop. The explicit representation of meta-adaptation goals and adaptation goals enables the optimization of adaptation strategies, tradeoff analysis, and evaluation of adaptations. © 2024 IEEE.

Decentralized finance (DeFi) has revolutionized the financial industry in recent years. Industries such as banking, insurance, and investment are experiencing a significant shift due to the growth of DeFi. The decentralized finance market is expanding exponentially, emphasizing the potential of digital currencies and decentralized platforms in providing an alternative to the traditional finance paradigm. It eliminates the need for costly intermediaries, reduces transaction fees, and increases accessibility to financial services for everyone, regardless of their geographic location or economic status. With the enormous increase in cryptocurrency investment, individuals and institutions have started to use DeFi. In this context, understanding the architecture and working mechanisms of different DeFi protocols becomes crucial in creating new and innovative products. This review paper explores various DeFi protocols, including derivatives, decentralized exchanges (DEX), lending and borrowing, asset management, and stablecoins. It analyses their internal structure and composability, providing insights into how these protocols can be combined to create new and innovative DeFi products and explore the potential of DeFi in providing an alternative to the traditional finance paradigm. © 2023 The Authors

K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), a simple and widely used algorithm, is extremely valuable in the field of machine learning models. Finding an optimal value of the nearest neighbor parameter in the KNN algorithm has been a problem that has existed for quite some time. In recent years, nature inspired algorithms have been widely emerging, with scope of being utilized in various engineering problems. This work proposes integrating a swarm intelligence optimization technique, the Sparrow Search Algorithm (SSA), for optimizing the process of finding K. The proposed hybrid model has been tested against four datasets of varying sizes and the results depict improvement in efficiency. The improvement is much larger as the size of the dataset increases, with around a 99% improvement in efficiency for the largest dataset tested on. KNN is also used to preprocess two of the datasets which have missing values, which result in improved accuracies of prediction. © 2023 IEEE.

Digital game-based learning (DGBL) has been viewed as an effective teaching strategy that encourages students to pick up and learn a subject. This paper explores its viability to help increase the reach and efficiency of the existing cybersecurity awareness spreading campaigns that find adolescent students as their demographic. This work intends to reinforce the benefits of multimedia learning in schools and universities with the use of video games and further find the ideal type and genre of game that can be developed to spread awareness about cybersecurity to students in grades 8th to 12th (tailored towards the Indian context). Game genres were compared on the basis of having a simple gameplay loop, being easy for instructors to train themselves in, being inclusive to special needs children, being able to be published as an independent title, and having very low hardware specification requirements. Ideally, the paper proposes that this game would be a single-player experience that would follow a game-based learning approach to maximize the game's reach. Once identified, the model of the game was assessed using already existing implementations. Finally, the ideal model, a single-player visual novel is proposed. A future iteration of the paper will implement the proposed model of game design and perform an analysis of the effects the video game had on the learning experience of the students surveyed. © 2023 IEEE.

Principal Components Analysis (PCA) is a popular dimensionality reduction and feature selection technique. It works by swiping non-informative features while retaining those that are still potentially useful. However, regardless of its wide applications in statistical analysis, the influence of PCA on the performance of classification algorithms has been rarely studied, particularly in the domain of medical image classification. In this paper, we present a thorough analysis of the influence of applying PCA on the classification of medical images. The dataset used in this study consists of thousands of images that represent four types of blood cells. These images are used to train three machine-learning classifier models after transforming images into numerical vectors using a CNN pre-trained embedding algorithm, where each image is encoded using one thousand numerical vectors. The study involves building three classification models using (1) K-nearest Neighbor (KNN), (2) Logistic Regression (LR), and (3) Random Forests (RF). Each model was built twice, once after the application of PCA to reduce the dimensionality of the embedded features and once with the original embedded features. The performance of each model is evaluated using Classification accuracy, F1, AUC, Recall, precision, and specificity metrics. The recorded performance is then compared to drawing a decisive conclusion. © 2024 IEEE.

The advancement of Information Technology has made cloud computing technology an innovative model for offering its consumers services on a rental basis at any time or location. Numerous firms converted to cloud technology by establishing new data centers because of the flexibility of cloud services. However, it has become necessary to ensure successful job execution and effective resource usage. Load balancing (LB) in cloud computing remains a complex challenge, specifically in the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud architecture. A server being overloaded or underloaded is a problem that mustn't happen in the process of cloud access because it would slow down processing or causes a system crash. Hence, to ignore these problems, a suitable resource schedule must be taken, so that system can load balance tasks over all accessible assists. This research suggests effective load-balancing approaches by analyzing the advantages, applications, and disadvantages of conventional LB techniques. The conclusions show that this research provides an exceptional path for researchers to overcome major drawbacks of existing LB techniques and achieves greater efficiency based on makespan, execution and response time, resource usage, efficiency, load balancing and throughput. © 2023 IEEE.

Towards Early Diagnosis and Intervention: An Ensemble Voting Model for Precise Vital Sign Prediction in Respiratory Disease

Worldwide, cardiovascular and chronic respiratory diseases account for approximately 19 million deaths annually. Evidence indicates that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic directly contributes to increased blood pressure, cholesterol, as well as blood glucose levels. Timely screening of critical physiological vital signs benefits both healthcare providers and individuals by detecting potential health issues. This study aims to implement a machine learning-based prediction and classification system to forecast vital signs associated with cardiovascular and chronic respiratory diseases. The system predicts patients' health status and notifies caregivers and medical professionals when necessary. Utilizing real-world data, a linear regression model inspired by the Facebook Prophet model was developed to predict vital signs for the upcoming 180 seconds. With 180 seconds of lead time, caregivers can potentially save patients' lives through early diagnosis of their health conditions. For this purpose, a Naïve Bayes classification model, a Support Vector Machine model, a Random Forest model, and genetic programming-based hyper tunning were employed. The proposed model outdoes previous attempts at vital sign prediction. Compared with alternative methods, the Facebook Prophet model has the best mean square in predicting vital signs. A hyperparameter-tuning is utilized to refine the model, yielding improved short- and long-term outcomes for each and every vital sign. Furthermore, the F-measure for the proposed classification model is 0.98 with an increase of 0.21. The incorporation of additional elements, such as momentum indicators, could increase the model's flexibility with calibration. The findings of this study demonstrate that the proposed model is more accurate in predicting vital signs and trends. IEEE

The introduction of the fifth generation (5G) of mobile networks (5G) has showed how crucial enhanced scheduling approaches are managing the scarce frequency spectrum whereas meeting 5G transmission needs. Openairinterface (OAI) simulation environment helps the researcher to analyses various components of 4G/5G Networks. In this paper, performance of 5G mobile network is analyzed by comparing the results with 5G scheduler algorithms available in OAI in terms of throughput. offered by openairinterface to check the performance. Simulated OAI environment consists of UE and gNodeB (gNB). The pcap file is generated and analyzed using Wireshark. The results show how schedulers allocated resources to UE from gNodeB (gNB) and throughput is the performance metric used to analyze. Resource allocation using Round Robin at UE gives uniform throughput compare to first in first out based resource allocation. © 2023 IEEE.

Efficient currency detection and counting systems are crucial for the smooth operation of any financial ecosystem. This paper explores the development, implementation, and potential impact of a specialized currency detection and counting system for Bangladeshi coin currencies. Through this comprehensive study, this paper addresses the unique challenges and opportunities in Bangladesh's coin currency management landscape, highlighting the motivations and results of such a system's introduction. computer vision technology includes currency detection. In this paper, we present a coin currency detection system that can detect coin currency from images. Designing a CNN-based coin recognition system for the recognition of Bangladeshi coins of denominations '1tk', '2tk', and '5tk'. We have created a dataset that contains more than 10,000 images. We photographed coin currencies from both sides, and the system can recognize coin currencies from both sides. For high efficiency, we test on various backgrounds. Experimental results are presented successfully with a training accuracy of 99.99% with VGG16, 99.38% with VGG19, and 99.99% with EfficientNetB0. We also got validation accuracy with VGG16 of 90.90%, 99.96% with VGG19, and 99.51% with EfficientNetB0. © 2024 IEEE.
