As the deployment of smart home IoT devices and smart grid infrastructure grows, the threat of cyberattacks has become a pressing concern. The common vulnerability exposure (CVE) of smart grid infrastructure presents a prime opportunity for attackers to launch cyberattacks, often exploiting the vulnerabilities of medium and vulnerable smart home IoT devices. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of cyberattacks launched on the smart grid through vulnerable IoT devices, using key security metrics to evaluate the attacks' success probability and path analysis. Our main contribution is decreasing the attack success probability, risk, and cost to attackers while increasing the unlikelihood and rarity of attack paths. To achieve this, we created four case study models using the GridAttackAnalyzer on the Feeder R4-12.47-2 of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). Additionally, we developed a fifth model that deploys patching of CVEs for the previous case studies. Our analysis revealed that our models are the first of their kind created using the GridAttackAnalyzer, and the patch model has successfully achieved the aim of reducing the attack success probability and risk to the smart grid system. The findings of this study can inform the development of effective cyber defense strategies for smart home IoT devices and smart grid infrastructure. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper describes the mathematical background, derivation, and application of homogeneous transformation matrices for robotics, as well as algorithms and simulations demonstrating their utility. It shows how to obtain any arbitrary rotation matrix by combining rotations around multiple axes. The resulting generalized rotation matrix is used to obtain a 3x3 rotation matrix that depends on the angles of rotation about the x, y, and z-axes. We also derived the generic homogeneous transformation matrix, which combines the rotation matrix with a translation vector to represent a transformation in 3D space. The resulting 4x4 transformation matrix is used to convert coordinates between different frame-of-reference in a simulated robotic workspace. The algorithm was used to simulate the trans-rotation of kinematic chains in robotics, based on the derived transformation matrix, thus demonstrating the correctness of the underlying models.

The market for the Internet of Things (IoT) is expanding at an exponential rate. As IoT devices increasingly rely on cloud computing for data processing, storage, and management, the security of cloud-based IoT services becomes paramount. Many of these services depend on the IoT device’s location. Therefore, secured localization systems are necessary. However, traditional security techniques are resource-consuming. An alternative method for detecting localization attacks in IoT is through trust models. This paper proposes a distributed trust management technique for localization in Mobile IoT, specifically designed to enhance the security and trustworthiness of cloud-based IoT services. The trust of a node is computed based on its availability and service quality. Nodes use this information to calculate their neighbors’ and anchor nodes’ trust values. We simulated the proposed system using the Cooja simulator. The results show that the proposed trust-based localization technique can help unknown nodes mobilize and reach a target location, reducing the control group’s error by 186.4% at the cost of 4.8 μJ only. The system finds application in indoor localization for location-based cloud services, such as locating shops of items in shopping malls.

The ECG signal analysis and diagnosis algorithms have been studied for decades. There are some state of art algorithms that have been developed. In this paper, we proposed a compatible ECG automatic diagnosis Cloud Computing framework in order to integrate these exist algorithms. On the other hand, there are many studies regarding the IoT based health diagnosis system. But there are few of that aiming at the personal use health monitor and diagnose. Basing on our proposed framework, users can diagnose their heart health status by themselves conveniently anywhere and anytime through the mobile application. The ECG character automatic classification computing algorithm is compatible for Python and MATLAB by introducing the hybrid programming technic on the cloud computing side. So that, it is easy for researchers to integrate their developed algorithm into this framework to build an application quickly. We developed a prototype application as well to verify the availability of this framework. © 2020 ACM.

We introduce a goal-aware extension of responsibility-sensitive safety (RSS), a recent methodology for rule-based safety guarantee for automated driving systems (ADS). Making RSS rules guarantee goal achievement—in addition to collision avoidance as in the original RSS—requires complex planning over long sequences of manoeuvres. To deal with the complexity, we introduce a compositional reasoning framework based on program logic, in which one can systematically develop RSS rules for smaller subscenarios and combine them to obtain RSS rules for bigger scenarios. As the basis of the framework, we introduce a program logic dFHL that accommodates continuous dynamics and safety conditions. Our framework presents a dFHL-based workflow for deriving goal-aware RSS rules; we discuss its software support, too. We conducted experimental evaluation using RSS rules in a safety architecture. Its results show that goal-aware RSS is indeed effective in realising both collision avoidance and goal achievement.

Summary evaluation method is crucial to promote the development of summarization technologies. However, most of the existing summary evaluation methods seldom consider the content integrity and readability of summaries simultaneously. This paper proposed a Linguistic Quality and Semantic Similarity Model (LQSSM) to evaluate generated summaries more comprehensively. Considering the readability of summaries, a linguistic quality evaluation network (LQEN) is proposed to evaluate summaries automatically. Meanwhile, a semantic similarity evaluation network (SSEN) is introduced to directly measure the informativeness between the summary and original . Additionally, there is also a comprehensive evaluation using fusion indicators. The LQSSM and Recall-Oriented Understudy for Gisting Evaluation (ROUGE) methods were used to score the summaries generated by five models. The results showed that the proposed method gave further feedback from different angles on the basis of reaching the level of other methods. © 2020 IEEE.

In response to the lack of effective means for detecting and locating malicious exchange nodes in data flow transmission links within the Internet of Things (IoT), this paper proposes a zero-trust management method for data flow between edge nodes based on software defined networking (SDN) communication and control of cyber-physical systems (CPS). To detect and prevent anomalous behaviors like data tampering, forwarding path anomalies, and malicious packet drops through forwarding verification by exchange nodes, SDN-ZTM applies SDN to the data transmission process between IoT edge nodes. This approach applies the SDN architecture to the transmission process of data flows between edge nodes, utilizing a fixed-length header overhead for zero-trust management of data flows, nodes, and paths, thereby enabling lightweight packet forwarding verification and malicious exchange node localization. Simulation studies and theoretical research show that SDN-ZTM offers more extensive security features than similar methods. Additionally, SDN-ZTM is a lightweight, useful solution appropriate for IoT application scenarios since it introduces a fixed-length header and has a smaller performance overhead. Experimental results show that the method introduces less than 10% forwarding delay and less than 8% throughput loss. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

information Retrieval (IR) application to the refinement and improvement of search expressions, is one of the major areas of computer science. That's the reason why several types of work are identified, depending on the intrinsic study of the categories structure, or its use as a tool for the processing and analysis of another documentary corpus different to Wikipedia. This paper revises them identifying not only the different category uses, and applications by adopting a systematic literature review approach of IR research but also analyzing how a knowledge organization system, developed collaboratively, is being used as a research tool in different approaches to information processing and retrieval. Surprisingly, the set of available works shows that in many cases research approaches applied and results obtained can be integrated into a comprehensive and inclusive concept of IR.
