Use cases are a widely accepted way to define application functionality. They can therefore form a solid basis for testing the correct functionality and quality of service of a developed application. In this paper, we describe a method for semi-automated generation of test scenarios for simulation testing of software components and component-based applications. It derives the scenarios from the use cases written in natural language, enriched with annotations that allow us to connect the specification with the source code of the application. This helps us to generate a sequence of method invocations within the tested application that forms a testing scenario. The achieved benefit is that the utilization of use cases not only helps to keep tests directly related to the original requirements of the application, it also makes it possible to easily generate new test cases when the requirements on the application change.

Screen content video coding is becoming increasingly important in various applications, such as desktop sharing, video conferencing, and remote education. In January 2014, the ITU-T and ISO/IEC MPEG jointly issued call for proposals for screen content coding as an extension of HEVC. In general, compared to natural camera-captured video content, screen content has different characteristics, e.g., sharper edges, and fewer unique colors on a block-by-block basis. Palette coding for screen content has been recently proposed in the ongoing HEVC Range Extensions standardization. Palette coding utilizes the fact that there are few unique colors in screen content video blocks, and tries to send palettes of these unique colors. However, the size of these palettes can expand, especially in highresolution video. Therefore, to reduce the overall bits for palette transmission, we present various palette prediction techniques in this paper. We first analyze the characteristics of palettes in screen content, and then propose various palette prediction techniques. Our experiments on HEVC test sequences in state-of-the-art HM range extensions software for HEVC show significant improvements over palette coding without any prediction, at almost negligible additional complexity. © 2014 IEEE.

In Large Area Air Shower experiments, one of EAS arrays is deployed on the second floor of four stories building in the campus of Okayama University of science to limit the zenith angle acceptance of muon detection. This system provide EAS muon intensities from zenith solid angles. To compare these intensities with solar activities such as flares, CME and magneticstorms, LAAS data have been analyzed. Faster data acquisition with Ha/CaK solar telescope have also been carried out. In this presentation, cosmic ray variations for four years since 2011 are going to be reported as well as fast image data.

Many people get lost easily in public places if they are not familiar with the environment. It would be very helpful to have an indoor localization system. Many researches in indoor localization can be found in the literature. However, they usually need to deploy sensors in the environment. It is costly and inconvenient. In this research, we propose to develop a smartphone indoor positioning application based on accelerometer and gyroscope data. The PDR (Pedestrian Dead Reckoning) method is used to build this application. Calibration points are marked both on the floor ground and on the map of the application. The user first finds a calibration mark, stand on it and face the right direction. He/she then place the android icon (representing the user) on top of the calibration point. When he/she starts to move, the android icon also moves on the map following the real-time estimates of step length and orientation change for each step from accelerometer and gyroscope data, respectively. Preliminary results in walking distance and orientation estimation show high accuracy. The application seems promising and useful as long as a map and calibration marks are built in advance.

Language delay is a developmental problem of children who do not acquire language as expected for their chronological ages. Without timely intervention, language delay can act as a lifelong risk factor. Speech-language pathologists highlight that effective parent participation in everyday parent-child conversation is important to treat children's language delay. For effective roles, however, parents need to alter their own lifelong-established conversation habits, requiring extensive period of conscious effort and staying alert. In this paper, we present new opportunities for mobile and social computing to reinforce everyday parent-child conversation with therapeutic implications for children with language delays. Specifically, we propose TalkBetter, a mobile in-situ intervention service to help parents in daily parent-child conversation through real-time meta-linguistic analysis of ongoing conversations. Through extensive field studies with speech-language pathologists and parents, we report the multilateral motivations and implications of TalkBetter. We present our development of TalkBetter prototype and report its performance evaluation. Copyright © 2014 ACM.

A novel method combining the nuclear norm minimization (NNM) and continuous-time (CT) subspace identification method (CSIM) is proposed to identify the CT Hammerstein model with little priori information. The nuclear norm minimization, which is the heuristic convex relaxation of the minimum rank constraint, is applied to the CT subspace identification method, for the purpose of improving the robustness and accuracy of identification. The proposed method can perform the identification well without the priori information about the Hammerstein model, which not only reduces the complexity of the identification problem but also broaden its applications. The nonlinear block of Hammerstein model is approximated with the pseudospectral method, which replaces the nonlinear function with Lagrange basis functions. A typical numerical example is presented to verify the NNMCSI method and the identification results are compared with the refined instrumental variable method. © 2014 IEEE.

Cooperative driving in general and Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control (CACC) or platooning in particular require blending control theory, communications and networking, as well as mechanics and physics. Given the lack of an integrated modeling framework and theory as well as the prohibitively high costs of using prototypes for what-if studies, simulation remains the fundamental instrument to evaluate entire cooperative driving systems. This work presents Plexe, an Open Source extension to Veins that offers researchers a simulation environment able to run experiments in realistic scenarios, taking into account physics and mechanics of the vehicles, communications and networking impairments, and Inter-Vehicle Communication (IVC) protocol stacks. Plexe is easily extensible and already implements protocols to support platooning and cooperative driving applications and several state of the art cruise control models. We describe the structure of the simulator and the control algorithms that Plexe implements and provide two use cases which show the potential of our framework as a powerful research tool for cooperative driving systems.

With the development of information technology and awareness of energy reservation, more and more people and organizations are interested in remote working. When sensitive data is transmitted and stored online, security becomes one of the big challenges for remote working. In this paper, a novel solution as a security service on cloud computing platform with an on-demand virtual private network(VPN) is proposed. Advantages of the solution are on-demand, easy to use, cost effective and simple management. It can also save expenditure for small and medium-sized enterprises who don't need to invest in IT systems to set up their own VPN for remote working.

Microblog has become a major platform for information about real-world events. Automatically discovering realworld events from microblog has attracted the attention of many researchers. However, most of existing work ignore the importance of emotion information for event detection. We argue that people's emotional reactions immediately reflect the occurring of real-world events and should be important for event detection. In this study, we focus on the problem of communityrelated event detection by community emotions. To address the problem, we propose a novel framework which include the following three key components: microblog emotion classification, community emotion aggregation and community emotion burst detection. We evaluate our approach on real microblog data sets. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework. © 2014 Association for Computational Linguistics.
