Face sketch is done by sketch artist for a suspected or missing person from the description of an eyewitness. These methods have been widely used by forensic investigators. It is difficult for the sketch artist to draw perfectly from such verbal descriptions given by eyewitness of scenes and hard for the informer to confirm whether the sketch looks like the real person. In this work, we proposed a conditional generative adversarial network (cGAN) for synthesizing real human face taking a sketch as an input image. The focus of our model is to generate realistic images that preserve the identity the target person verified by face recognition algorithms. The proposed cGAN has been verified on a variety of facial sketches, which confirms the effectiveness and improved facial recognition score.

Metasurface-coated devices: A new paradigm for energy-efficient and secure 6G communications

The sixth-generation (6G) era comes with the challenge of offering highly energy-efficient and autonomous communications securely. In this direction, we report energy efficiency (EE), energy harvesting (EH), and secure performance by employing power-collecting metasurface-coated devices capable of supporting ultra-low-power (ULP) transmissions. Contrary to reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), where the reflected signal can be combined at the receiver by being treated as transmitted from a relay, the proposed metasurface claddings can be deployed at either or both the transmitter and receiver. The passive metasurface-coated devices can achieve ultra-high EE and EH besides the signal detection, combined with an enhanced secrecy rate at the legitimate user and/or improved spying capabilities of the eavesdroppers under ULP transmission. To quantify their efficiency, we provide a holistic model for the utilization of the metasurface shells. Building upon the aforementioned model, preliminary results are presented that reveal the unprecedented superiority of the proposed concept compared to the RIS paradigm. Additionally, we enumerate the main advantages of the new concept and define its role in the 6G era. Finally, possible research directions are discussed. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. Myocardial infarction (MI) results in heart muscle injury due to receiving insufficient blood flow. MI is the most common cause of mortality in middle-aged and elderly individuals around the world. To diagnose MI, clinicians need to interpret electrocardiography (ECG) signals, which requires expertise and is subject to observer bias. Artificial intelligence-based methods can be utilized to screen for or diagnose MI automatically using ECG signals. In this work, we conducted a comprehensive assessment of artificial intelligence-based approaches for MI detection based on ECG as well as other biophysical signals, including machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) models. The performance of traditional ML methods relies on handcrafted features and manual selection of ECG signals, whereas DL models can automate these tasks. The review observed that deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) yielded excellent classification performance for MI diagnosis, which explains why they have become prevalent in recent years. To our knowledge, this is the first comprehensive survey of artificial intelligence techniques employed for MI diagnosis using ECG and other biophysical signals. © 2021, CC BY-SA.

Multi-relation Question Answering is a challenging task, due to the requirement of elaborated analysis on questions and reasoning over multiple fact triples in knowledge base. In this paper, we present a novel model called Interpretable Reasoning Network that employs an interpretable, hop-by-hop reasoning process for question answering. The model dynamically decides which part of an input question should be analyzed at each hop;predicts a relation that corresponds to the current parsed results;utilizes the predicted relation to update the question representation and the state of the reasoning process;and then drives the next-hop reasoning. Experiments show that our model yields state-of-the-art results on two datasets. More interestingly, the model can offer traceable and observable intermediate predictions for reasoning analysis and failure diagnosis, thereby allowing manual manipulation in predicting the final answer. © 2018 COLING 2018 - 27th International Conference on Computational Linguistics, Proceedings. Typing Assistant is a helping tool that autocompletes writing, both by completing current words and suggesting relevant word sequences. Smart typing assistant is the one that can suggest more than just the current word. Based on the context, it is able to suggest the next few words that are relevant. In this work, we propose such a model using the recent advancement of the recurrent neural network. It is a context-aware model that can predict the next few words conditioning on the context user is writing. This is a general purpose solution to typing assistant system. Our work stands out from other research in two cases. First, rather than using only a temperature variable to introduce randomness in the generation and choosing only one character, we used beam search to generate multiple words suggestion. Second, we used encoder-decoder architecture to generate more than the one-word suggestion. Often more than one word of this suggestion is relevant enough to choose and that makes the typing more efficient. We tried it for both Bangla and English. In both cases, it gave impressive suggestions during typing. © 2018 IEEE.

In this paper, a novel 3D cellular model consisting of aerial base stations (aBSs) and aerial user equipments (aUEs) is proposed, by integrating the coordinated multi-point (CoMP) transmission technique with the theory of stochastic geometry. For this new 3D architecture, a tractable model for aBSs' deployment based on binomial Delaunay-tetrahedralization is developed, which ensures seamless coverage for a given space. In addition, a versatile and practical frequency allocation scheme is designed to eliminate the inter-cell interference effectively. Based on this model, performance metrics including the ergodic data rate and coverage probability are derived for two types of aUEs: i) general aUE (i.e., an aUE having distinct distances from its serving aBSs) and ii) the worst-case aUE (i.e., an aUE having equal distances from its serving aBSs). Simulation and numerical results demonstrate that the proposed approach emphatically outperforms the conventional binomial-Voronoi tessellation without CoMP. Insightfully, it provides a similar performance as to the binomial-Voronoi tessellation which utilizes the conventional CoMP scheme;yet, introducing a considerably reduced computational complexity and backhaul/signaling overhead. Sentence compression condenses a sentence while preserving its most important contents. Delete-based models have the strong ability to delete undesired words, while generate-based models are able to reorder or rephrase the words, which are more coherent to human sentence compression. In this paper, we propose Operation Network, a neural network approach for abstractive sentence compression, which combines the advantages of both delete-based and generate-based sentence compression models. The central idea of Operation Network is to model the sentence compression process as an editing procedure. First, unnecessary words are deleted from the source sentence, then new words are either generated from a large vocabulary or copied directly from the source sentence. A compressed sentence can be obtained by a series of such edit operations (delete, copy and generate). In recent wireless LANs, multicast transmission is increasing in addition to unicast that is transferred mainly based on TCP. On the other hand, because mobile and wearable computers have been diffused widely, power saving of wireless stations becomes more important. In this paper, in general environments where multicast and unicast flows coexist, we propose a new transmission method of both multicast and unicast packets, that assigns sufficient transmission opportunities for unicast TCP flows, while achieving power saving performance for wireless stations receiving multicast flows.
