Sleep apnea syndrome (SAS) is common but people are generally unaware of this condition, as it occurs during sleep. A method was previously proposed to estimate respiration during sleep in a non-contact and non-constraint manner using a dept. camera that is suitable for everyday use. The method was validated on subjects who were awake but remains untested under sleeping conditions. In this study, 12 men aged 65 years or older were tested under actual sleeping conditions for eight days. The effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method were confirmed through a comparison with commercially available products. © 2024 IEEE.

Mobile healthcare has attracted significant attention in recent years as people have become more health-conscious. Furthermore, there is an increasing demand for non-contact and non-invasive diagnostic methods to reduce the risk of infection and pain. This study proposes a healthcare system that detects pathological symptoms by utilizing speech audio. Existing methods for the detection of COVID-19 have relied on cough recordings. To investigate the potential application of this method in the real use case, this study utilizes speech audio instead of cough recording. Our target is to alleviate the burden on the medical field and help medical workers by implementing this mobile healthcare system. This method uses transfer learning to address the problem of limited data. We evaluate the accuracy with transfer learning and random forest classification utilizing the specific features extracted in such a spectrum and spectrogram. © 2024 IEEE.

DNA sequence classification is a major challenge in biological processing of data. The classification of DNA sequences is an important study field in bioinformatics since it allows researchers to perform genomic analysis. Through this research, we tried to analyze the performance of various machine learning (ML) algorithms in identifying DNA genes in humans and chimpanzees to find the most effective algorithm for classification of DNA sequences. The results of this research outperformed earlier studies, which had an accuracy around 98%. The dataset was preprocessed using k-mer counting, which assisted in finding key characteristics for the model's training. Naïve Bayes stood out, with an outstanding accuracy of 98.4% for human DNA and 91.4% for chimpanzee DNA. After improving the parameters, Naïve Bayes continued to improve, with human DNA accuracy increasing to 99% and chimpanzee DNA accuracy to 92% in all categories followed by Logistic Regression at 93.9% for human DNA sequences and Ridge Classifier at 90.2% for chimpanzee DNA sequences. K-Nearest Neighbors, Ridge Classifier, Logistic Regression, Decision Tree, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, Extra Trees, XGBoost, and Naïve Bayes were among the algorithms tested, with accuracy, F1 score, precision, and recall used in assessing their performance. These findings highlight the necessity of selecting the appropriate models and tweaking their parameters to improve performance. © 2024 IEEE.

Climate change in simpler words means the change in the long-term average weather parameters. Climate change is an important issue because its causing imbalance in the environment and affects the lives of all flora and fauna. The climate change is due to many factors, but the major factor is the human activities which are leading to global warming over the past decades. Numerous studies consider analysis of continental or global data, providing the overall insights in climatic changes continentally or globally respectively. The approach in this paper considers regional analysis to provide better insights to the local people needs so they get adapted to the changes that are taking place. This provides a warning to the people to take preventive and precautionary measures. The dataset of Karnataka region from 1951 to 2020 is used to study the regional climate change pattern. The main objective of the paper is to analyze the climate change and extending in the future. The results show that there is a gradual increase of average mean surface air temperature and gradual decrease of the precipitation over each decade between the years 1951 to 2020. The trend line extending to 2040 by analyzing the historical data gives insights about the climate change in the near future. Understanding the historical data and the future predictions are very important to the policy makers, people and researchers so that effective planning can be done for adapting and decreasing the climate change patterns. © 2024 IEEE.

The development of emotions begins in a child from infancy and continues into adulthood. The pre-primary experiences are unique to each child and the learning environments in early life often serve as the source for behavioral outcomes as they grow. The study is mainly based on detecting the emotions of children to have an insight of their behavior with respect to the external environment. The approach aligns with the Goal-3 Good health and well-being of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It provides with the behavior pattern in better understanding of the child emotions both by parents and teachers of the student. Emotion recognition model using image processing enable understand how the emotions of children change and affects their lives with the human interaction. The model uses Transfer Learning model. Many students sit in front of their computers and can easily analyze their interaction with the system. The technology is evolving and using this model, can analyze human interaction and their behavior patterns in a given particular situation. © 2024 IEEE.

The rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape requires innovative and adaptive intrusion detection solutions. Traditional signature-based intrusion detection systems, despite their high accuracy, are inherently inflexible and susceptible to evasion tactics, making them ineffective against novel and sophisticated attacks. In contrast, machine learning-powered anomaly-based intrusion detection systems demonstrate improved detection capabilities, but their advantages are often outweighed by substantial drawbacks, including significant computational resource requirements when the dataset and its features for behavior analysis increase. Also, there are high power consumption and latency issues in communication that compromise network performance. This study proposes a hybrid ANN-LSTM approach for performing deep packet inspection and efficiently detecting malicious network packets. By analyzing binary container data, our model reduces time and space complexity, thereby mitigating the computational resources and power consumption challenges but also increasing the efficiency of intrusion detection by 3%, making it more intelligent than various established IDS. © 2025 IEEE.

A rising number of spy cameras installed in sensitive locations globally poses an escalating threat to personal privacy. Detecting these small and well-concealed cameras with the naked eye is challenging. Despite the abundance of Android apps, accurate detection remains elusive, with many requiring subscriptions and some charging users without prior notice. Furthermore, most IoT devices are designed to detect wired cameras, overlooking the prevalence of wireless spy cameras. Existing studies often rely on impractical methods, such as wireless transmission detection. The primary objective of this paper is to develop a cost-effective, scalable, robust, and user-friendly spy camera detector. This detector identifies all night vision cameras emitting infrared light, promptly alerting the user through a beep sound from the attached buzzer. In addressing the imperative need for heightened privacy protection, the IoT spy camera detector adept.y spots concealed cameras via IR signals. By offering user-friendly location alerts through a reassuring buzzer, it actively contributes to enhancing security measures against evolving privacy threats, creating a safer environment for all. © 2024 IEEE.

Marine vessels are equipped with advanced and integrated complex machines that operate in challenging conditions, where the failure rate is high. One of the most vital elements of these machines is fault diagnosis and maintaining 100 percent operational states. Any machinery breakdown at sea during maritime operations can have severe consequences leading to operational impacts and reducing combat efficiency. The existing maintenance routines - PPM (Planned Preventive Maintenance) and CBPM (Condition Based Predictive Maintenance) are reactive approaches that may miss early signs of material degradation, leading to unplanned machinery breakdown at sea. An efficient method to counter this issue in real time is thermal imaging. The dataset required to develop a thermal prognostic model for real-time machinery health detection is not available. This paper presents a systematic approach to develop a prognostic model for real time machinery health detection via thermal imaging. We have developed a custom thermal image dataset representing various machinery conditions-normal, defective and degraded. We have developed our real-time prognostic model 'Thermal Prognostic Model'. This model targets fuel systems to prevent major fires and accidents at sea by predicting potential failures and taking corrective actions with mAP50 0.956, precision 0.945 and recall 0.957. © 2025 IEEE.

The use of deep learning algorithms for vehicle detection and speed estimate in traffic surveillance systems is investigated in this research study. Cucumbers are crucial agricultural commodities worldwide, necessitating production enhancements and quality maintenance. However, several diseases can easily hamper cucumber production if not classified and detected early. This study proposes a modified deep learning approach for identifying and classifying cucumber diseases at early stages using the Kaggle dataset. We applied data augmentation techniques to enhance the robustness of our model. We replaced the original MobileNetV2 classifier with custom classifiers, including linear layers, batch normalization, and ReLU activations to identify the effective features. Our proposed model achieved a high accuracy of 96.81%, which surpasses the accuracy of recent existing models in cucumber leaf disease classification. In the future, we plan to use a larger dataset, and this model can be adapted to work with various IoT devices for deployment in real-time applications. © 2024 IEEE.
