Optical Head-Mounted Displays (OHMDs) allow users to read digital content while walking. A better understanding of how users allocate attention between these two tasks is crucial for improving OHMD interfaces. This paper introduces a computational model for simulating users' attention switches between reading and walking. We model users' decision to deploy visual attention as a hierarchical reinforcement learning problem, wherein a supervisory controller optimizes attention allocation while considering both reading activity and walking safety. Our model simulates the control of eye movements and locomotion as an adaptation to the given task priority, design of digital content, and walking speed. The model replicates key multitasking behaviors during OHMD reading while walking, including attention switches, changes in reading and walking speeds, and reading resumptions. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s)

Email authentication is of the utmost importance in maintaining the reliability and quality of email communication, specifically in database management and bulk email marketing. The centerpiece of the project is the development of an Email Validator Dashboard, which is a very user-friendly functionality filled with other useful parts that guarantee the accurate verification of email addresses. The dashboard really presents valuable inputs quickly in terms of deliverability, risk factors, and domain reliability due to its dynamic visualization along with real-time email validation procedures. The project's structure is such that the users get real-time data in the form of interactive charts and graphs, which make them see the transformations occurring as validation is going on, thus distinguishing it from the traditional tools. It comes with cutting-edge back-end data integrity validation processes, such as mailbox verification, domain DNS checks, and syntax verification, alongside powerful analytics. The main question this paper addresses is: What combination of a robot controller and a learning method should be used, if the morphology of the learning robot is not known in advance? Our interest is rooted in the context of morphologically evolving modular robots, but the question is also relevant in general, for system designers interested in widely applicable solutions. We perform an experimental comparison of three controller-and-learner combinations: one approach where controllers are based on modelling animal locomotion (Central Pattern Generators, CPG) and the learner is an evolutionary algorithm, a completely different method using Reinforcement Learning (RL) with a neural network controller architecture, and a combination 'in-between' where controllers are neural networks and the learner is an evolutionary algorithm. We apply these three combinations to a test suite of modular robots and compare their efficacy, efficiency, and robustness. Surprisingly, the usual CPG-based and RL-based options are outperformed by the in-between combination that is more robust and efficient than the other two setups. © 2023 IEEE.

Satellite imagery offers extensive information that can be used for a variety of societal applications, from the number of buildings in a metropolis to the land cover types of a specific area. However, extracting such information is a difficult task. In the past, images were scanned manually by domain experts to extract features like buildings, infrastructure, and vegetation, which would take weeks or even months depending on the image size. To address this challenge, we trained our model using U-Net architecture, a deep learning model, because of its advantages in multiscale feature learning and faster processing. Data augmentation is done on the dataset in order to enhance the amount of data and prevent overfitting artificially. The trained model achieved an F1 score of 92% and an impressive precision score of 95%. This automated method can be scaled to large sets of data, reducing the need for human labeling. © 2024 Bharati Vidyapeeth, New Delhi.

Payment Channel Networks (PCNs) can significantly enhance the scalability of blockchain transactions without requiring major modifications to the underlying distributed ledger protocol. However, to enable efficient and secure payment routing over multiple channels, PCNs necessitate additional components: an onion routing protocol for anonymity and a locking mechanism to prevent race conditions. Unfortunately, these mechanisms can be exploited by malicious actors to launch flood and loot attacks. We investigate the impact of flood and loot attacks on networks that employ local knowledge-based routing algorithms. In these scenarios, malicious nodes can manipulate hash-locks to unfairly capitalize on the benefits of participating nodes. We specifically examine the effects of these attacks on three popular routing algorithms: Swift, Speedy Murmurs, and Silent Whispers. Our analysis employs metrics like attack gain, attack cost, and transaction ratio to assess the impact of the attacks. Our simulation-based results demonstrate that, even with a relatively small fraction of malicious nodes (between 0.66% and 3.3%), the average attack transaction ratio across all evaluated routing algorithms is a concerning 16.23%. © 2025 IEEE.

The composition and proportion parameters of temperature sensitive paint formulation are complex. The current methods have a long development cycle and low efficiency. We design a visual formulation design system for temperature sensitive paint, helps desingers use historical data to improve the efficiency of formulation design. TSPvis provides a visual formulation design function, implements the proportion decision of formulation based on decision tree, and recommends reference for ingredients proportion to the formulation designer. We use the DPC clustering algorithm to quickly obtain the radial basis center, and use the Adam algorithm to improve the weight calculation from the hidden layer to the output layer, to improve RBF neural network. TSPvis use this RBF as a model to predict performance of the formulation which designed before, and feeds back to the designer to improve the formulation designing of temperature sensitive paint. © 2023 IEEE.

In mobile ground-to-air (GA) propagation channels, the birth and death of multipath components (MPCs) are frequently observed, and the wide-sense stationary uncorrelated scattering (WSSUS) assumption does not always hold. Several methods exist for tracking the birth and death of MPCs, however, to the best of knowledge of authors, there is no existing literature that addresses the prediction of the lifespan of the MPCs in non-WSSUS GA propagation channels. In this work, we consider the GA channel as non-WSSUS and individual MPCs across receiver positions are represented as time series based on the Euclidean distance between channel parameters of the MPCs. These time series representations, referred to as path bins, are analyzed using a semi-Markov chain model. The channel parameter variations and dependencies between path bins are used to predict the lifespan of path bins using weighted sum method, machine learning classifiers, and deep neural networks. For comparison, the birth and death of path bins are also modeled using a Poisson distribution and a Markov chain. Simulation results demonstrate that deep neural networks offer highly accurate predictions for the lifespan (including death) of MPC path bins in the considered GA propagation scenario. © 2025 IEEE.

Cataracts, a prevalent eye condition impacting vision, demand accurate and prompt identification for effective risk reduction and blindness prevention. Traditional methods of cataract diagnosis rely heavily on manual examination by ophthalmologists, which can be time-consuming and subject to human error. With the advent of digital imaging technology, there is an opportunity to enhance the efficiency of cataract detection. The deep neural network models VGG19 and ResNet-50 are recommended in this paper for automatic cataract identification on digital camera images. To optimize network performance, adjustments to loss and activation functions were made, incorporating minimal kernels, reduced training parameters, and layers. This resulted in a ResNet-50 model with significantly decreased computational cost and average operating time compared to the cutting-edge models. The proposed ResNet 50 model achieved an average accuracy of 93.41%, outperforming the VGG 19 model, which had an accuracy of 91.13%. This research contributes to the evolution of cataract detection methodologies, emphasizing the potential of deep learning models, particularly ResNet-50, in improving diagnostic accuracy and operational efficiency for enhanced eye health outcomes. © 2024 IEEE.

This study provides an innovative architectural model for e-Health systems that aims to improve cyber resilience while maintaining high availability under fluctuating traffic loads. We examined typical cybersecurity incidents in the field of e-Health, their correlations with architectural defects, and frequent design patterns in currently operational systems. A testing approach based on our research finds those weaknesses and proposes viable fixes. In this paper, a comprehensive support strategy for transitioning from conventional monolithic architectures to microservices is presented. This change makes use of cloud computing's vertical and horizontal scalability to maximize resource utilization while ensuring system reliability. We also discuss deployment ideas for the new microservices, focusing on operational resilience and cybersecurity in e-Health environments. © 2025, Politechnica University of Bucharest.
