Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) is a debilitating chronic pain disorder that significantly diminishes overall well-being, making diagnosis and therapy more challenging. The quick and precise categorization of TN severity is critical to therapy effectiveness. To assess the severity of TN, this study makes use of advanced machine learning techniques and explainable AI (XAI) approaches. We use a range of bagging and boosting strategies, including AdaBoost, Random Forest, Decision Tree, K-Nearest Neighbours (KNN), Gradient Boosting, and Logistic Regression. Random Forest was 95.2% accurate, whereas AdaBoost and Gradient Boosting were 92% and 97.2% in terms of their accuracy. The Decision Tree classifier obtained an accuracy of 84.62%, while K-Nearest Neighbours and Logistic Regression also achieved 92.31% accuracy. F1- score, precision, and recall metrics were used to assess performance on a dataset that included patient demographics and medical histories. XAI techniques, such as LIME and SHAP values, were used to improve the models' readability and transparency, which helped to progress the creation of cutting-edge diagnostic tools and increase clinician and researcher confidence. © 2024 IEEE.

The proposed work aims at 5G base station antenna communication applications. The Reconfigurable Antenna is built with an idea of parasitic loaded elements in antenna. The proposed design has a zig-zag S-shape structure with a driven Monopole antenna located along the central axis and a parasitic structure enfolding around the monopole. Reconfiguration is accomplished by adjusting the PIN diodes bias voltages. The 2.44-9.46 GHz frequency range i.e., the Ultra-Wide-Band frequency spectrum is used at which this reconfigurable antenna is designed to operate. This paper has three radiation pattern which are obtained by two PIN diodes. Beam-steering capability in the elevation plane is achieved i.e., θ (0°-180°). The outcome shows the design's potential and its wide range concurrent applications for base station antennas. © 2024 IEEE.

Re-identification has become a crucial issue in computer vision today as it allows for tracking objects in both continuous and discontinuous scenarios. Despite achieving perfect detection results, anchor-based trackers encountered difficulties in effectively learning re-identification features, due to various issues. This research proposes strategies aimed at improving the capability of anchor-based trackers to learn high-quality re-identification (re-ID) features. The model developed through our strategies can extract more distinct features and achieve almost 0.57 Multiple Object Tracking Accuracy (MOTA) on MOT20, even under a limited training dataset. This result indicates that our proposed strategies hold potential for improving the performance of anchor-based trackers. © 2024 IEEE.

This research investigates the feasibility of utilizing Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) in conjunction with Raspberry Pi-equipped Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) swarms. The primary objective is to overcome the limitations of traditional communication infrastructures in dynamic and decentralized environments. Specifically, we address the challenge of establishing reliable and efficient communication links within a swarm of UAVs engaged in various applications, including disaster response, military reconnaissance, and environmental monitoring. By integrating Raspberry Pi devices with UAVs, we aim to create a self-organizing communication network that enables seamless data transmission, coordinated swarm operations, and enhanced mission effectiveness. The research explores different synchronization strategies, including master-slave and decentralized approaches, to optimize swarm coordination. Furthermore, we investigate the potential of incorporating advanced technologies such as machine learning, computer vision, and swarm intelligence to further enhance the autonomy, adaptability, and overall performance of the UAV swarm. © 2025 IEEE.

Dementia is considered a Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), representing a blurred transition from normal cognitive function to dementia. MCI might be a precursor to dementia being caused by various neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, stroke, metabolic disorders, and mental health conditions. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 55 million people worldwide are suffering from dementia, with nearly 10 million new cases each year. This number is expected to rise to 78 million by 2030. Numerous studies have proposed various training methods targeting specific cognitive domains in dementia. For instance, reminiscence therapy encourages individuals to recall buried memories, while reality orientation therapy focuses on strengthening orientation cues to help patients with dementia establish a stronger sense of control. With aging, changes occur in cognitive and physical functions. Research suggests that memory functions can be improved through training. Therefore, the primary goal of this study was to develop an Extended Reality (XR) cognitive system to assist MCI patients in enhancing logical thinking, increasing independence in daily life, and improving response accuracy. The application of extended reality technology in the medical field is expanding, covering areas such as surgical assistance, medical consultation, disease treatment, and medical training. We integrated mixed reality devices with brain-computer interface (BCI) equipment. By detecting brainwave signals in the frontal region of the brain through sensors, neural activity was quantified, and digital brainwave data was transmitted to the system. This data was then visualized on screen in real-time to analyze changes in brainwave data during training. Through multifaceted task training, the system enhanced cognitive response and sensory perception, stimulating brain activity with the goal of strengthening cognitive functions. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent decades, power generation from PV systems has become increasingly popular. However, several environmental variables, such as dust deposition on PV panels, have significantly reduced PV energy production. Several approaches are under investigation to identify dust and decrease power loss. These include thermal imaging, image processing, sensors, and IoT devices, machine learning, and deep learning. The orientation of a solar panel and the angular inclination relative to the horizontal plane affect one of the environmental factors that impact its performance: since they have an impact on how much solar energy that enters into the photovoltaic panel's surface. Dust, for one, is another example of environmental factors: the quantity of energy output can be influenced by coming into contact with dust. Dust particles lying on the panel's surface have the potential to reduce light from reaching the solar modules, which would drastically reduces the energy output. Cleaning or reducing modules is critical, but these procedures must be continuously monitored and assessed for their effects. Image processing algorithms can be used to detect dust to optimize solar panels. In this paper, a novel dataset from Kaggle comprising images of dusty and clean solar panels is presented, aiming to facilitate the research on automated dust detection algorithms. The dataset is utilized to evaluate the performance of existing state-of-the-art (SOTA) image classification methods. Subsequently, a new Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architecture, ResNet-50 with an additional attention mechanism, is proposed, specifically designed for solar panel dust detection. The experimental results shows that the proposed method outperforms other SOTA algorithms, achieving an accuracy level of 96.2%. © 2024 IEEE.

Fuzzy-rule-decided small cell offloading for rate-adaptive SVC-DASH video streaming over the vehicle environment

This paper proposed an SVC-DASH video streaming method over the vehicular environment based on the Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) architecture. For the streaming concern, a control scheme using the Segment-Set-based buffer-aware bitrate adaptation with the backward quality's increment control was proposed;for the mobility concern, a Small Cell Video Streaming Offloading (SC–VSO) control scheme adopting the multiple attribute fuzzy-based decision for deciding whether it can offload the video streaming traffic from a macro cell to a small cell or not was proposed. To have the suitable bitrate adaptation and stable quality variation, three factors that the proposed streaming control scheme considers are (i) estimated bandwidth, (ii) buffer occupancy and (iii) quality variation. Since the vehicle is moving across many types of Base Stations (BSs), the proposed mobility control scheme can decide whether to have SC-VSO or not before vehicle X entering into the ahead small cell's signal coverage based on (i) the network situations of the corresponding macro and small cell and (ii) the reported context from vehicle X using the proposed fuzzy logic mechanism. The performance evaluation results shown that the proposed method has the higher video quality and better quality stability for video streaming over the vehicle environment. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.

The need for intelligent traffic management solutions is crucial in the rapidly evolving fields of autonomous traffic control and navigation systems, particularly for minimizing traffic accidents and ensuring the efficient operation of traffic signals. Improving traffic safety is of paramount importance, as road accidents claim over a million lives annually worldwide, with a significant proportion of these fatalities occurring in developing countries like Bangladesh. This research aims to develop a smart assistant capable of identifying and categorizing traffic signs to enhance road safety, especially in areas where drivers may not be fully aware of traffic regulations. To achieve this, we generated a comprehensive dataset containing 5,540 distinct images of traffic signs collected from various regions across Bangladesh, including highways, rural and urban roads, and challenging locations such as steep curves. The dataset comprises 41 categories of traffic signs. The dataset includes challenges such as color variations, blurriness, occlusion, small sign sizes, and low-light conditions. To further enhance the dataset's diversity, data augmentation techniques such as random rotations, shearing, and zooming were applied. We trained the YOLOv8 deep learning model, renowned for its real-time object detection capabilities, on this dataset. The model achieved impressive results, with a mean Average Precision (mAP) of 0.80, a recall of 0.87, a precision of 0.92, and an F1 score of 0.89, demonstrating its effectiveness in real-world traffic sign detection and classification. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates the impact of early reviews on product sales by analyzing the traits of initial reviewers on major e-commerce platforms. It segments product life-cycles into three phases: early, majority, and laggards, focusing on early reviewers who post reviews during the initial stages. The paper introduces an innovative interface for sentiment analysis to identify and predict early reviewers. Quantitative analysis reveals that early reviewers often provide more insightful comments and give higher overall ratings. Their ratings and helpfulness scores significantly affect product popularity. The methodology, tested on extensive datasets from Amazon and Yelp, extracts crucial attributes of early reviewers, including purchasing patterns and social impact. The interface employs a hybrid machine learning approach combining Naive Bayes, margin-based embedding ranking models (MERM), and support vector machines (SVMs) to predict potential early reviewers accurately. This approach balances probabilistic reasoning with robust classification, ensuring comprehensive forecasting. Evaluation metrics such as precision and accuracy demonstrate the effectiveness of the models over baseline methods. Furthermore, the study enhances the understanding of how early reviews influence consumer behavior and product success in e-commerce. The interface aids in refining product marketing strategies by enabling precise targeting of early reviewers, accelerating product adoption, amplifying sales, and optimizing marketing tactics in the competitive e-commerce landscape. © 2024 IEEE.
