This paper presents the results of 44 well known memory tests applied to 1896 1M*4 DRAM chips, using up to 96 different stress combinations with each test. The results show the importance of selecting the right stress combination, and that the theoretically better tests (i.e. those covering different functional faults) also have a higher fault coverage. However the currently used fault models still leave much to be explained; e.g., the used data backgrounds and address orders show an unexplainable large variation in fault coverage.

This paper presents a powerful method for distribution systems analysis. The algorithm developed is based on a robust power flow method using a multi-port Thevenin equivalent circuit technique and basic formulation of Kirchhoff's laws. This algorithm is implemented with an efficient method to store the network topology using trees and linked lists data structures. The program for this power flow technique was developed on an IBM compatible PC using Turbo-Pascal and successfully applied to several real distribution networks.

This paper proposes a novel fuzzy-neural network for chattering free sliding mode control. Firstly, soft computing which is the fusion or combination of fuzzy systems, neural networks and genetic algorithms is studied. Then, by taking advantages of fuzzy systems and neural networks a novel fuzzy-neural network with a general parameter learning algorithm and system structure determination is developed. The network is based on a local basis function network. The general parameter method (GP) is based on GMDH (group methods of data handling). The GP is used for a learning algorithm and the structure determination of the developed fuzzy neural network. As the resulting network needs only fuzzy inference computation with GP calculations, which is, generally speaking, the combination of soft and hard computing, called computational intelligence, is suitable to solve nonlinear problems, it especially needs a little computation time. Therefore, it is easy to implement with a HITACHI RISC+DSP microprocessor fast enough for real time operations. The developed signal processor is self-organizing, self-tuning and automated designed. In order to confirm the feasibility of fault diagnosis performance by the developed network, it is applied to chattering free sliding mode control. It is found that the developed method is suitable to other nonlinear control methods.

Field-programmable logic (FPL) densities and performance have steadily improved, allowing DSP solutions to be integrated on a single FPL chip. The primary limitation of FPLs, in DSP-centric applications, is their intrinsically weak arithmetic performance compared to DSP microprocessors and ASICs. In some cases, distributed arithmetic (DA) has been used to mask FPL arithmetic inadequacies. The Residue Number System (RNS) has demonstrated an ability to support high-bandwidth arithmetic with limited resources. This paper presents a methodology for merging distributed arithmetic with the residue number systems to achieve high-performance FPL solutions.

Real-time path planning is a key subject in the research of a Multi-robot system, such as in soccer robot system, as in such system there are several robots to coordinate to complete one task and its workspace is time-varying. There exist unpredictable changes in such workspace. These changes will make the robots path planning tremendously hard. This paper introduce the study on the real-time planning of a multi-robot system, such as soccer robots system. In such systems, as there exist multiple mobile robots, robots path planning is highly required of real-time and of high path planning quality. In this paper, the definitions of Active Obstacle and Dominating Robot are put forward. Genetic-planning and Fuzzy-correction are developed as our path planning techniques. The concept of Sector Vital Value is proposed for Genetic-planning and Fuzzy-correction. Block-Inserting strategy is employed to further improve the system's real-time performance in the workspace modelization. It takes only 2% of workspace modeling time required by Grid-modeling technique. After taking the proposed measures, the system's real-time performance is improved a lot. The initial simulation shows that our planning strategy can meet real-time demand.

Recent advances in Kerr electro-optic measurement theory resulted in various promising algorithms that can reconstruct the electric field and/or space charge density from optical data. In particular the finite element based Kerr electro-optic reconstruction algorithm (FEBKER) calculates the space charge density directly to avoid the numerical problems associated with taking the gradient of the electric field, uses single parameter intensity measurements to enable transient analysis which otherwise is difficult since multiple parameter intensity measurements is slow due to the rotation of polarizers, and is capable of reconstruction even when the number of measurements are limited by the window size of the experimental set-up. In this paper we apply FEBKER to synthetic Kerr electro-optic data obtained for a point/plane electrode geometry in transformer oil with a specified space charge density distribution. The performance of the algorithm is tested. The impact of experimental error is analyzed by incorporating random error to the synthetic data. Regularization techniques that decrease the impact of experimental noise are applied.
