Hazardous sounds represent a particular type of danger signal and should be heard clearly to ensure safety. Hearing-impaired people can be involved in accidents. This is exacerbated by the fact that they may have difficulty hearing hazardous sounds. Therefore, they spend time with a hearing-assistance dog in their daily lives. However, the number of hearing-assistance dogs has decreased recently, and they are less known in society and they may even be prevented from entering public facilities. Therefore, an animal external ear model-based mobile device that can detect hazardous sounds has been proposed. This device can alert the hearing-impaired person. In this paper, the animal external attachment with a human- and a cat-external ear model-verified for hazardous sound detection accuracy by microphone sensor is presented. Microphone sensors with and without a human- and a cat-external ear model are used. An ambulance siren and a bicycle bell are used as the hazardous sounds, and the spectral envelopes of each recorded sound are compared. The results show that the animal external ear model-based microphone sensor can more effectively detect the frequency features of the ambulance siren and the bicycle bell. A microphone sensor attached an external attachment with a human-external ear model can detect 2 ∼ 3 kHz frequency features with the highest sound pressure compared to the other microphones, regardless of the distance between the microphone sensor and the sound source. Also, a microphone sensor attached an external attachment with a cat-external ear model can detect wide range of frequencies with the highest sound pressure compared to the other microphone sensors, regardless of the distance between the microphone sensor and the sound source. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

This paper presents a novel approach for creating real-time, secure and interactable Digital Twins of industrial robots. This approach diverges from previous approaches that relied on Digital Twin Definition Language (DTDL). The proposed method uses Robotics Operating systems (ROS) and the Unity Game Engine to build the Digital Twins. The prototype built to showcase this approach comprises 4 sub-systems namely Data Acquisition sub-system, Cloud sub-system, Digital Client sub-system, and Remote-Control sub-system. The methodology focuses on real-time data synchronization using cloud-based communication services like loT servers. There are also multiple security measures employed to secure the data- like passing data through proxy and end-to-end encryption of data. The prototype made using Niryo Ned 2 Robot and a Raspberry Pi 3b+ showcases accurate physical-Digital Twin and effective remote control. Key findings highlight the system's ability to overcome latency, security and data accuracy, which in turn helps improve human-robot collaboration and interactions. This research contributes to the Digital Twin field by providing a modular and scalable framework that can be adapted for various robots and systems. This paper not only provides the general idea for implementation and problems faced during development but also suggests pathways for future work, like - optimization of message rates, integration of machine learning for maintenance and other purposes.

An IoT-based system of feeding and drinking for pet dogs will be described in this paper. Regular feeding and drinking become a problem when pet owners are not at home or near their pets. Feeding and drinking equipment combined with IoT technology can answer this problem. In this research, the IoT system created an IoT-based system with remote control and monitoring to make it easier for animal owners to provide pet food and drink via smartphone devices. The pets referred to in this research are dogs. This system consists of two main functions, namely feeding and drinking. Each of these functions can operate manually and automatically. In addition to these two functions, there is an extension function, namely weighing food. Automatic feeding and drinking can operate according to a schedule designed using the RTC sensor DS2321 and manually via the Blynk Android app. Load cell sensor to measure the weight of food in the food container and ultrasonic sensor to measure food residue and drinking water in the container. The results of weighing food and measuring food and drinking waste are monitored through a smartphone application. Based on the test results, the results show that the tool can work according to the design function. The measurement results using the load cell sensor have an accuracy of 98% in weighing food weight compared to the reference results from the reference scales. The overall test results show that the system works well by providing manual input by the animal owner and automatically based on the RTC sensor. With this result, pet owners can leave their animals without worrying because they can monitor the animal's feeding and drinking schedule via their smartphones. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper presents extension of the symmetrical components network model to the three-phase in a simulation engine, which is used in the MODES program and in the dispatch training simulator DTS. This extension allows to model network asymmetries in both the fault-free state and faulted operation, even to simulate contemporary multiple asymmetric short-circuit faults. The extended model can be used both for analytical calculations (such as setting protections) and for training dispatchers in solving faults in the distribution. The reliability of the created model is verified using a test system by comparing simulation results with another program that allow three-phase calculation. The test system is topological simple, but it contains several components important for model testing – e.g. arc suppression coil automatic tracking and directional earth fault relay. © 2022 Technical University of Košice.

Optical speed sensors based on the spatial frequency filter method are a proven technology that offer high measurement accuracy over a wide speed range. Newly developed variants also enable measurements at very low speeds and increase the robustness of the method [1]. This makes the sensor very suitable for use in the area of functional safety. A measurement chain up to safety integrity level 3 (SIL3) should be feasible via a combination with a safety system on a chip (SoC) for evaluating the measurement data and an extension of the sensor module to include safety-related elements [2], [3]. By integrating the sensor at IC level, a compact overall solution is to be made possible. After the first successful tests with the safety SoC, further examinations of the measuring method with regard to functional safety are now necessary. © 2023 IEEE.

When integrating large-scale photovoltaic systems with the power grid, variability and intermittency of photovoltaic power may potentially endanger the secure and stable operation of the power system as well as its scheduling management. So a new photovoltaic power prediction method using logistic chaotic mapping (LCM) improving atomic search optimization algorithm (ASO) to optimize back propagation neural network (LCM-ASO-BPNN) is proposed to solve this problem. The ASO algorithm is used to solve the defect that BPNN is likely to be trapped in a local optimum, and the initial population of the ASO algorithm is optimized by introducing logistic chaotic mapping, subsequently, the model's predictive accuracy is greatly enhanced. The experimental results demonstrate a significant improvement in the prediction accuracy of the proposed model when compared with the traditional prediction model. © 2023 IEEE.

The paper presents a system for infrared energy harvesting. The system consists of two antennas. One antenna works at the near-infrared (1um wavelength) and accepts power from solar radiation. The estimated accepted power is higher than that can be received by conventional solar cells. The other antenna accepts power radiated from the earth's surface at a wavelength of 10 um. The estimated received power reaches 250 watts per square meter when the antenna gains 3 dB.

A reasonable charging station layout can not only alleviate the difficult problem of electric vehicle (EV) charging, but also balance the grid pressure and ensure the safety of electricity consumption. In this paper, the sparrow search algorithm (SSA) is used to optimize the charging station siting process and obtain suitable charging station siting results. This can meet the needs of customers, lower the cost of building charging stations, and have the least negative effects on the electrical system. The experiment results show the SSA has the best capacity to search globally and the fastest convergence speed compared with the genetic algorithm (GA) and moth-flame optimization algorithm (MFO). © 2023 IEEE.

The research aim is to derive connection between the parameters of dielectric resonators frequency shift and the warp defect of 3D printing filament. Object of investigation are the processes of interaction of electromagnetic wave of a dielectric resonator with filament for 3D printing. We address the problem of the beam split (B-SP) caused by the spatial wideband (SW) effect in intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) aided wideband systems. The SW effect arises when the signal delay across the IRS aperture is comparable to the system sampling time. This leads to a B-SP, wherein the IRS phase shifters fail to form a beam at the desired user equipment (UE) over the complete bandwidth (BW) allotted to that UE, in turn reducing the system throughput. This paper proposes a distributed IRS design that aids in naturally combating the SW/BSP effects by parallelizing the spatial delays across the multiple IRSs. Specifically, we propose to split a single large IRS into multiple smaller IRSs and distribute them over the geographical area. Then, by specifying the maximum permissible number of elements at each IRS, we ensure that the B-SP remains within a specified tolerance level. Finally, we derive the sum-rate and show that the proposed solution yields a nonzero rate over the whole BW of operation and circumvents the SW/B-SP effects. We verify our findings numerically and illustrate the low complexity of the proposed method compared to state-of-the-art techniques.
