Micro expressions are fleeting emotional expressions that manifest within a brief time frame, often characterized by subtle facial muscle movements. Despite their brevity and imperceptibility to the naked eyes, these micro expressions encapsulate valuable emotional cues. The objective of micro expression recognition is to leverage AI technology to effectively detect and analyze these nuanced facial changes, thereby enhancing our ability to gain deeper insights into an individual’s underlying emotional state. In this paper, we introduce an approach featuring a three-layer 3D-CNN architecture combined with GRU. Experimental results demonstrate that our method yields favorable outcomes despite its relatively straightforward architecture.

Accurate classification of medicinal plants, particularly those that are threatened, rare, or endangered, is crucial for biodiversity conservation and sustainable use. This study introduces a robust ensemble-based classification model that integrates various architectures, including EfficientNet-B7, ConvNeXt, NasNet, and XceptionNet. Data augmentation with normalization enabled a training process using 4,500 high-resolution leaf images from a balanced dataset while helping achieve improved performance metrics. Transparent insight into model decisions became possible through our integration of Explainable AI (XAI) techniques which provided interpretable information about how the model reached its output. This transparency enables researchers and conservationists to better understand the system’s outputs. The ensemble model achieved an impressive accuracy of 99.29%, surpassing the performance of individual models and demonstrating strong generalization capabilities. We also built a real-time web application that delivers useful biodiversity monitoring solutions and helps assess species for pharmaceutical research and conservation initiatives. The study demonstrates AI-driven potentials through its analysis but it reveals two main challenges including dataset scope boundaries and high computational costs of modeling. Developments in future research will concentrate on enhancing database size along with computational strategies to enable mobile applications as field identification tools. This research has developed a flexible and dependable system which unites artificial intelligence investigation with practical environmental protection necessities.

Motion of the eye generates an electrical potential difference between the cornea and retina. This signal, known as the Electrooculogram (EOG), is unique and characteristic of eye movements. This can be leveraged for noninvasive eye-tracking. Although the accuracy of this procedure decreases as the number of ocular motions increases, it is crucial for enabling more complex tasks in the Human-computer Interaction (HCI) field. The performance further deteriorates when the motion classification is constrained within a single EOG cycle. This is imperative and significant for real-time practical applications. In this experimental study, (i) we have addressed the complexities in working with real-time single cycle EOG signals and provided necessary solutions (ii) worked with nine distinct eye movements, and (iii) proposed a cascaded Artificial Neural Network (ANN) approach to classify nine different eye movements based on single-cycle EOG signal data. Leveraging statistical properties and dominant frequency analysis of the EOG signals, our approach achieved an accuracy of 99.26%, precision of 99.26%, recall of 99.32%, and a F1-score of 99.25%. This is a significant improvement over past studies conducted by various researchers for similar purposes and to the knowledge of the authors, such high-performance metrics over this wide range of eye movements based on single-cycle EOG signals have not been previously reported.

The field of computer vision is rapidly evolving. Pictures and videos can be obtained and processed to model, duplicate, and occasionally introduce additional visuals to complete valuable tasks. This Paper outlines a method for gathering, refining, and comprehending video and images. In the future, computer vision will be used in a wide range of products and services, including cameras, movies, smartphones, drones, and much more. Video sequences, multiple camera views, multi-dimensional data from medical scanning, and 3D scanner devices can all be used to represent various types of image data. the purpose of this paper is to analyze the role of computer vision for graphics and animations in order to analyze the role perception of virtual machine and computer animation and vision has been studied in detail. Multidimensional data, video sequences, and multiple camera images from a medical scanner are all examples of image data. The goal of computer vision as a technological discipline is to create computer viewing devices using its models and theories.

Existing methods for synthesizing reflection removal datasets meticulously account for various factors, including diverse glass properties (e.g., thickness, color, direction), the processing of reflection images (e.g., Gaussian noise, smoothness, intensity), and the weighting between transmission (T) and reflection (R) images. However, these approaches overlook the distinction between day and night reflections and the significant influence of the distance between the photographer and the glass on the reflection image. Therefore, we propose to incorporate considerations of distance, lighting conditions (day and night), and combined absorption effects into the synthetic dataset generation process to produce a reflection dataset that closely resembles real-world scenarios. Moreover, creating a nighttime reflection dataset poses greater challenges than its daytime counterpart. We aim to demonstrate the applicability and address the challenges of our proposed synthetic dataset through an approach that integrates absorption effects.

This study concentrates on a potential strategy for improving Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) segmentation in CT imaging. The study's dataset included 19 CT images of healthy AAAs acquired from different patients. Ground-truth segmentations that matched the training data were also included. For enhanced accuracy while segmenting AAA, the suggested technique integrates pre-processing, deep learning segmentation, and post-processing into a cohesive workflow. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are trained for deep learning segmentation using a U-Net architecture, and noise in input pictures is removed during pre-processing. This differs from the conventional habit of employing linear regression for image segmentation. The results were measured using the dice similarity coefficient, sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, recall, and F1 score. With a DSC of 0.81, sensitivity of 0.89, specificity of 0.97, accuracy of 0.86, recall of 0.89, and F1 score of 0.86, the suggested approach was proven to be successful in segmenting AAAs in CT images. The technique has shown potential in clinical settings for improving AAA diagnosis and treatment planning. © 2023 IEEE.

Metamaterials have gained significant interest in antenna technology nowadays due to their exceptional features. This article presents metamaterial (MTM) based two new antennas with a vision to precisely enhance the number of bands and maintain a suitable bandwidth level. A sequential rise in band numbers from 2 to 4 and then to 5 is noticed by the applications of split-ring resonator (SRR) and complementary structure of dual negative metamaterial (dual NG-MTM) in a standard patch antenna. Initially, a dual NG-MTM was attached at the back of the patch antenna and it presented four separate bands at 2 GHz, 6.8 GHz, 9.1 GHz, and 9.6 GHz, respectively with comparatively larger bandwidth. At last, inclusion of an SRR takes the band-width to another level in addition to providing five bands and its electrical size is then compact as 0.22λ 0 × 0.19λ 0 × 0.0006λ 0 , with a ka (antenna size indicator) value of less than 1. These extraordinary features of the above-mentioned MTM antennas lead to promising applications including television broadcasting and 5G system.

In recent years, the popularity of biking, especially mountain biking, has surged, drawing enthusiasts seeking adventure and adrenaline amidst rugged landscapes. However, with this surge in popularity comes an increased awareness of the safety challenges inherent in the sport, particularly in remote or challenging terrains where traditional communication methods often fail to provide adequate support. Recognizing these challenges, the paper presents a LoRa-enabled wearable system tailored to enhance safety and coordination for mountain bikers, focusing on challenging terrain scenarios. By incorporating GPS functionality, the system delivers crucial information such as status updates and emergency notifications, thereby markedly elevating safety standards for riders. Furthermore, the project enables real-time communication in network-deficient areas, effectively surmounting communication hurdles posed by mountainous landscapes. Leveraging LoRa technology extends the communication range, guaranteeing uninterrupted connectivity and empowering bikers to traverse rugged terrains with heightened assurance and security.
