Online learning has been the center of the education systems around the world for approximately two years now. Since the COVID pandemic appeared, many nations have resorted to online learning formats in their schools and higher education institutes. Consequently, private tutoring in all education levels started to rise as students were trying to cope with the sudden changes in their courses. However, the effect of private tutoring is somewhat ambiguous due to the lack of feedback from students. This study presents an online survey on students' experiences with private tutoring in the higher education institutions in Jordan. A total of 107 students participated in this study from different academic levels. The results of the survey showed that 63% of participants believed that the online learning format in their courses was one of the reasons they went to private tutoring. However, nearly half of the sample did not believe that instructors played a role in them resorting to private tutoring. The results also showed that senior level students believed that private tutoring improved their academic standings. In fact, their answers were statistically significantly different than students from the other academic levels. The results also showed that students in the lower academic levels (freshmen, and sophomores) expressed their disappointment in the outcomes of private tutoring. © 2022 IEEE.

Currently, there is a growing interest in the topic of power quality across the entire electric power system. The power system is a complex network of modules with a broad distribution area, designed to meet the demand for electric power. The power system is susceptible to a range of disturbances arising from either dynamic consumer load behavior or faults. The power system necessitates a precise and advanced stability and protection mechanism. Ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the power system is a significant challenge, with voltage stability and fault protection being key areas of concern. The present research study proposes a technique to augment the stability of a grid-connected system that comprises of several generating sources through the utilization of FACTS devices, specifically static synchronous compensator (STATCOM). The technology has been designed to enable the monitoring of supervisory control of devices, while the distribution system offers decision-making tools to enhance system performance. A fault was generated between the time interval of 1-1.04 sec duration, and the simulation waveform was subsequently observed. The present study entails a simulation-based comparison between a power system without a STATCOM devise and one equipped with the STATCOM. The analysis results of the transient voltage stability of HV AC transmission lines utilizing STATCOM. © 2023 IEEE.

This work explores the deployment of active reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (A-RIS) in integrated terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks (TN-NTN) while utilizing coordinated multipoint non-orthogonal multiple access (CoMP-NOMA). Our system model incorporates a UAV-assisted RIS in coordination with a terrestrial RIS which aims for signal enhancement. We aim to maximize the sum rate for all users in the network using a custom hybrid proximal policy optimization (H-PPO) algorithm by optimizing the UAV trajectory, base station (BS) power allocation factors, active RIS amplification factor, and phase shift matrix. We integrate edge users into NOMA pairs to achieve diversity gain, further enhancing the overall experience for edge users. Exhaustive comparisons are made with passive RIS-assisted networks to demonstrate the superior efficacy of active RIS in terms of energy efficiency, outage probability, and network sum rate. Recently, research on lightweighting of Deep Neural Network(DNN) models suitable for embedded IoT devices and edge computing is rapidly increasing. One of the important points of lightweighting DNN is model parameter optimization. Parameter precision increases model accuracy, but also increases memory and processing overhead. In this paper, we developed a parameter bitwise adjustment framework of DNN models to analyze the correlation between model’s parameter precision and performance. The framework can set each bit of parameter value to 0, 1, or random in a specific range for DNN models. With the framework we measured the accuracy of the model while modifying the parameter values to 0 by step by step from LSB, for three representative CNN models. As a result, it was identified that the accuracy robustness for the range of valid parameters is different each other depending on the model.

Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)-based embedded systems have become mainstream in the last decade, often in security-sensitive applications. However, even with an authenticated hardware platform, compromised software can severely jeopardize the overall system security, making hardware protection insufficient if the software itself is malicious. In this paper, we propose a novel low-overhead hardware-software co-design solution that utilizes Physical Unclonable Functions (PUFs) to ensure the authenticity of program binaries for microprocessors/microcontrollers mapped on the FPGA. Our technique binds a program binary to a specific target FPGA through a PUF signature, performs runtime authentication for the program binary, and allows execution of the binary only after successful authentication. The proposed scheme is platform-agnostic and capable of operating in a "bare metal" mode (no system software requirement) for maximum flexibility. Our scheme also does not require any modification of the original hardware design or program binary. We demonstrate a successful prototype implementation using the open-source PicoBlaze microcontroller on AMD/Xilinx FPGA, comparing its hardware resource footprint and performance with other existing solutions of a similar nature. A novel mm-Wave multiband microstrip patch antenna for 5G wireless communication is designed and presented in this paper. The proposed design is an H-shaped with inset feed and a rectangular slit in the upper side of the radiating patch. The 5G mm-Wave antenna resonates at frequencies of 23.2, 40.3, 59.3, 86.9 and 104.3 GHz with a maximum bandwidth of 1.1, 2.8, 18.1, 7.7 and 10.7 GHz respectively. The antenna has sufficient realized gains of 6.4882, 7.1198, 7.9062, 8.1804 and 9.8156 dBi at the resonant frequencies respectively. Furthermore, the antenna covers the most interest 5G mm-Wave spectrum with a total bandwidth of 40.4 GHz. The proposed multiband antenna is designed using microstrip technology with features such as light weight, low cost, low profile, high gain and efficiency. The 5G antenna is designed using a high frequency structure simulator software (HFSS). It has a small form factor of 7.5 × 8.5 × 0.55 mm3. The antenna is compact enough to incorporate into smart devices and used for various 5G applications. © 2021 IEEE.

One of the greatest significant and fastest-growing financial sectors of India’s agriculture industry at the moment is poultry. Chicken output has been steadily rising globally due to superior manufacturing processes and uniform farming management. Automation is essential in today’s environment, and the Internet of Things (IoT) is a rapidly developing idea. Traditional systems are being transformed into automated systems. The project’s main goal is to automate chicken farms by utilizing Internet of Things technology to carry out several management-related tasks. This study examines how a poultry farm’s environmental factors, similar to humidity, temperature, and ammonia gas, are automatically observed and managed to promote chicken growth. The water position is also controlled and covered with the help of a detector module. All detector values are acquired by connecting all the detector modules to the microcontroller, and also, using the WIFI module, they will be uploaded to the webpage. Being in the care of the loud ranch can get the inner eco-friendly condition over a PC using the internet. This system will control temperature, moisture, ammonia gas and water situation with the help of a cooling addict, exhaust addict, ventilation window and DC motor without any moral interface. Grounded on the threshold values, it’ll switch on the bias. therefore, this system design provides automated flesh, reduces the pool, and increases the product of healthy cravens.

Standard practice for the classification of Microscopic Colitis (MC) as dictated by European guidelines instructs for a complete colonoscopy opposed to the less invasive, but historically inaccurate flexible sigmoidoscopy. A recent study conducted by researchers at Gunderson Health system sought to analyze historical data of patients diagnosed with MC to determine if a complete colonoscopy truly is required to make a diagnosis, or if a flexible sigmoidoscopy would suffice. The results of the study indicated that analysis of patient data obtained through flexible sigmoidoscopy alone provided inaccurate rates of classification of MC. The researchers concluded the results of the study further reinforced European guidelines of performing a complete colonoscopy for the classification of MC. In this work multi-class classification machine learning models are explored to differentiate subtypes of MC on medical data obtained through flexible sigmoidoscopy at Gunderson Health system. The results of the study show that Machine Learning (ML) algorithms have the potential to automate the classification of the traditionally difficult to diagnose disease, MC.

The inherent dynamism of Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs), distinguished by rapid movement and frequent changes in network structure, imposes substantial obstacles in effective route management and optimization. The use of Software Defined Networking (SDN) in VANETs enables a centralized control mechanism that provides flexibility and adaptability in the administration of the network. The SDN Controller in SDN is responsible for route determination. There are many factors like the distance between vehicles, movement direction, connection duration, data transfer rate, speed, and vehicle data transmission range that are involved to determine the route. This study introduces an innovative decision support model for Software Defined Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (SD-VANETs) that use the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) to improve the route determination which further enhances the VANETs routing. The model estimates the relative importance of the factors to decide the route by the SDN controller in Sd-VANETs. This work enhances the progress of intelligent routing solutions in VANETs, providing a scalable and efficient way for future ITS advancements.
