Modern power systems are facing significant challenges due to the massive penetration of renewable energy sources (RES). Recently, issues related to frequency security, system strength, and excessive fault levels have been experienced in some power systems. Classical dynamic security assessment (DSA) tools have not been developed to identify and analyze these new challenges that are critical in low-inertia grids. In this paper, a DSA tool has been developed that evaluates frequency security, system strength, and maximum fault levels to allow for secure system planning and operation. Furthermore, to increase the accuracy of the DSA tool, inverter-based resources’ (IBRs’) protections and capabilities have been incorporated in the DSA tool. A real-time operation and an operational planning application of the DSA tool are showcased using the islanded Cyprus Power system.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are currently being used in various domains and are the current big revolution. The use of autonomous UAVs is even promising for providing new opportunities. Various applications such as surveying, monitoring, search & rescue operations, and delivery would be beneficial if it is done autonomously without human interference. The performance can also be enhanced if a swarm of autonomous UAVs is used. For each and every UAV to contribute effectively and to reduce the task level complexity of individual UAVs the concept of self-organization could be incorporated into the swarm. Self-organization is an individual UAV performing a simple task without any knowledge of the overall goal but indirectly helping to achieve the overall goal. In this paper, a generalized algorithm to scan or survey a particular field for a swarm of UAVs is proposed. The UAVs will perform their tasks in a self-organized manner autonomously. The proposed algorithm is implemented in python and simulated using webots. The algorithm is tested for various scenarios and it is proven to effectively survey the given field.

Personality assessment has been widely used in the professional psychology and signal processing fields. Recently, it has been a great interest from the computer vision research community in assessing personality from visual data. Many state-of-the-art models are assigned the Big-Five personality indicators using either external judges or personal interviews. We propose Face Features-based Personality Assessment (FFPA) that assesses the personality of a person based on one's facial features. It maps facial appearance into the Big-Five personality indicators, namely Extraversion, Agreeableness Conscientiousness, Neuroticism and Openness. The geometry-based and appearance-based approaches are used to extract features from the face and mapped to the personality indicators using Partial Least Square Regression (PLSR). The corresponding personality indicator values are collected by filling the online form of the Big-Five personality assessor. The computational experiments are performed on a synthetic dataset, consisting of the face images of 200 students. The majority of people around the world suffer from skin conditions at some point in their lives. These conditions need to be identified and treated as soon as possible in order to prevent complications and improve the outcome of the patient. Skin diseases can be difficult to diagnose, even for dermatologists who are experts in the field. In order to identify and classify skin diseases, a computer algorithm known as a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) can be used. Using CNN, artificial intelligence is able to learn from images and make predictions based on the information it gathers from them. In order to train CNN to classify skin conditions accurately, a large number of images of skin diseases can be used to train the CNN. This paper describes a method for classifying skin diseases using CNNs. As part of the training process, the system was taught a large collection of thermoscopic images, which show the distribution of heat patterns on the skin. As a result of this study, CNN was able to successfully classify different skin diseases with an accuracy of 90% in terms of validation, and 95% in terms of classification. In addition to dermatologists and primary care physicians, healthcare professionals can also use this system to make an accurate diagnosis of skin diseases by using this system. Furthermore, patients can use it as a means of identifying and understanding their skin conditions as well.

The Renewable Energy Sources (RES) penetration in the power system of Cyprus has dramatically increased over the last years. As a result, the system is already facing significant challenges limiting the RES hosting capacity of the Distribution Network (DN). The major limitation factors are network congestion and voltage security. In this paper, alternative solutions for increasing the RES hosting capacity in DNs are reviewed, and a methodology is introduced to evaluate their effectiveness. More specifically, different inverter settings and an advanced centralised voltage control from power transformers are used to mitigate voltage-related issues, while network reinforcements and upgrading the operating voltage are considered for further increase in hosting capacity. The solutions and evaluation methodology are tested using a real MV network of the Cyprus distribution system and the strategic plan of the Cyprus Distribution system Operator (DSO) for maximizing RES hosting capacity is outlined.

The Internet of Things is a developing technology that converts physical objects into virtual objects connected to the internet using wired and wireless network architecture. Use of cross-layer techniques in the internet of things is primarily driven by the high heterogeneity of hardware and software capabilities. Although traditional layered architecture has been effective for a while, cross-layer protocols have the potential to greatly improve a number of wireless network characteristics, including bandwidth and energy usage. Also, one of the main concerns with the internet of things is security, and machine learning (ML) techniques are thought to be the most cutting-edge and viable approach. This has led to a plethora of new research directions for tackling IoT's growing security issues. In the proposed study, a number of cross-layer approaches based on machine learning techniques that have been offered in the past to address issues and challenges brought on by the variety of IoT are in-dept. examined. Additionally, the main issues are mentioned and analyzed, including those related to scalability, interoperability, security, privacy, mobility, and energy utilization. © 2022 IEEE

Recommendation systems are information filtering mechanisms used in E-commerce, media and entertainment industry. It essentially facilitate the customers for a better user experience by processing the content user-specific. This is known as personalization. However, though leveraged by machine learning algorithms existing recommendation systems, still suffers from the problem of cold-start and sparcity. These problems could be resolved by using knowledge graphs since it gives a semantic explanation of recommendations. Also, graph learning method overcomes the problems of manual feature extraction and is effective for feature learning in predicting tasks. In this research, we develop a semantic based recommender through link prediction in a knowledge graph. We apply graph embedding techniques for extracting the semantics of explicable recommendations. The proposed method is validated by building a knowledge graph using the MovieLens dataset. We observed that factorization based scoring functions such as HolE and DistMult provides better semantic recommendations. © 2021 IEEE.

Soluble Solids Content (SSC) of kiwi fruit is an important internal quality attribute that influences its consumption quality and post-harvest shelf life. In this study, a non-invasive measurement and quantitative prediction of SSC indices in Hayward kiwi cultivars was conducted using hyperspectral imaging techniques. Hyperspectral images of 495 kiwi fruits were collected in reflectance mode between the wavelengths of 400 and 1000 nm. This study employed Partial Least Square Regression (PLSR) for calibration and prediction, combined with various preprocessing methods. Amongst, combination of SGS+MSC+PLS obtained better calibration and prediction outcomes, with ${\text{R}}_C^2 = 0.42$, RMSEP = 1.3023 and ${\text{R}}_P^2 = 0.31$, RMSEP = 1.3211 respectively. This study also looked at the feasibility of employing a Moving Window PLSR (MWPLSR) approach to find the best spectral interval and reduce the impact of multicollinearity in the spectral data. Then, MWPLSR approach delivered the best calibration and prediction values in a spectral region spanning 628-947 nm.

Curriculum changes have a significant impact on the field of education in Indonesia, especially in universities. This is because the curriculum is used as a means to achieve the goals of educational success as well as guidelines in the implementation of teaching at every level of education. This study aims to determine public sentiment regarding the implementation curriculum of independent learning (MBKM) through Twitter based on Naïve Bayes with Laplace Estimator. Tweet search results use the keywords “kurikulum mbkm” and “mbkm”. The data used in this study amounted to 2500 tweet data which will be divided into 2000 data as training data with details of 1000 positive tweets and 1000 negative tweets and 500 data as testing data. The results showed the performance of Naïve Bayes using Laplace Estimator which resulted in an accuracy value of 80.20%, precision value of 82.00%, and recall value of 79.00%. Meanwhile, the performance of Naïve Bayes without Laplace Estimator resulted in an accuracy value of 77.00%, precision value of 80.00%, and recall value of 74.00%. Naive Bayes with Laplace Estimator reached the highest value in all metrics.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been transformative in the healthcare sector, leading to enhanced precision in medical diagnosis, more effective treatment options, and a significant improvement in patient safety. However, computer-based administrative tasks, such as retrieval of medical and health records, patient registration, medical billing, filing and documentation, and appointment scheduling, still impose a heavy burden on healthcare professionals, causing a reduced quality of care and efficiency. In light of these challenges, this paper proposes a large language model (LLM)-based multi-agent framework designed to automate some of the administrative work in clinical settings. In our proposed solution, these LLM agents coordinate to parse instructions, breakdown tasks, and execute a sequence of actions in a workflow. They are equipped to not only execute documentation process at the database level but also operate directly on web-based electronic medical record (EMR) platforms. Moreover, the framework integrates data sources through a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) system to allow streamlined interaction with patient information and medical records, mediated through an agent interface. The framework is designed with security in mind to defend against malicious prompts. We demonstrate the practicality of our solution by testing on various complex tasks that require the use of multiple tools and an EMR website. The result show the framework's effectiveness in handling diverse healthcare administrative tasks.
