Impedance measurements collected using bipolar elec.rode configurations represent both tissue/elec.rode interface impedance and the impedance of tissues between elec.rodes. To evaluate how localized elec.rode/tissue interface conditions can impact measurements and their interpretation, elec.rical impedance of banana pulp samples with varying conditions of decaying tissue and elec.rode configurations were collected and compared. Changes in tissue impedance (represented as changes in the Cole-impedance model parameters) confirm that pulp samples with higher quantities of decaying tissue have lower resistance and higher peak frequency. Results support that while measurements are influenced by the localized elec.rode/tissue interface they are not dominated by them.

Having readily available corpora is crucial for performing replication, reproduction, extension, and verification studies of existing research tools and techniques. MAT-LAB/Simulink is a de-facto standard tool in several safety-critical industries for system modeling and analysis, compiling models to code, and deploying code to embedded hardware. There is no commonly used corpus for large-scale model change studies because there is no readily available corpus. EvoSL is the first large corpus of Simulink projects that includes model and project changes and allows redistribution. EvoSL is available under a permissive open-source license and contains its collection and analysis tools. Using a subset of EvoSL, we replicated a case study of model changes on a single closed-source industrial project. © 2023 IEEE.

We introduce three new multi-modal data sets. They contain physiological and/or emotional information about human interactions with robotic arms in proximity to completing a task in an industrial setting. The data sets provide data from human subjects eng.ged in the assistive task of assembling a PVC joint pipe with robots. These data streams were collected to analyze and improve the comfort and safety of humans collaborating with robots in proximity in an industrial setting. These data sets can appeal to researchers studying human-robot collaboration, robot adaptation, and affective computing. Our data is stored in various formats, including images and human-readable Comma-Separated Values (CSV) or JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) files. © 2023 IEEE.

We develop a novel generative model to simulate vehicle health and forecast faults, conditioned on practical operational considerations. The model, trained on data from the US Army's Predictive Logistics program, aims to support predictive maintenance. It forecasts faults far enough in advance to execute a maintenance intervention before a breakdown occurs. The model incorporates real-world factors that affect vehicle health. It also allows us to understand the vehicle's condition by analyzing operating data, and characterizing each vehicle into discrete states. Importantly, the model predicts the time to first fault with high accuracy. We compare its performance to other models and demonstrate its successful training.

Classifying white blood cells using combining different convolutional neural networks

White blood cells are warrior cells that protect the human body against external factors. Each of these warrior cells performs a distinct task, making every piece of information about them highly valuable in the medical field. In this article, a classification framework for the four known types of white blood cells is proposed. It is hoped that the classification of these types will contribute to the prediction of diseases such as AIDS, malaria, leukemia, and many others. In the proposed method, images of white blood cells from the Blood Cell Classification and Detection dataset were used as input to Convolutional Neural Networks. The feature vectors extracted using these Convolutional Neural Network architectures were combined into a single vector. A Minimum Redundancy Maximum Relevance algorithm was then employed to identify the most effective features within the feature vector. Experiments were conducted using these selec.ed features, and the analysis of each experiment was reported in detail. The Support Vector Machines classifier achieved an accuracy of 98.63% in classifying white blood cell types by combining features from multiple deep learning architectures. The experimental results demonstrated that the features obtained from different layers of the Convolutional Neural Networks had varying impacts on the classification performance. © The Author(s) 2025.

One recent method to approximate and physically implement fractional-order elements utilizes a fully-controllable immittance converter (FGIC). With this approach, external components are used with the FGIC to implement a target floating immittance value. This immittance can be fractional-order if at least one of the external components is a fractional-order element. Here, a fractional-order capacitor is approximated for use as the fractional-order element using an RC-network; designed specifically to meet the usable bandwidth (10 kHz to 1 MHz) of an FGIC44 (an integrated circuit realization of a floating immittance converter using operational-transconductance amplifiers).

IoTGazePass is a new password scheme that has been designed to tackle the weaknesses of existing types of passwords. It is intended to be suitable for IoT applications. An experiment was conducted to evaluate the streng.hs and weaknesses of the IoTGazePass scheme (e.g., security, usability and memorability). The evaluation aspects include a comparison with traditional textual and graphical based passwords in terms of memorability and security of the passwords. The results of the evaluation indicate that the IoTGazePass scheme is easy to use, memorable and flexible, as it can generate strong, secure and scalable passwords. The experiment results have also showed that the IoTGazePass scheme have good ability to deal with shoulder surfing attacks. In fact, the experiment results lead to some recommendations and suggestions to improve the planned performance. © 2022 IEEE.

VeriMind: Agentic LLM for Automated Verilog Generation with a Novel Evaluation Metric

Designing Verilog modules requires meticulous attention to correctness, efficiency, and adherence to design specifications. However, manually writing Verilog code remains a complex and time-consuming task that demands both expert knowledge and iterative refinement. Leveraging recent advancements in large language models (LLMs) and their structured text generation capabilities, we propose VeriMind, an agentic LLM framework for Verilog code generation that significantly automates and optimizes the synthesis process. Unlike traditional LLM-based code generators, VeriMind employs a structured reasoning approach: given a user-provided prompt describing design requirements, the system first formulates a detailed train of thought before the final Verilog code is generated. This multi-step methodology enhances interpretability, accuracy, and adaptability in hardware design. In addition, we introduce a novel evaluation metric—pass@ARC—which combines the conventional pass@k measure with Average Refinement Cycles (ARC) to capture both success rate and the efficiency of iterative refinement. Experimental results on diverse hardware design tasks demonstrated that our approach achieved up to 8.3% improvement on pass@k metric and 8.1% on pass@ARC metric. These findings underscore the transformative potential of agentic LLMs in automated hardware design, RTL development, and digital system synthesis. © 2025, CC BY-NC-SA.

Combating climate change and promoting environmental sustainability necessitate a dedicated emphasis on renewable energy sources and lowering carbon footprints. Shifting from fossil fuels to renewable resources, such as solar, wind, biomass, and geothermal energy, is imperative. Equally important is enhancing energy efficiency across industries, transportation, buildings, and household appliances to reduce overall energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Technological advancements, such as improved energy storage and smart grid systems, are essential for boosting the efficiency and dependability of renewable energy sources. Strategies to lower carbon footprints include transitioning to clean transportation, optimizing land use, reducing waste, recycling, promoting sustainable agriculture, and implementing carbon offset initiatives. Public education, corporate responsibility, and personal environmental awareness play vital roles in supporting carbon reduction. By combining sustainable energy practices with carbon reduction measures, we can collectively work towards curbing climate change and fostering a sustainable future. Additionally, utilized techniques to address the problem of high air pollution during vehicle cold starts. We modeled catalytic converter dynamics in MATLAB Simulink, using simplifying assumptions. One significant assumption involved treating the catalytic converter as a Continuous Stirred-Tank Reactor (CSTR), which allowed us to model its temperature uniformly, without accounting for temperature changes along its leng.h. This approach is aimed at saving lives and reducing costs by effectively minimizing air pollution. © 2025 IEEE.

For a secure communication, it enables the destination could successfully release the authentic information from the sender. At the meantime, a secure system protects the transmitted information from the eavesdroppers. Traditionally, the encryption, authorization and authentication schemes could be employed for protecting the eavesdroppers. However, the unexpected attacks have been continuously developed. It could not be avoided for the undesired attacks. According to Shannon's perfect communication, there exists an error-free cryptogram that could protect for the attacker. Hence, based on the secrecy rate, it is expected that the secure communication could be practical with physical-layer coding scheme. Besides, the coding scheme is not only to obtain a critical level of security, but also to achieve a lower decoding error. For a security concern, increasing the secrecy rate leads a higher level of security ability. However, it might suffer the system performance without bandwidth efficiency. Hence, the tradeoff between the security level and coding rate is important to lead a secure communication. © 2023 IEEE.
