Study on the Analysis and Reduction Method for AC Copper Loss in Electric Vehicle Traction Motor

The advancements in electrified drive systems have enabled the design of high-power density electric vehicle (EV) motors. However, the increased operating frequency necessary for achieving high-power density amplifies AC copper losses, primarily due to skin and proximity effects. This study focuses on reducing AC copper losses in an 8-pole, 48-slot Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) using 2D finite element analysis (FEA). The analysis evaluates the contributions of skin and proximity effects to total copper losses and investigates the influence of slot leakage flux. Additionally, the impact of slot and conductor geometries on leakage flux, its variation over time, and the resulting AC copper losses were systematically analyzed. By balancing manufacturability and performance, optimal design parameters were derived to minimize AC copper losses. The results demonstrate that adjustments in slot width, slot dept., and conductor placement significantly affect leakage flux and copper losses. The proposed design strategies improve motor efficiency and thermal performance under high-speed operating conditions, contributing to the development of high-performance EV motors. In the realm of robotics and autonomous systems, efficient path planning is a critical aspect for optimizing resource utilization and achieving mission objectives. This study explores the application of Ant Colony Optimized (ACO) algorithms to enhance the efficiency of robots in navigating and exploring unknown environments. Inspired by the foraging behavior of ants, ACO algorithms are employed to find the shortest paths by leveraging pheromone communication and decentralized decision-making. Ant Colony Optimization is then introduced as a bio-inspired solution to address these challenges. The experimental results demonstrate the capability of the ACO algorithm to efficiently explore complex environments, adapt to changes in the surroundings, and converge to optimal paths. Insights gained from these analyses contribute to the refinement of the ACO algorithm for diverse robotic applications. The findings of this research have practical implications for the development of autonomous robots operating in real-world scenarios, such as search and rescue missions, environmental monitoring, and surveillance. This study provides a valuable foundation for the integration of bio-inspired algorithms in robotics, advancing the state-of-the-art in autonomous exploration and path planning. © 2024 IEEE.

There has been a growing excitement that implicit graph generative models could be used to design or discover new molecules for medicine or material design. Because these molecules have not been discovered, they naturally lie in unexplored or scarcely supported regions of the distribution of known molecules. However, prior evaluation methods for implicit graph generative models have focused on validating statistics computed from the thick support (e.g., mean and variance of a graph property). Therefore, there is a mismatch between the goal of generating novel graphs and the evaluation methods. To address this evaluation gap, we design a novel evaluation method called Vertical Validation (VV) that systematically creates thin support regions during the train-test splitting procedure and then reweights generated samples so that they can be compared to the held-out test data. This procedure can be seen as a generalization of the standard train-test procedure except that the splits are dependent on sample features. We demonstrate that our method can be used to perform model selection if performance on thin support regions is the desired goal. As a side benefit, we also show that our approach can better detect overfitting as exemplified by memorization. © 2024 Proceedings of Machine Learning Research. All rights reserved.

Drowsiness, among drivers, plays a role in causing road accidents leading to loss of life, injuries, and financial setbacks. To address the issue of driver fatigue related accidents it is crucial to develop methods for detecting driver fatigue. This survey paper presents an overview of approaches used to identify driver fatigue. These approaches can be grouped into three categories: Behavioural, Vehicular and Physiological parameters. Behavioural parameters, such as eye closure percentage, blink rate patterns, yawning, head movements and facial expressions offer intrusive techniques that examine the physical state of the driver's body and provide information about their drowsiness level. Vehicular parameter-based techniques evaluate drowsiness by observing vehicle behaviour such as lane deviations, pedal usage, and unpredictable steering movements. Physiological indicators are also employed to detect tiredness. The paper also discusses the methodology employed in the research study including image processing techniques classifiers used and measurement metrics utilized, proposed methodology of fatigue detection with adding some extra features and Lastly the paper presents conclusions based on a study that can guide future researchers in identifying potential areas for further exploration in this field. © 2024 IEEE.

A critical first step in many applications, including augmented reality, document analysis, and scene comprehension, is text detection from images. Even though text identification for the English language has advanced significantly, there are particular difficulties when applying these methods to languages such as Bengali because of variations in script, morphology, and typographic characteristics. This article offers a wonderful method for leveraging the Faster R-CNN framework to identify and categorize text from images that contain Bengali and English sentences. The study utilizes a dataset named "Bengali and English text image dataset (BETID)"that consists of images with text in both Bengali and English scripts, taken from a variety of sources such as books, documents, natural scenes, internet images, and landscapes. Pre-processing methods are used to improve the resilience and generalization of the model, including image scaling, normalization, and augmentation. The Faster R-CNN architecture is tuned and trained to identify text regions in images and categorize Bengali or English text. The performance of the text Classification model is evaluated using evaluation measures such as accuracy on the BETID dataset. The proposed Faster R-CNN model achieved an average of 97.90% accuracy, which is better than other deep learning models. Empirical findings showcase the capacity of transfer learning to alleviate data scarcity concerns and enhance text detection precision for low-resource languages such as Bengali.) © 2024 IEEE.

This study uses a novel method of segmenting and computing the tissue area in brain MRI images to predict the presence of brain tumors and classify the type of tumor into common types (pituitary, meningioma, and glioma). The tissues that make up the brain have intricate boundaries. In order to more accurately classify the different types of tumors, we have thus divided the brain tissues into three segments and examined for enlarged segments using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and a Modified CNN that uses transfer learning and VGGNet. The paper's methodology involves using CNNs with Transfer Learning for efficient image segmentation and clustering, followed by VGGNet for noise reduction and image segmentation refining. We are optimizing the internal parameters of VGGNet in order to outperform the competition. The volume and density of malignant clusters are computed through pixel counting. This kind of method works pretty well for figuring out tissue volume in a wide range of illnesses that affect people of all ages. © 2024 Bharati Vidyapeeth, New Delhi.

Software development teams need to produce and assess secure software products so that they can perform critical functionality. Because no software product can ever be "perfectly secure, " development teams need to decide when a software product is "secure enough" to be released, that is, to make a decision on the product’s release readiness. The goal of this paper is to aid software practitioners in predicting whether a software product is "secure enough" to be released through the evolution and evaluation of software security growth models (SSGM). In this paper, we adapt and evolve software reliability growth models (SSGMs) for the purpose of SSGM using empirical software vulnerability analysis. We quantitatively compare the quality of agile software versions by comparing the security correction and detection process over testing time and software testing cost. The framework is generic to incorporate software vulnerability data into different time frames and multiple agile software versions. As wind energy becomes a key player in the global transition to renewable energy, its variability presents significant challenges. Accurate wind ramp forecasting is crucial for managing such rapid fluctuations in wind power output, ensuring grid stability, and enhancing the reliability of renewable energy integration. This paper presents a short-term wind ramp forecasting model using a sequential approach: initially forecasting wind power through the integration of Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) and the XGBoost algorithm, and subsequently detecting wind ramps using the Definition Based Sign Indicator (DSI) method. The historical wind speed and power data for Turkey was obtained from Kaggle. The dataset comprises readings from a wind turbine's SCADA system in Turkey, with measurements recorded at 10minute intervals. Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) was applied to deconstruct and restore the historical wind power of the wind field, resulting in the formation of three training datasets. Wind power projections for the subsequent 8 hours, at 10 -minute intervals, are generated using historical wind power, wind speed, and wind direction as inputs. The DSI algorithm is employed to identify ramps. To assess the predictive capability of the proposed model, two algorithms, SVR and XGBoost, were employed for forecasting and the resulting error is minimal. The proposed model, VMD + XGBOOST is also compared without VMD to evaluate the performance. Taking mean square error (MSE), root mean square error (RMSE) mean absolute error (MAE), and symmetric mean absolute percentage error (sMAPE) as evaluation indicators, the results show that the forecasted accuracy of wind power is significantly improved after VMD processing. The performance of XGBOOST is better than SVR in the two evaluation indicators. Precision, Recall, and F1-score are calculated to evaluate the accuracy of the predicted wind ramps. © 2024 IEEE.

Drowsiness during driving includes high risks for the driver, the co-passengers, and the other people on the road. Advance Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have been proposed to reduce these risks. This work introduces a new Internet of Things (IoT) seizure detection system to improve driver safety using Raspberry Pi, which is equipped with various sensors and utilizes machine learning for real-time monitoring and analysis. Using sensor fusion technology, including monitoring yawning and eye-closing patterns, the system aims to detect early signs of driver sleepiness. Being a low-cost, versatile, and tiny device, it becomes an ideal core processor for integration into an in-car environment. Additionally, the simplicity enables seamless communication with various sensors and facilitates effective data collection. Extensive tests and simulations were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and reliability of the proposed system for real-world driving situations. The result outcomes prove the system's accuracy and efficiency in detecting early signs of driver fatigue to enhance driver safety. The integration of Raspberry Pi and sensor fusion technology makes it economical as well as scalable approaches supporting multiple platforms. © 2025 IEEE.
