The Self-Attention mechanism, which lies at the core of Transformer architectures, plays a vital role in capturing long-range dependencies. However, its high computational complexity and significant memory requirements pose major challenges for resource-constrained hardware such as mobile devices. In particular, frequent memory accesses and inefficient matrix multiplication operations often result in performance bottlenecks. Therefore, the development of dedicated hardware accelerators for Self-Attention, focusing on optimizing matrix operations and reducing memory usage, is essential for improving AI processing efficiency on mobile devices. This paper presents a Self-Attention hardware accelerator designed specifically for mobile devices. By optimizing the matrix multiplication process, the accelerator effectively reduces data transmission and memory access frequency, thereby lowering the overall computational complexity. It also reuses intermediate computation results, minimizing frequent memory read and write operations, which significantly reduces memory bandwidth requirements. This data reuse strategy not only cuts down on redundant computations but also greatly enhances computational efficiency. In addition, the accelerator eliminates the need for Key Transpose operations, further simplifying certain computational steps. Compared to traditional algorithms, the idle time is reduced by 66.5%., and signal line transmission costs are reduced by approximately 80%. With an optimized hardware architecture, mobile devices can efficiently support complex deep learning applications, such as speech processing and image recognition. © 2025 IEEE.

The goal of this research is to create an optimized hybrid coupler structure for a PIN diode reflection type phase shifter (RTPS) operating at microwave frequencies. To date, no phase shifter has been reported with the proposed technique, compactness, minimum phase error and balanced amplitude. Another limitation of designing such structures at such high frequency range, is that the 50Ω impedance lines' width approaches its length for given substrate thickness, that is undesirable. This study introduces a new method of developing a module at 100 Ω and translating it back to 50 Ω at the input and output terminals. Moreover, the proposed design is highly resilient to manufacturing constraints owing to the addition of radial stubs instead of lumped components, as reflective loads. Its performance with respect to its bandwidth coverage is better with 15% bandwidth enhancement, insertion loss around 3dB, and reflection co-efficient at all ports is better than -15dB over the whole operating bandwidth. The simulated and measured results validate the proposed design effectively. © 2024 IEEE.

Microservice Architecture is quickly becoming popular for building extensive applications designed for deployment in dispersed and resource-constrained cloud-to-edge computing settings. Being a cloud-native technology, the real strength of microservices lies in their loosely connected, autonomously deployable, and scalable features, facilitating distributed deployment and flexible integration across powerful cloud data centers to heterogeneous and often constrained edge nodes. Hence, there is a need to devise innovative placement algorithms that leverage these microservice features to enhance application performance. To address these issues, we propose extending Kubernetes with a load-aware orchestration strategy, enhancing its capability to deploy microservice applications within shared clusters characterized by dynamic resource usage patterns. Our approach dynamically orchestrates applications based on runtime resource usage, continuously adjusting their placement. The results, obtained by evaluating a prototype of our system in a testbed environment, show significant advantages over the vanilla Kubernetes scheduler. © 2024 by SCITEPRESS – science and Technology Publications, Lda.

As sports grow in popularity need for effective online turf booking applications has also increased. Although some existing applications are faced with numerous challenges such as;restrictions on access, ineffectiveness in scheduling, and over-bookings, leading to frustrations and operational problems. This paper focuses on those problems by the presentation of an online turf booking application to streamline the booking process. The solution offers real-time updates, automatic payment, and safe transactions based on QR code. The more user-friendly the application is, the more efficient it will be. Firebase would be used for real-time data synchronization and the responsiveness of React interface ensures the smooth and conflict-free bookings. This solution would lead to increasing customer satisfaction as well as increasing the booking rates and effective utilization of sports facilities. © 2025 IEEE.

The emergence of deep learning methods in medical image analysis has transformed the detection and categorization of bone tumors, presenting encouraging pathways for enhanced diagnosis and treatment strategizing. This literature review synthesizes recent advancements in utilizing deep learning architectures, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs), for the automatic interpretation of various imaging modalities including X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, and bone scintigrams in the context of bone cancer detection and classification. Each study discussed presents unique methodologies combining traditional image processing techniques also the augmentation techniques with deep learning models to accurately identify, categorize, and segment bone lesions. Despite the encouraging results in terms of accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity, several common limitations are identified across the studies, including small sample sizes, potential biases, limited validation on diverse datasets, and a lack of thorough comparisons with existing techniques or expert interpretations. Addressing these limitations through larger and more diverse datasets, rigorous validation protocols, uncertainty quantification, and consideration of clinical outcomes would enhance the reliability, generalizability, and clinical utility of the proposed deep learning-based methodologies. Overall, these studies underscore the immense potential of deep learning approaches in advancing the field of bone cancer diagnosis and management, paving the way for more robust and clinically applicable tools to assist medical professionals. ©2024 IEEE.

Climate refers to the long-term weather patterns of a region. Variations in the weather have a lot of implications on our daily lives. Explore the application of deep learning techniques in climate prediction and related fields. It focuses on Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models for forecasting air quality, greenhouse temperature control, and urban flood water accumulation using Gradient Boosted Decision Trees (GBDT). The analysis concludes that deep learning, particularly LSTM, offers promising accuracy for various climate-related predictions. Challenges such as data scarcity, non-stationarity, and high dimensionality are addressed, highlighting the need for advanced models to capture complex climate system dynamics and human influences. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents an integrated framework for the comprehensive analysis of diseases affecting pomegranate fruit. The suggested system, which makes use of deep learning techniques, includes semantic segmentation for diseased region localization, multiclass illness classification, and image processing-based severity assessment. Initially, four common diseases - Alternaria, Anthracnose, Bacterial Blight, and Cer-cospora - are successfully identified through the use of a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for multiclass classification. Then, annotated photos are used as training data for Semantic Segmentation, which uses the UNet architecture to identify the unhealthy spots within the fruit. The area and percentage of the segmented region are determined, and thresholds for high, medium, and low severity levels are then defined. The segmentation results are then used as inputs for severity estimate. Early identification and intervention tactics are made easier by the severity level prediction, which is based on the proportion of the segmented region. In order to improve pomegranate fruit management methods, the suggested framework provides a thorough method of disease analysis by combining categorization, semantic segmentation, and severity prediction. © 2024 IEEE.

Modular multilevel converters have developed into a door opener for a variety of energy applications. Enabling parallel connectivity between modules can offer several advantages to systems, including sensorless balancing, module-to-module energy exchange, reduced impedance, low-frequency operation down to dc output, and a larger effective capacitance. Existing module circuits, however, require many individual switches or offer only very limited parallel functionalities. We propose a new module topology, which we name the direction-selective parallel structure, which requires only a minimum of transistors. A combination of only four active switches and four diodes enables bidirectional equilibration, bipolar module output, and inter-module switched-capacitor features. The topology is highly attractive for existing converters working with cascaded H-bridge elements as the addition of only four diodes enables the key features of more complicated module topologies, particularly their superior balancing, such as sensorless estimator-free balancing, and module-to-module energy exchange. The diodes furthermore well match the insulated gate bipolar transistors implemented in most larger systems. We elaborate on the working principle of the direction-selective parallel module and demonstrate its operation. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a comprehensive comparative analysis of image partitioning and compression mechanisms, two fundamental techniques in image processing and data compression. Image partitioning involves dividing an image into smaller components, while compression aims to reduce the size of digital images while preserving visual quality. The analysis encompasses various aspects of both techniques, including methodologies, algorithms, and performance metrics. For image partitioning, segmentation methods such as block-based, region-based, and hierarchical partitioning are examined, along with their respective advantages and limitations. Additionally, the paper explores compression mechanisms such as transform coding, quantization, entropy coding, and predictive coding, highlighting their roles in achieving efficient compression. Furthermore, the comparative analysis evaluates the tradeoffs between different partitioning and compression techniques in terms of compression ratio, image quality, computational complexity, and applicability across different types of images and applications. Various compression standards such as JPEG and PNG are also reviewed to provide insights into real-world implementations. Finally, the paper discusses future research directions and emerging trends in image partitioning and compression, including the integration of machine learning techniques for improved segmentation and compression performance. This research addresses the dual challenges of image restoration quality and data privacy in optical remote sensing. Traditional restoration methods often fall short due to the complex nature of remote sensing images, and data privacy concerns further complicate the use of advanced techniques. By integrating the Deep Memory Connected Neural Network (DMCN) with the Data-Decoupled Federated Learning (DDFL) framework, our approach enables significant improvements in image restoration without requiring direct access to sensitive raw data. This method not only enhances data privacy by leveraging federated learning principles but also incorporates advanced techniques like Gaussian image denoising to maintain high restoration quality despite potential noise introduced by the federated process. The performance of the federated DMCN, particularly on the UCMERCED dataset, demonstrates minimal accuracy degradation, even in the presence of noise, while the strategic use of Downsampling Units within DMCN optimizes computational efficiency. Our comprehensive evaluations reveal the effectiveness of this approach in balancing data privacy with the need for high-quality image restoration, suggesting a promising direction for future advancements in remote sensing applications. © 2024 IEEE.
