This paper presents an exhaustive analysis of power flow optimization within an IEEE 33-bus microgrid system using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and compares it with traditional Optimal Power Flow (OPF) methods. The PSO approach is evaluated based on its effectiveness in reducing real and reactive power losses and enhancing overall system efficiency, particularly when integrated with renewable energy sources. Our study delves into the intricacies of power system optimization, examining the system's adaptability to load variations and the integration of distributed generation. The performance metrics focus on energy conservation, operational cost, system reliability, and power quality. The results from the PSO are critically assessed against those obtained from the OPF, providing insights into the suitability and effectiveness of each optimization method for modern smart grid applications. © 2024 IEEE.

Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) is a decentralized database system where transactions are recorded and verified across multiple nodes. Its key features include immutability, time-stamping, and consensus-based validation. Numerous DLT applications are in supply chain management, intellectual property, cross border payments, energy trading, real estate, and online donations. DeFi, a combination of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, offers financial services without intermediaries. Hence transactions with various digital assets based on cryptocurrency price feeds needs an automated framework. Smart contracts, self-executing contracts with terms directly written into code, automate processes and reduce manual intervention. This paper proposes a decentralized financial trading model using the AAVE protocol. AAVE is a decentralized platform that allows for transactions with various digital assets based on cryptocurrency price feeds. Proposed model uses Chainlink, a decentralized oracle network, to provide accurate and reliable price feeds. IPFS is used for data storage, while Graph is employed for indexing and querying blockchain data. The paper presents an example of a DeFi protocol to simulate banking operations, showcasing the potential of DeFi and DLT in revolutionizing traditional banking processes. © 2024 IEEE.

Renewable energy, particularly wind & solar power, plays a crucial role in modern electric power systems due to their environmental benefits, such as reduced carbon emission and air pollution, cost-effectiveness, and potential for expanding energy access. This research focuses on analyzing the load flow analysis, fault analysis, and economic load dispatch of renewable energy integration in different scenarios within an IEEE 9 Bus power system. A fixed-speed wind turbine and a solar PV model are designed and simulated in MATLAB Simulink. We collected data to create a model of the IEEE 9 Bus system in PowerWorld Simulator to add wind and solar energy data to analyze how the system operates load flow under different conditions. Five scenarios were tested to see how the grid performs when various combinations of grid generators, wind, and solar farms are used. The optimization connects ordinary and renewable generators, with the cost function balanced to reflect the zero-fuel cost of renewable sources. Successfully find the most dependable and economic scenario for the best use of all available energy sources, along with wind, solar, and the grid generator, to ensure the system runs efficiently. The power supply stays stable, and the grid generator does not have to work as challenging, which helps optimize renewable energy utilization and offers the most excellent mix of energy sources for cost-effective, clean, and sustainable power generation. ©2024 IEEE.

Introducing an advanced Augmented Reality (AR) indoor navigation system that uses computer vision for precise positioning and obstacle detection which eliminates the need for GPS. The system is implemented on Android devices using Unity. The system works based on a 3D model of the navigational space that provides the user with unique interior Point of Interests with AR guided overlays for navigation. It uses an advanced mapping and machine learning techniques for real time positioning and obstacle detection. The ARNAV system is independent of GPS making it reliable in complex indoor spaces where GPS fails. Additionally, in emergency situations where there is low visibility the system provides an advanced AR walls feature to guide users to reach the nearest exit by using AR generated walls and overlays. The retrace path feature which is designed especially for patients with cognitive impairments like Alzheimer's which allows the user to retrace the path that they have already traversed using the AR overlay. Additionally, it provides AR based reminders that helps them complete day to day tasks. In conclusion the ARNAV revolutionizes the AR technology to create a safe, dynamic and user centric system that handles emergency evacuation and needs of patients with special cognitive needs. © 2024 IEEE.

Gaze detection and text extraction are pivotal technologies in the domain of human-computer interaction and computer vision, enabling applications such as assistive technologies, user interface optimization, and automated content analysis. This paper presents a novel method that identifies the user's gaze direction and extracts the necessary portion of text, which constitutes the user's region of interest, using a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) integrated with a spatial attention mechanism. A Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (DBSCAN)-based filter is incorporated into the system to remove textual noise from the extracted image, thereby improving the model's accuracy and reducing computation time. The proposed method demonstrates reduced dependency on the CNN compared to previous approaches, resulting in enhanced real-time operation capability and lower latency. Computational optimization and real-time performance were thoroughly evaluated, showing that our system not only achieves high accuracy in gaze detection and text extraction but also maintains efficient processing speeds suitable for dynamic applications. This advancement offers significant improvements for applications in assistive technology, educational tools, and interactive media, where precise and efficient gaze detection and text extraction are critical. © 2024 IEEE.

Hybrid fuel cell power systems have demonstrated their ability to lower fuel consumption and enhance transportation performance. However, efficient power transfer between the energy storage system (ESS) and fuel cell is crucial. This study explores the comparative performance of three energy management strategies -optimization-based, rule-based and control-based- for a hydrogen-powered small vessel. The focus is on optimizing fuel efficiency, specifically hydrogen consumption, under river-trip operating conditions. According to simulation results, the most effective energy management method for lowering fuel usage is that relied on control mechanisms. This method's real-time adaptive control, which efficiently balances fuel cell and ESS utilization, accounts for its superior performance. © 2024 IEEE.

Heterogeneous Internet of Things (IoT) networks enabled by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) operate in various protocols and spectrum bands (e.g., WiFi, LoRa, Zigbee) to collect and offload data generated from heterogeneous sensors. However, achieving timely and secure communications is challenging due to uncertain data generation, mobility, and location of wardens. This paper presents a collaborative framework that exploits cross-technology communications to achieve covertness constraints. The aim is to minimize the age of covert information (AoCI) and energy consumption by jointly optimizing data scheduling, power allocation, and offloading decisions by collaborating with UAVs. A multi-agent actor-critic algorithm that incorporates federated learning and attention mechanisms (cluster-MAAC-attention) is presented to solve the previous problem. Our simulation results show that our algorithm reduces the worst AoCI by 4 times, and reduces the penalty by 20 times compared to existing schemes. © 2024 IEEE.

Single object tracking in satellite videos has recently gained a lot of attention in the field of computer vision. Although the satellite images are very informative, the small size of the objects and limited spatial and temporal resolution might make object tracking difficult and inaccurate. In this paper, we propose a method for accurately tracking small objects in satellite videos. In the initial phase, we applied the Fast Super-Resolution Convolutional Neural Network (FSRCNN), a deep learning-based super-resolution technique, to enhance the resolution of the frames. This procedure serves to sharpen the details and features of the objects, resulting in a clearer representation. The main contribution, however, lies in our incorporation of a robust motion detection technique into our framework, marking a significant step forward in this study. The motion detection approach combines various methods and operations with the primary goal of making moving objects distinctly visible and easily distinguishable from the complex image background. This enhancement significantly contributes to the precision and accuracy of the tracking system. We combined both approaches with Fully Convolutional Siamese Network (SiamFC) due to its robustness in tracking processes across frames in videos, capacity to handle changes in target appearance, and ability to deal with small datasets. The Satellite Video Single Object Tracking (SatSOT) and SV248A10-SOT (SV248S), two satellite video single object tracking datasets, were used to evaluate the proposed approach. When the techniques were applied, the SatSOT dataset showed an 11% precision score increase and a 10% success rate improvement. The SV248S dataset exhibited even more significant improvements, with precision scores increasing by 18% and success scores rising by 9%. © 2024 IEEE.

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by recurrent seizures, impacting the quality of life for millions of individuals worldwide. Timely and accurate detection of epileptic seizures is crucial for proper diagnosis and effective treatment. Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals provide vital information about brain activity and serve as a valuable tool for epilepsy detection. The methodology opted for this study was an enhanced multilayer feed forward neural network for automatic detection of epilepsy from EEG signals and hence predicting the severity. The authors build a multistage cascaded neural network model for achieving the same. Initially a Simple Artificial Neural Network (SimpleANN) is designed to classify EEG segments into seizure, healthy and interictal. Later a Multilayer Feed Forward Neural Network (MFFNN) is employed for detecting the severity of epileptic patients and hence can be classified into primary and secondary stages. The experimental results showed that the proposed SimpleANN classifier had provided noticeable results, and outperforms all tested classifiers. The study involves the collection of EEG data from a diverse group of patients, including those with epilepsy and healthy individuals. This automated epilepsy identifying system passes through different stages including decomposition, feature extraction for achieving a better performance model. The proposed system was tested and compared with SVM, KNN, MLP and Decision Tree under different measurement metrics. ANN has managed to give an accuracy of 80 - 90% which is significantly higher as compared to other machine learning models. The proposed work can automatically learn complex patterns from EEG data provides an advantage in identifying subtle seizure related features that may not be evident through manual analysis. Furthermore, the model offers real-time capabilities, making it suitable for continuous monitoring of patients at risk of seizures. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates the impact of different earthing methods on overvoltage within modular multilevel Voltage Source Converter (MMC VSC) based Direct Current (DC) transmission and distribution grids, particularly in meshed multi-terminal (MTDC) configurations. A bipolar MTDC grid is modelled and simulated in PSCAD/EMTDC to investigate the influence of earthing on midpoint overvoltages. The transient response of the grid under DC fault scenarios is analysed through various case-studies, including solid earthing placement, variations in earthing impedance, and the application of surge arresters. The findings show the critical role of earthing in mitigating overvoltage, with low-resistive earthing options proving to be the most effective trade-off. © 2024 IEEE.
